Dinner at Alma Nove

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

Iโ€™m the owner of Carrots โ€˜Nโ€™ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and canโ€™t lose weight no matter what they do.

Last night, I enjoyed a lovely dinner with Anne, Elizabeth, and Ali at Alma Nove at the Hingham Shipyard. After running 6 miles in the pouring rainย that morning, we deserved a relaxing night out! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Alma Nove is located right on the Hingham harbor, so we enjoyed some really beautiful views during dinner. The cuisine is inspired by a mix of Italian and Mediterranean, and the wine, microbrew, and cocktail lists are quite extensive. There were a number of fun signature cocktails that caught my eye!

Alma Nove is owned by Chef Paul Wahlberg. Recognize the last name? As in Mark and Donnie Walhberg? Chef Paul is their brother. Those Wahlbergs are a talented bunch, aren’t they? We hoped for a celebrity sighting during dinner, but no luck.

My fabulous dinner dates!

We started with a round of drinks. Obviously.

For dinner, I ordered a salad made with local baby arugula, gorgonzola, San Daniele prosciutto, and port soaked figs and a side of Porcini Polenta Cake.

The salad was fantasticโ€โ€ lots of flavor, amazingly sweet figs, and a big chunks of gorgonzola cheese throughout. No complaints about the salad. The polenta cake, however, was just so-so. It tasted fine, but it was nothing special. It just didn’t have a ton of flavor or many mushrooms mixed in. I guess it was just kind of blah.

During dinner, I also ate some freshly bakedย bread dipped in olive oil and a bunch of bites from a wonderful roasted beet salad that Anne and Ali shared. I might order it for myself the next time I visit Alma Nove!

After dinner, the four of us checked out the seating area outside, which included a fabulous fire pit surrounded by comfy chairs and couches.ย

We all agreed that we should have met for a cocktail before dinner, so we could have relaxed outside near the fire pit. Next time!

We ended up walking and talking on the waterfront for a little while longer before saying goodbye. I swear, the four of us could have chatted all night long. We all had so many funny stories to share!

I’m a big fan of Alma Nove, so I think you’ll see it a lot more of it on CNC in the future!

  1. I believe that Alma Nove is in the same shopping center with Fresh Market, where you can pick up some Graeter’s ice cream. Try it next time! (Google it, if you don’t know the deliciousness that is Graeter’s) And next time we drive to Hingham to pick up said ice cream, perhaps we’ll try Alma Nove.

  2. I love a fun girl’s night out, and your salad looked really good. I love arugula and gorgonzola salads.

I am hoping to find some cool restaurants like this in Philly during the HLSummit. Blogger dinners are so much fun because no one will look at me weird when I bust out the camera to start taking pictures of my food!

  3. I did not know about that fire pit. I must go back! I went a couple weekends ago with my mom, sister, and matron of honor after trying on some wedding dresses at Country Brides. I had this awesome pasta dish with eggplant and a great cocktail with St-Germain.

  4. oOooo Mark Wahlberg’s bro?!! that’s really cool. ๐Ÿ˜€ And Alma Nove seems so nice and a fun place for a fancy night out. I’m surprised the polenta cake was so so! it looks so good haha. Have a beautiful day Tina!

  5. Beautiful ladies! I love the fact that you have a SLR camera at the dinner table ๐Ÿ™‚ I cant wait to get mine, waiting on it from Amazon and have a photography class this coming semester, so excited!

  6. Looks like a gorgeous restaurant!

Where is it exactly? My husband is heading to Boston on business in the fall! I’ll make sure he checks it out!

  7. Tina, I just finished your book last night and I wanted to say thank you for sharing so much of yourself. It made me feel like I’m not alone and that I can overcome struggles too. I’ve turned to food often for comfort and ate six cookies without even registering what I did. I’ve used food to fill up when I’m feeling “empty”.

I’m giving up my scale for two months (due to a suggestion from a friend of mine and you!), and I’m just going to concentrate on eating healthy real food, with the occasional treat.

    Thanks again!

  8. here’s a side note from a true NKOTB stalker..I believe Alma is the name of the Wahlberg brothers mom! like I said..stalker over here! ๐Ÿ™‚
the outside area looks lovely..so do you ladies!

  9. I love Mark Wahlberg! I have been a huge fan of Entourage forever and one time I was at a restaurant in LA where he was standing right next to me. I must have gasped pretty loud because he turned and waved. I was pretty embarassed but he is very cute in person.

  10. I’ve been wanting to try Alma Nove – glad to see another positive review and the fire pit looks so cozy and fun. There’s a Red Mango in that shopping center too, to take care of any post-dinner dessert cravings. Red Mango’s self-serve model rocks my world.
