Hi, friends! I hope your week is off to a wonderful start! I’m just popping in real quick to share some adventures from our weekend. Our little family had quite the fun-filled Saturday and Sunday! Ok, here we go… weekend recap time!

We attended our first Hanover Day, a three-day event that included a carnival, vendor fair, road race, live music, fireworks, and more. It was awesome, and I’m so glad that we decided to check it out. We’ll definitely visit again next year. It was so, so fun!!

We headed over to Hanover Day on Saturday afternoon, which meant we missed a good portion of the day, but it actually ended up working out well. It wasn’t crazy-crowded and there were still plenty of vendors and games set up as well as live performances and carnival in full swing.

Quinn especially loved the yard games at Hanover Day, so we spent quite a while trying them out!

He also got a kick out of the “Flying High Frisbee Dogs.”

And enjoyed some fro-yo!

Quinn was too small for the carnival rides, but we still went to check them out.

He was totally mesmerized by them. “Whoa!”

Quinn also had the chance to play a carnival game and won a trumpet! (Back at home, Murphy was not a fan of Quinn’s new toy!)

On Sunday morning, we woke up bright and early to visit the New England Aquarium and, oh my goodness, it was incredible. I’m still smiling about our visit.

I’ll never forget Quinn’s face when he saw the sea lions outside the aquarium for the first time. His face lit up with pure joy and amazement, and then he realized there were “more” of them around the corner and ran off to see them. It was so adorable.

Quinn absolutely loved trying to feel the sting rays in the touch tank and probably would have stayed there all day. This is super cheesy to admit, but I literally had tears in my eyes when he touched his first sting ray. It just made me so happy watching his sweet face.

After visiting the aquarium, we headed to the nearby Rings Fountain to cool off.

It was a bit overwhelming for Qman, so he stayed close to Mama and didn’t go in. (Of course, I didn’t mind and enjoyed the cuddles.)

We wandered around downtown Boston for a little while longer and then drove to my sister’s house for Matthew’s camping-themed birthday party.

Super cute, right?

It was such a fun time, and Quinn loved playing with all of cousin Matthew’s cool toys!

S’mores cupcakes = so good!

Happy 3rd birthday, Matthew!!

Question of the Day

What was THE BEST part of your weekend?

  1. What a fun filled weekend! My boys love carnivals & a trip to NE aquarium is something we do every summer. Love your tank top, from Sunday. Where is it from?

  2. What a weekend! Quinn looks so happy at the aquarium. My weekend was low key thanks to a cold that took out the whole house, but we’re looking forward to vacation next weekend!

  3. I am not ashamed to admit- as an adult I totally love those giant connect four games. I think they are a lot of fun. So glad you guys had a great weekend, Hanover Day looks like a great family fun event!

  4. Aw I love the photo of Quinn cuddling with you while watching the older kids play in the water! Looks like you had a fantastic family fun weekend!

  5. How is Matthew 3 years old!? Time is flying! I love his birthday theme! Best part of our weekend was playing in the backyard. We finally got it fenced in so our dog and toddler can roam free without me chasing them into the woods or the street! Getting a fence is probably the highlight of my summer, ha!

  6. Your nephew is already 3?? I guess that makes sense since Quinn just turned 2, but still! My weekend was nice because I had my ballet performance on Saturday. It was a lot of fun but I’m very excited to have my life back and not have to be at rehearsal two nights a week! That was NOT anticipated when I said I would do the show and it was rough on Ellie.

  7. Question for you : how do you deal with your son naps over a busy weekend (on a busy day like your Sunday was)? For my part it’s always a challenge, I feel guilty to have him nap in the car if we are on the go and I wonder how others with 2 years old do.

    1. Quinn napped in the car and was fine at the party that afternoon. He’s a good napper and we pretty much stick to his schedule, but having a short nap every once in awhile seems to work. He just rolls with it! 🙂

  8. I used to absolutely love bringing my girls to the aquarium at Coney Island when they were little! What a fun time you had with your sweet little family – ahhh, those are special days – cherish them!

  9. I ran the BAA 10k on Sunday and finished it and felt amazing! I mean, I’m still struggling with walking, but felt EMOTIONALLY amazing haha. I hurt my foot towards the end of my training, so I’d only ever run 5 miles once and had never run 6. . . but it was fine. And SO FUN. And even though I know that most of my friends can bust out 6 miles like it’s no big deal, it was a lot for me and I’m pretty proud of myself 🙂

Also, I LOVE the New England Aquarium. I worked at Brandeis for a while and they had a program to let staff buy discount tickets which was the best. The sting ray touch tank is probably my favorite part. Glad you guys had such a good time!

  10. I had such a good weekend. I went to a play that a highschool friend was in. I haven’t seen him in probably 30 years!
I went over to my friend’s farm on Saturday, I brought along my dog so he could see the horses and other dogs. I got a kick out of seeing how he reacted to the ponies.
Then we put on a Youtube video tutorial on a painting (The Art Sherpa -she was kooky and fun to follow along with), and spent our afternoon painting along with the video. My dog loved seeing the horses, was such a nice day.
