After a very productive morning, Saturday afternoon was filled with lounging on the couch and lots of little cat naps.

Well, pug naps.

Around 5 o’clock, Mal and I got ourselves together to meet some friends downtown at Howl at the Moon, a new dueling piano bar in Boston.

We had heard that Howl at the Moon gets crowded quickly, so Mal and I arrived as soon as it opened for the night. We were surprised to see that about 20 people had the exact same idea! There was already a line to get in!

Thankfully, the wait wasn’t very long and about 10 minutes later, Mal and I were drinking beers at the bar.

Neither of us were impressed by the beer choices or the sticky grenadine spilled all over the bar that stained Mal’s shirt. šŸ˜•

But, our friends, Andy, Caitlin, and Josh, soon arrived and the entertainment for the evening started. The pianists (and other musicians) were very talented and definitely got the crowd going. For awhile, we had a fun time singing along and dancing.

Over the course of the evening, I almost drank 3 beers. I ended up leaving some of my last beer on the bar when we left. I just wasn’t feeling it. (Apparently, I wasn’t feeling snapping pictures either. I didn’t get a single one of our friends! Bad blogger.)

Our original plan was to have dinner with our friends at Howl at the Moon, but a table never opened up. So, we ended up ordering food at the bar. I ordered the nachos for dinner and did a pretty good job on them! I don’t think there was a bite of cheese left! šŸ˜‰

Howl at the Moon was fun, but I guess it’s just not our scene anymore. Everyone in our group left by 9:30, and Mal and I were sound asleep by 10:30. Obviously, it was a pretty rockin’ night! šŸ˜‰

  1. We have a Howl at the Moon in Chicago, too! I went there for a bachelorette party–which was really fun! My Saturday night included going to a bonfire for a few hours and then watching an episode of Medium before passing out a little after midnight. šŸ™‚

  2. I went to Howl once and it was WAY too crowded. Plus the vodka drinks are in the tiniest glasses I have ever seen and are expensive. I think it’s overrated…probably because it’s new. I left pretty early when I went there too and there was a huge line to get in.

  3. I’m a pretty big fan of getting in my pj’s early and just hanging around rather than going out. And I’m still in college! Although a few weekends ago friends and I did try to get into Howl at the Moon in Boston, too, but it was already too crowded.

    PS.Those nachos look divine!

  4. I struggle to stay awake until 10:30 some nights! My husband and I wake up pretty early every day so we’re beat by the time evening rolls around. I always feel so silly going to be early on Friday & Saturday nights, but it’s great to wake up early and be productive. šŸ™‚

  5. Sounds pretty similar to my Saturday night! My husband and I went to Casa Romero in Back Bay (good Mexican food!), then came back home and were in bed by 10. Late nights just don’t appeal to me anymore!

  6. I had a very similar “early to bed” night – college football tailgates + a lilllll too much to drink, too early and I was *napping* by eight.. woke up and then couldn’t go back to sleep until almost 2! But, a fun night šŸ˜‰

  7. oh my gosh, those pictures of murphy is sooooo cute. That’s what my boxer looks like right about now.

I wish our town had a piano bar. So fun!

Our Saturday night was fun – we went to the Wake Forest Football Homecoming Game!

  8. We were early to bed too, BUT that’s because we had a 1/2 Marathon this morning! 1:55 total time and I was as pleased as could be. It was a perfect morning to run and a great course. I am, however, happy to have some rest now!

  9. Yeah, but who wants to be out partying at 3am anyway? That’s always been overrated, in my opinion šŸ˜‰ I’m 23, but only do nights like that once in a blue moon. I’d much rather be home by 10:30, even if not asleep!

  10. Sounds like a great Saturday. Once you hit 30, it is all about going out for a few drinks with friends in the city, then heading home with the hubby and relaxing. Then Sundays can be productive! Love your blog, thanks!

  11. Yeah I’m not sure about Howl at the Moon – I want to try it but it doesn’t sound like it’s that great? I tried to go recently but I heard about the lines as well…
