Do You Like Scary Movies?

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Yesterday afternoon, Marie texted me to see if Mal and I wanted to have dinner with her and Dave at the Abington Ale House later that evening. They didn’t have any food in their house and they didn’t feel like grocery shopping, so they wanted to go out to dinner. Mal and I love the Abington Ale House and, of course, Dave and Marie, so we were game.

When we arrived at the Abington Ale House, I don’t think any of us expected to see this:

Or this?!

But fun!

Not surprisingly, much of our dinner conversation focused on things that frightened us, including the freaky decorations surrounding us and scary movies.

When it comes to scary movies, Mal and Dave said they like them all. Neither of them get scared easily. Marie said she doesn’t like scary movies at all because she hates being startled. I mostly don’t like scary movies because I also don’t like being startled, but I enjoy psychological thrillers, like Shutter Island and Source Code. (Ok, I liked Source Code mostly because of Jake Gyllenhaal.) Movies, like The Ring, however, scare the crap out of me. My sister gave The Ring rave reviews, so I watched it. It scared the hell out of me, and I was on edge for a solid week after that! Man, that movie was freaky.

For dinner, we started with pretzels.

And beer.

I ordered a Shipyard Pumpkinhead with a cinnamon-sugar rim. It was so delicious. I love how the cinnamon-sugar compliments the flavor of the pumpkin. (Has anyone tried Shipyard’s Smashed Pumpkin? I just noticed it on their website. I want it!)

For my entrée, I ordered the French Onion Soup with a side of sweet potato fries.

Can we talk about this overflowing bowl?! Obviously, I was in cheese heaven.

This morning’s breakfast was banana oatmeal in a jar (OIAJ) with ground flaxseed meal and a glass of Godiva Caramel Pecan Bar iced coffee with soy milk.

Murphy knows what happens when I eat Oats in a Jar, so he stood by my feet as I ate. (I don’t normally stand when I eat. I was leaning on the kitchen counter eating and talking to Mal.)

As Murphy watched me eat, his eyes just got crazier and crazier.

Before he spazzed out, I gave Murphy the jar to lick. This pug has a serious peanut butter problem”” he’s worse than me!

Question of the Day

Do you like scary movies?

P.S. Check out my fall giveaway on Trading Up Downtown!

  1. Just like you, I enjoy psychological thrillers but am SO not a fan of other scary movies. I watched “The Ring” through my fingers/through holes in the blanket I had behind (in fact, I probably saw so little of the actual movie that I don’t think I can truly say I even watched it!).

  2. I have to admit, I have never been much of a pug person, but I absolutely LOVE reading about Murphy. He makes me smile everyday. Thank you so much for sharing such funny pictures. 🙂

  3. I HATE scary movies! I also watched “The Ring” and regretted it for months. (Although I enjoyed the parody they did of it in “Scary Movie 3.”
I know I keep saying it, but Murphy is flippin’ adorable!!!!!

  4. I do not like scary movies at all. The Ring freaked me out. And I watched it with a friend who had a well in her front yard. Could not sleep that night.

And I can’t get myself to watch Paranormal Activity either.

  5. I love scary movies, but I can’t handle them like I used to! I always have to watch something funny afterward so I don’t have scary dreams! Also the Abington Ale House is awesome! I looooove their buffalo chicken dip. Oh and you should totally go to Barret’s this year. Last year was my first time and it was scaAaaary- especially the clowns (I’m petrified of them)!

  6. I like scary movies that are not realistic… Like, I know Freddy Kreuger is not going to come back from the dead 50 times.
What I can’t handle, though… are the scary movies that could really happen. For example, “The Strangers.” I was practically in tears in the theater and I still have nightmares to this day about that darn movie.
