Hi, guys! 😎

I just got back from a nice 5-mile run. The weather here is perfect today– warm and sunny with a light breeze. It’s awesome running weather! πŸ˜€

When I first started out, my hip was a little sore, but once I got moving, it really didn’t bother me. I ended up covering 5 miles in just over 46:00.

  • Mile 1: 9:24
  • Mile 2: 9:09
  • Mile 3: 9:07
  • Mile 4: 9:19
  • Mile 5: 8:59

Snack

Before heading out for my run, I snacked on half of a pita with peanut butter inside.

And when I returned, I rehydrated with a blackberry-chamomile Solixir. Love this flavor!

I’m thinking about having a Green Monster for lunch. Any ingredient recommendations?

  1. I had a green monster for lunch as well, after my morning run. πŸ™‚ Mine had 1 cup of unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze, 1/2 banana, 1 peeled kiwi, handful of frozen strawberries, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, lotsssa spinach, and ice. It was really tasty!

  2. Aaah GMs…I had one today πŸ™‚ Mango, banana, raspberries…all work well πŸ™‚ or banana and nutmeg? And of course peanut butter…or oats, oats are good in GMs πŸ™‚
Congrats on the run anyway πŸ™‚

  3. Swiss chard + mango is a simple combo I’m loving lately. My go-to is usually kale, sunwarrior protein and ormus greens, frozen berries. If it’s green and blended, it’s usually good to me! Have you ever seen the book Green Smoothie Revolution? Ridiculous amount of green smoothie recipes, plus lots of useful information! It’s a great resource to check out.

  4. Good job! I was planning a run today, but it doesn’t look like I’m going to get one in. I’m really late, but the only thing I like in mine are almond milk and a whole banana. Maybe some oatmeal mixed in!

  5. My fave GM is very basic. Here is what i use: Half a cup of milk (regular, or soy), half a cup of water, a handful of spinach and a banana!!
    its delicious.
and good job on ur run!

  6. I love green smoothies! I’d never heard them called green monsters before but the name works especially well in Boston. πŸ™‚

I wrote a post a little while back about my favorite recipe.

I think bananas make the best base fruit, and I tend to opt for strawberries as the other fruit. Frozen spinach is my favorite green to use because of ease and low cost, but I like to use mixed baby greens as well. Yum!

  7. I put cocoa powder and peanut butter in my green monster today – it was an afternoon snack and I figured I could go for a chocolate pb combo with my spinach and banana. It was delicious.

  8. Hi Tina. I’m following you a time ago. Now I’m very exited. thanks to your advice I managed to lower my BMI from 35 to 30. I’m not yet exercising my body at regular intervals, but that is my next step in order to stay healthy.

  9. Ah I love when the weather is perfect for running…its been too hot here the past two days to enjoy afternoon outdoor runs
