Cross #41 off the list!!

Last night, my uncle, Mark, and aunt, Linda, treated Mal and me to dinner at the Top of the Hub to celebrate my 30th birthday. The Top of the Hub is a fancy-schmancy, fine dining restaurant at the top of the Prudential building in downtown Boston. It’s been a goal of mine to have dinner there since I was 22-years-old, so I was really looking forward to this night!

The four of us arrived a few minutes early, so while waiting for a table, we ordered a round of drinks.

I ordered a dirty vodka martini with olives. My fav!

A little while later, we were invited to sit down at our table for the evening.

My uncle managed to get us a table with a gorgeousĀ view of the city.

For starters, the table shared theĀ Pan Seared Foie Gras, which was served with a mini cinnamon roll and blueberry-honey drizzle. Holy amazing! The foie gras was so flavorful and the savory combination with the sweet blueberry-honey drizzle was out of this world!

We also ordered the Jonah and Lump Crabmeat Cake with avocado cream and roasted pepper remoulade. Both appetizers were so delicious, we ended up ordering a second round of each to share among the table.

We also enjoyed some wine with dinner.

For my entree, I ordered the Linguine All’Aragosta, which came with huge chunks of steamed lobster,Ā San Marzano tomatoes, roasted garlic, and a piece of thin garlic bread on top. This dish was fantastic, especially the lobster!

Then came the birthday cake for dessert!!

What a way to end the meal: chocolate ganache cake! šŸ˜€

I was a very happy lady!

I practically licked my plate clean!

After dessert, I enjoyed an espresso with Sambuca on the side.

Mal and I had such a blast with my aunt and uncle. They love travel and food as much as we do, so we had lots to talk about over the course of the night. Fun times! šŸ˜€

My uncle works for the company that owns the Prudential (hence the awesome hook-up), so he showed us a sweet model of the Pru and surrounding buildings.

Mal and I geeked-out and asked a million questions.

  2. What an amazing night! Looks like a fabulous birthday celebration to me.

I had the chance to have a couple of glasses of wine there a few years ago on a business trip- but no dinner for me. šŸ™ The views are absolutely amazing though, it was worth it just for the views!

    Happy Birthday!

  3. This looks like such a wonderful dinner!!! A birthday is always the best reason to hit up a good restaurant šŸ™‚ And any place that serves a cinnamon roll before the entree has to be incredible! Enjoy your Sunday!

  4. AH..I went to school in Boston my freshman year of college and have always wanted to eat at the restaurant! Somehow my friends and I always ended up at the Cheesecake Factory in the Pru instead…college life šŸ˜‰

  5. John and I are going to Top of the Hub this week for Restaurant Week – can’t wait! Looks like a great place to celebrate a special occasion :).

  6. Okay… awesome dinner!

Is it your aunt who is blood related or your uncle? Because your aunt and you totally have a lot of resemblence going on!

  7. Looks like a great night. šŸ™‚ I loved eating at the top of the John Hancock building in Chicago, awesome view and awesome food, looks like the Top of the Hub is a similar setup.

  8. I went there for my birthday last year. It was without a doubt the best meal I’ve ever eaten: braised short ribs with gnocchi and a creme brulee for dessert. I love how they come over and clean up your mess as you’re eating– I never realized what a messy eater I was until that night!
