Hi, again! Here’s a recap of yesterday morning and afternoon. I had a nice, little Saturday!

Breakfast

I went to bed pretty early on Friday night (drank wine, watched a movie), so I woke up insanely early (and hungry) on Saturday morning. I was in the mood for pancakes, so I broke out the Griddler and whipped up a batch of pumpkin-flavored ones.

Saturday Morning Pumpkin Pancakes

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup canned pumpkin
  • 1/2 cup almond flour/meal
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Directions:

  • Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl and blend well.
  • Heat skillet to medium-low heat and coat with cooking spray.
  • Use a 1/4 cup measuring cup to portion the batter onto the skillet.
  • Cook each side of the pancake for about 2-3 minutes and flip.
  • Serve warm with your favorite toppings.

Makes 8 pancakes

These pancakes turned out so well. They were light and fluffy with a semi-sweet pumpkin-y flavor. So delish!

SaturdayMorningPumpkinPancakes

I ate four pancakes with peanut butter and maple syrup and left the rest for Mal to eat when he woke up. I went to the grocery store to do our shopping for the week, so I left him a note. Murphy sometimes lies about eating breakfast, so I made sure to let Mal know that he had already eaten.

When I got home from the grocery store, a fun surprise was waiting for me on the front porch.

IMG_5288 (750x563)

Inside was goodies from Reebok!!Ā For November, they sent me the Play Dry Jacket (in Gravel) and RealFlex Fusion TR (in Rivet Grey/Vitamin C/Aubergine/White) to review.

reebokrealflex

Let’s start with the jacket since I am completely in love with it and it’s absolutely something I would buy myself. In fact, one of my CrossFit friends has the exact same jacket in Aubergine (aka purple), and I told her I really liked it and even considered buying it for myself, so, obviously, I’m psyched that Reebok sent me one to review! I already know I’m going to wear this jacket a lotā€ā€of course, before and after workouts, but also in everyday life as part of my regular wardrobe. I’m a big fan of jeans + sneakers/flip flops and just stylish workout gear as Ā ā€œregularā€Ā clothes, so you’ll probably see this jacket quite a bit on CNC!

IMG_5310 (750x563)

I’m all about fabrics when it comes to workout gear. If it’s stiff or scratchy, I’m just not a fan and won’t wear it.Ā This jacket is lightweight and comfy with aĀ reallyĀ soft, waffle-like pattern on the inside. It’s so, so, so cozy to wear.

IMG_5293 (750x563)

I also love the thumb holes on the sleeves.

IMG_5309 (750x563)

I mean, who doesn’t love thumb holes on sleeves? They’re the best. Seriously.

IMG_5306 (750x563)

Ok, onto the sneakers! How fun are these things?!

IMG_5296 (750x563)

The colors? Purple, orange, and gray? Love, love, love!

IMG_5298 (750x563)

I actually already have a pair of the RealFlex, and I wear them often for CrossFit workouts. They’re great for WODs that have a little bit of everything in them because they’re lightweight, flexible, and move with me while I’m box jumping, running, Burpee-ing, or whatever else.

Workout

Yesterday’s CrossFit workout was a ā€œFall Field Dayā€Ā with all different kinds of exercises, so I knew my newĀ RealFlex Fusion TR would be perfect, so I wore them to class. The workout also included some running outside, so I wore my new Play Dry JacketĀ to keep me warm. The jacket has a slim fit, but it’s flexible and didn’t limit my range of motion at all while I ran and worked out.

The ā€œFall Field Dayā€Ā involved 5 different events:

1)Ā Ā  Max 400 meter Sprint

2)Ā Ā  Max Rep Bench Press Test with one weight (below), go for AMRAP

Males:Ā Beginner: 95, Intermediate: 135, Advanced: 185

Females:Ā Beginner: 35, Intermediate: 65, Advanced: 95

3)Ā Ā  Max Broad Jump (3 attempts)

4)Ā Ā  Max Isometric Hold Chin-up (Time)

5)Ā Ā  Max 1 minute Double Unders

IMG_1844 (560x750)

The first event was a 400 meter sprint. I finished in 1:10, which was a 11-second decrease from March and a 23-second decrease from January. I can’t believe how much faster my running has gotten in the past 11 months, especially since I don’t run nearly as much as I used to!

IMG_1840 (560x750)

Mal has gotten a lot faster too. He finished 400 meters in 52 seconds. He was so fast, I wasn’t able to snap a picture of him as he ran by me! Haha! My photography skills are stellar.

For the bench press, I did 24 reps at 65 pounds.

IMG_1846 (560x750)

For the broad jump, I got 6’4ā€Ā.

IMG_1849 (560x750)

For the Isometric Hold Chin-up, I made it to 60 seconds before dropping. My partner lost track of my double-unders, so I’m not sure how many I did in a minute, but I got a string of 21 in a row!

After CrossFit, Mal and I stopped by Marylou’s for iced coffees and then went to buy leaf bags.

IMG_5183 (750x563)

The next activity for our day was raking the leaves in our backyard.

IMG_5187 (750x563)

Mal and I used to wish we had a bigger backyard, but now we’re started to appreciate its size.

IMG_5186 (750x563)

It took us less than an hour to rake up all of the leaves in our yard and bag them.

