Good morning and a very happy Friday to you!!
One of my favorite ways to motivate myself and get excited about exercise is updating my fitness gear. Sure, I could go out a buy something new and fancy (and expensive) from Lululemon, but I don’t want to break the bank every time I need a little boost, so I started to check out more affordable options at my local drugstore. For real!
Drugstores, like CVS, carry just about everything nowadays, including inexpensive fitness items that will give you the motivation you need. A little health-inspired purchase always puts me in the right mindset! That said, here are six wallet-friendly fitness finds to look for the next time you shop at CVS!
Headbands
It’s no secret that I’m a tad obsessed with headbands. I mean, I wear them all the time. Obviously, I like the way they look, but the main reason I love them so much is because I can’t stand when my hair falls in my face when I exercise. Just the thought of sweaty hair sticking to my face and neck makes me cringe. Yick. Headbands keep my hair out of my face, so I can focus on my workout.
Most drugstores sell all sorts of headband styles and most come in packages of three or more, so you’ll get a bunch of fun colors and designs for not a lot of money. I recently bought a package of Scunci Everyday & Active Reflective Head Bands from CVS that are no-slip, so they stay put when I exercise. They come in three different sizes and a whole bunch of colors, so I coordinate them with my workout attire. I also like the Scunci Everyday & Active No-Slip Wide Head Band that comes in both solid colors and patterns.
Trinkets
Trinkets? Um? Yes. Hear me out on this one! A few weeks ago, a wheel fell off one of Quinn’s toy race cars. Unfortunately, it wasn’t fixable, so I started to think about how I could re-purpose it. Then, I remembered something my sister-in-law recently started doing. She puts a little trinket (I think hers is a plastic animal) on her bathroom sink to remind her to do her daily push-ups and sit-ups. I loved this idea so much, I started doing it myself, using Quinn’s broken car as my trinket. Now, I do 15 push-ups and 20 sit-ups every night before bed. My toy car is a great way to keep me on track with my fitness goals and you can buy one for just a few dollars at your local drugstore!
T-Shirts and Tank Tops
Drugstores often sell cheap t-shirts and tank tops in 3-packs, so they cost next to nothing per top. These ones from CVS are less than $4 each, which is an awesome price considering you’re just going to get them sweaty and stinky during your workouts. And when they get really grubby, you won’t feel bad about throwing them away. These tops are typically light-weight and come in a variety of colors, so you can stock up for months at a time. I typically wear them layered over a sports bra for an easy and stylish look. Definitely give it a try!
Water Bottles
I didn’t realize this until recently, but CVS sells some pretty cool water bottles. I had no idea! The Full Circle Home On The Go Lemon Glass Water Bottle has a built-in lemon reamer that makes it easy to add flavor (limes, oranges, and grapefruit work too), so it’s a great way to get your daily 8 glasses of water without the added sugar and cost of prepackaged beverages. I also love this stainless steel water bottle with flowers on it. It’s adorable and would make a fun addition to any workout.
Sport Sunscreen
I always put on sunscreen before I go for a run or walk. Always. I’m kind of crazy about sunscreen. I use a sunscreen lotion for my face and CVS Sport Clear Spray Sunscreen SPF 50 on my body because it’s so quick and easy to use. Just spray and go! It literally takes me about a minute to apply it. I also love it because it’s so affordable, which is important, especially since I’m active everyday outside in the summertime.
Healthy Snacks
Oh, how I love the snacks from CVS! I almost always buy at least one or two every time I shop there. I typically reach for goodies from the Gold Emblem Abound line (my favorites are CVS Gold Emblem Abound Sweet & Nutty Probiotic Trail Mix and CVS Gold Emblem Abound Organic Dried Figs), but I also love the not-as-healthy options, like the CVS Gold Emblem Milk Chocolate Covered Cashews (so insanely good) and the CVS Gold Emblem Brownie Filled Pretzel Nuggets. Most of these snacks cost only a few dollars (the brownie filled pretzels were recently on sale for just $0.88!), so they’re friendly on your wallet too.
