Doesn’t this scene look like the perfect way to kick-off the holiday season!?! Sugar cookies, wine, and a roaring fire… I’m not sure it can get better than this! š
Tonight, Mal and I tested out our new fireplace. We had a chimney sweep come to clean it on Wednesday afternoon, so we’ve been itching to have a fire ever since.
Clearly, Murphy was too exhausted to care about the new fireplace. (He went to bed about an hour ago. Batman really wears him out.)
Fire starter.
While Mal got the fire going, I baked a half batch of Sugar Cookies.
Baking cookies and listening to Christmas music on Pandora totally put me in the holiday spirit! š
Once the fire was going and the cookies were baked, we broke open a nice bottle of wine from my recent trip to California:Ā 2008 Jackson Hills Chardonnay. It was my favorite wine of the whole trip, so I saved it for a special occasion like tonight.
Hooray for the holidays! 
I’m going to join the pug in bed pretty soon because I have a 12-mile run in the morning! šÆ

Ahh perfect night. As an NYC apartment-dweller I am very jealous of the fireplace! I’m getting up and running 8 miles tomorrow, can’t wait!! Could not be more excited about the holidays. What is the holiday station on Pandora that is so good? There are a few I think… I hope those cookies are homemade, hmm!?
Theres nothing better than a real wood fireplace. We had one in the house I grew up in, and its so cozy. When it was really rainy my parents would let us roast marshmallows. So much fun!