IMG_5200 (750x563)

Murphy helped by eating about a dozen leaves.

Lunch

Once Mal and I finished the yard work, I reheated some leftovers for lunch (Skillet Sweet Potato Hash) and then jumped into the shower to get ready for Elizabeth and Nick’s wedding.

  1. LOVE the Reebok stuff!! How fun that must be to receive boxes like that! What awesome goodies! Congrats on tackling the leaves.

  2. Thanks for giving me an idea of what I’m going to do with the extra pumpkin I have after making pumpkin rolls. Mmm…

Thumb holes are the greatest shirt invention ever!

  3. Holy moly, 1:10 and 0:52 for 400 meters?! That’s crazy impressive! And definitely makes me want to look more into CrossFit to improve my sprinting times…

  4. I have the same shoes! Love them for crosstraining workouts! And we had pumpkin pancakes for breakfast too. Though mine turned out much less attractive due to some sticky issues. but still delicious!

Topped with some walnuts and sunflower butter for the perfect fall morning!

  5. I have a jacket with thumb holes too! And I LOVE it! I’m a dance teacher, so my favorite workout wear that I showcase all year round is this cozy wrap sweater that is usually over my leotards when I’m cold. Come to think of it…I also like to rock my Broadway Dance Center tank with my leather jacket…and occasionally my leg warmers come out over boots….I just need to be prepared to bust a move at any time;)!!

  6. Love all that workout gear! So cute and so great being stylish to go work out! Everyone keeps posting pictures of their pancakes for breakfast and it just makes me want them so much more!

  7. I have a few Lululemon jackets that I absolutely love and wear them with jeans/flip flops, etc. Those shoes look awesome. I need a new pair, but they need to have good support for jumping and side to side agility. Let me know how you like them! šŸ™‚

  8. Yeah for thumbholes, that jacket is awesome!!
I’ll check out those sneakers, I need a good cross training shoe, they look great.

  9. Too funny! Im always joking about how my dogs lie about eating too!! They are the biggest cutest fibbers on the planet! …and everyone falls for it. Especially me!! love Murphy! he’s too cute.

  10. Loved the jacket and shoes! Thumbholes are my new favorite things!

Murphy isn’t the only puppy storyteller. My dig Whiskey tries to fib her way to extra treats all the time.

  11. I love the jacket! I go to the gym almost every morning so I usually wear my workout clothes for the most part of the day. My favorite thing to wear out and about though are my yoga pants from gap. They are so soft and comfy.

  12. I love the jacket…also the pancakes, ill prob make those this week šŸ™‚ I wear my yoga pants like they are going out of style!!! To gym, shopping, around the house, wherever!! So comfy!

  13. Did you get the jacket in a small? Im debating a medium because Im 5″10. What do you think?? I really want it! Love your posts, I want free stuff! Lol. All of your posts totally make me buy everything you try- for example nikkis coco butter and I bough the mad hectic oatmeal šŸ™‚

  14. I love the sneakers! How do they feel when you are running? I like to wear my running capris out when I am doing errands. I would have jumped in that pile of leaves. Have a great night šŸ™‚

  15. I really like that jacket. Very cute.

Just curious if you donate some of the swag you get? It seems like you get soooo many pairs of sneakers.

  16. I absolutely need a jacket with thumb holes. My friend just wore one today and I was in love. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve forgotten my gloves at home on a cold long run and immediately regretted it.

  17. We went to the outlets yesterday and I popped into the Reebok store- they’ve got tons of great stuff! I’ve never really been a Reebok wearer[?], have tended to stick with Nike and UA, but they’ve got some great pieces lately! I have my eyes on a lined jacket šŸ˜‰

  18. I have a sweatshirt a lot like this Reebok one (besides the thumb holes, which are definitely awesome) and I love to wear it running when its cold, or on a regular day when I want something comfy and warm. I agree that workout gear make good clothes because they are usually made out of nice fabric with a really relaxed fit. Both of the things they sent you are really cool, lucky!

  19. I LOVE pancakes….I use the same recipe, and switch between almond meal & coconut flour. What a workout raking all those leaves!

  20. This will sound weird, I know…but I love the thinness of your pancakes! They look almost, but not really, crepe consistency. To boot, they’re pumpkin flavored! I really don’t like thick pancakes and so many pancake recipes make thick ones. Just a matter of adding more liquid, right? Was it the pumpkin that thinned them out?

  21. “Don’t let him lie to you.” <<HAHAHA. My favorite part of this post, hands down.

Lululemon steals my heart (and my wallet) because of the softness and comfort of their workout gear. Bonus is that their workout gear doubles as "I may just wear this all day" or "I just happened to sleep in this last night because it is so comfortable." šŸ™‚

That being said, I NEED that jacket. I have a waffle knit by Nike that is similar to that and lets just say I wore it to death and it needs to be replaced.

  22. That jacket is cute and looks very functional!
I have a great wind-blocker NorthFace zip up hoodie that I can wear for a workout or as super-casual wear.

  23. 1:10 for a 400?! Really? That is SERIOUSLY fast. Like a 4 minute mile fast for a quarter of mile. Not saying I don’t believe you, but damn, if you can run that fast, maybe you should do it more?
