What is a misto?

A misto is a drink that is half coffee and half steamed milk. I usually get mine made with soy milk.

What kind of wraps/tortillas do you buy?

I tend to buy whatever whole wheat wrap is on sale at the grocery store and a brand that doesn’t have a ton of crazy ingredients in it. I also look for wraps with high fiber and a decent amount of protein in them. My favorite brands are Joseph’s Flax, Oat Bran and Whole Wheat Flour Tortilla and Wrap-Itz.

How do you make Overnight Oats and Overnight Oats in a Jar?

Here’s how I make both!

What is the point of putting your oatmeal in the jar? Is it to use up those last dregs of nut butter left at the bottom, or just for the fun container? I got my first one all ready this morning and then realized my Teddie jar was in fact not glass.

Both reasons! To use up the last bit of nut butter in the jar and to eat it out of a fun container.

I get a TON of questions about Oats In A Jar, so here’s a tutorial that I created awhile back as well as some Q & A’s about it. Hope this helps clear up the confusion!

For the Overnight Oats in a Jar, I am confused about the actual jar. Are you using a jar that you just finished or are you washing jars and re-using them as bowls?

Overnight Oats in a Jar (OOIAJ) are just regular oats, soaked overnight, in a mostly-empty nut butter jar. The oats absorb the liquid (soy milk, almond milk, water, etc.) that you add to them, so in the morning, you have a cool, mushy mess of oatmeal to enjoy. The base is typically oats, but you can also use oat bran, spelt flakes, granola, etc. in the mix. The toppings are endless, and you can add them to the jar the night before or the next morning (both ways work). I add all of my ingredients to the jar the night before, let it sit in the fridge overnight, grab a spoon, and enjoy my OOIAJ the next morning. Once I’m finished, I throw away (recycle) the jar, and wait patiently for another one to get close to empty!

Do you use an electric griddle to cook your pancakes?

Yep! It’s the Griddler and it’s awesome! I also use it to make paninis!

What how much is a “spoonful” of nut butter?

I’m not really sure since I just stick my spoon in the nut butter jar, but if I had to guess, it’s probably 1.5 tablespoons per spoonful.

What do you normally drink with your meals?

Iced coffee with breakfast and water for all of my other meals.

What is an Adora disk?

An Adora disk is a chocolate calcium supplement. They’re delicious and actually taste like real chocolate. You can order the Adora disks online, but they are also sold at Whole Foods and Walgreens as well as some other retailers.

What is nutritional yeast?

Nutritional yeast is made by culturing yeast with a mixture of sugarcane and beet molasses. It’s a great source of protein and vitamins, especially the B-complex vitamins. I think it tastes like burnt cheese, so I add it to eggs, pasta, roasted veggies, salads, and just about anything else I’d add cheese to. It’s texture reminds me of flaked fish food, which sounds weird, but it’s really tasty.

What is truffle salt? What is truffle oil? Where do you buy them?

Truffle salt is sea salt blended with truffles (mushrooms). It has a rich, earthy, and musty flavor, so I love sprinkling it on dishes for a finishing touch of flavor. Truffle salt goes really well with salads, roasted veggies, eggs, pizza, pasta””pretty much anything to which you want to add a strong, savory flavor. Truffle oil is olive oil blended with truffles. I add it to similar dishes as I do the truffle salt– mostly just for added flavor. If you’re wondering what the difference is between white and black truffles, here’s a great explanation. It mostly has to do with where and when they’re grown.

You can buy truffle salt at specialty food/cooking stores like Williams-Sonoma and Dean & Deluca.
