Good morning, friends!
We had lots to celebrate over the weekend. It was my 36th birthday as well as Father’s Day, so we had plenty to smile about!
On Saturday night, Mal and I joined our friends Scotty and Jess for dinner at The Range, a new favorite with awesome outdoor seating that overlooks a driving range. It’s really cool, and we’ve been there a bunch since it opened. (Side note: We actually planned to go to dinner at Solstice, but they were closed for a fundraiser, so The Range was Plan B and ended up being an absolute blast!)
I had the scallops for dinner.
And birthday cake for dessert!
We spent the rest of the evening sitting outside, sipping drinks, chatting, and LAUGHING.
Seriously, we laughed the entire time. In fact, when the night was over, my face hurt from smiling so much. It was seriously one of the best birthday dinners I’ve ever had. SO MUCH FUN.
The next morning, I slept in until 6:45 AM, which, of course, was amazing. Mal and Quinn were already awake, so presents and breakfast were waiting for me!
Trader Joe’s almond croissants = THE BEST!
After breakfast, I really wanted an iced coffee and Mal wanted a green juice, so we headed to Whole Foods for some morning beverages.
I ordered a 1/2 Vietnamese cold brew + 1/2 decaf cold brew, which was strong and slightly sweet and SO GOOD. (Quinn is saying “shoo-shoo” to the nearby birds. He has a love-hate relationship with them.)
After that, a little someone had some energy to burn, so we took a walk around the entire circumference of The Derby Street Shoppes. There was a lot to see and explore (even a front end loader!), so Qman especially had a great time. (You may have seen some of our adventures on Snapchat!)
We, of course, took frequent breaks to re-hydrate.
After running around Derby Street, we headed home. Quinn went down for a nearly 5-hour epic nap. (I definitely went to check on him a couple of times! Growth spurt?!) While he slept, I prepped ALLTHEFOOD. Seriously. I don’t think I’ve ever cooked/prepped so much at one time, but we are eating well FOR SURE this week!
Post-dinner, we headed to JC’s Ice Cream for a little treat. After seeing their coffee soft serve on a friend’s Snapchat, Mal was obsessed with trying it. Haha!
Mal thought the coffee was pretty good, but he liked my vanilla with chocolate sprinkles even more– Quinn did too!
Although, he liked running around JC’s a lot more!
All in all, it was a wonderful double celebration!
The end.
Question of the Day
Did you celebrate anything this past weekend?
It looks like you guys had such a great weekend! Spending your birthday with the people you love and having fun- what more can you ask for?? Also I love your outfit in the first picture!
Fun weekend! I love the celebrations where it’s relaxed and not jam packed with things. Yours had the perfect balance and good treats too!
Happy belated birthday! A 5 hour nap is a pretty nice gift 🙂
Looks so fun! Happy belated!
Father’s Day! I got some good pool time in this weekend!
Happy belated Birthday! Sounds like a great double celebration.
Random: If Q loves trucks and construction vehicles as much as my 2 boys, I highly reccommend “Mighty Machines” on Netflix. It’s videos of all kinds of trucks. The theme song will drive you crazy, though. 🙂
Very cool! We’ll check it out. He lovvvveeees trucks. Thanks for the recommendation! 🙂
Happy Birthday Tina! Your scallops looked so good! Question – do you have family babysit Quinn or do you have a sitter? I have a 19-month old and we don’t go out often, most in part because I ask family to babysit but I don’t like to bother them. So I think we need to finally get a real babysitter, haha because now that it’s summer in New England we need to get out more as a couple! Just curious if you have one and how your experience was? I’m just a little nervous I guess.
We celebrate a friends 40th birthday party, which was fun – I swam in their pool for quite awhile with my little guy, we LOVED it. I then told my husband, we need a pool, haha.
Unfortunately, we don’t have family nearby to babysit, but we lucked out with hiring a woman who used to babysit at KFIT. She already knew Quinn from the childcare there (and he LOVED her), so she’s been our go-to babysitter for awhile now. We’re actually in the market for a back-up babysitter since she’s not always available, and we’ll likely asked some friends at CrossFit if they’re interested. I guess our go-to method for finding babysitter is hitting up gym childcare! 🙂
@Tina:
Thank you, Tina! I didn’t think to ask around my little guys daycare, (duh!) that’s a great place to start!
Aw happy birthday!! That last photo is amazing with the two of them looking different ways. Isn’t it the best when they nap that long? I stare at the monitor to see Ellie’s breathing when she naps long like that.
Happy Birthday! Looks like you had a great day just spending time with family, so nice! This past weekend I had a few Father’s Day celebrations with family. Just a nice, low key weekend spent with family 🙂
Happy birthday! It looks like you had a great weekend full of celebrations.
Happy belated birthday, Tina!
We celebrated father’s day and yesterday was my birthday!
Happy belated birthday to you!
Q running around was so funny on Snapchat! What a fun weekend you guys had. There’s nothing like laughing until it hurts. This weekend we celebrated my husband’s MBA graduation and nephew’s baptism!
Q is so cute
Happy belated birthday! We celebrated Father’s Day and the Cavs’ win this weekend 🙂
Happy birthday! We of course celebrated Father’s Day and then yesterday was my oldest son’s 15th birthday. Can’t believe how time flies!
Happy Birthday! You should totally try the Pistachio/Coffee swirl ice cream at JC’s. I’ve been going there for years. Great place! However, I’ve converted. If you keep driving up 53 towards Pembroke/Kingston there is a place called Dairy Twist. You should totally try the ice cream there!!
Dairy Twist is next on our list! We’ve heard great things about it! 🙂
Happy belated birthday! I celebrated my sister’s birthday, which is the same day as yours, and father’s day!
Happy Birthday! It looks like it was a pretty perfect day! I can’t even imagine what I’d do with 5 hours to myself….
What a wonderful way to spend your birthday. I love your black pants in the first pic — they look super comfy.
Happy Belated Birthday! I’m glad you had so much fun at your dinner. It’s good to laugh. It looks like it was a nice Father’s Day too.
Happy Birthday!! Looks like a great weekend 🙂 love your pants – in the coffee picture!! Super cute. Where are they from?
Thank you! They’re from Lorna Jane! 🙂
Where are your black jogger pants from that you were wearing in the pic with your iced coffee and Quinn? They’re so cute!
Thanks! They’re from Lorna Jane! 🙂
