Crazy Crema

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

The Crema Cafe in Harvard Square is always insane! It doesn’t matter what time of day it is either! It’s not necessarily a bad thing, especially for Crema. They’re obviously doing well for good reason, but yowsahs! It’s nutty in there!

Check out the line! There’s actually a sizable group of people to the right that didn’t make it into the photo. Thankfully, the employees move the line along quickly.

Waiting in line wasn’t that bad, especially with this view:

Deliciousness!

I didn’t end up buying a treat because I brought a snack for later, but I purchased a Ginger Lemonade. It’s become an obsession! 😯

My afternoon snack was a vanilla-flavored Oikos Greek yogurt with a Nature’s Valley granola bar crumbled into it.

Mmmmm… it was dessert-like!

Lunch was a homemade salad with greens, grape tomatoes, broccoli, watermelon, sliced almonds, and the last of the yucca fries.

Lunch also included a Peanut Butter & Jelly Larabar.

Some of you were dying to hear about how this new flavor tasted! And my verdict: Amazing! 😀 The PB & J bar tasted just like a just-made peanut butter and jelly sandwich, but firmer and smoother. As soon as I finished eating it, I really wanted another one! This flavor is a new fav!

Mal is planning “date night” for us this evening, which I am very much looking forward to. I believe we are going out to dinner, but I’m not sure where. Mal is picking the place!  😀

Happy Friday, blog friends! Enjoy!

  1. I don’t think I could stand in that long line, looking at those yummy goodies and only purchase a drink! What amazing will-power you have!!

  2. Ahhh I want the PB&J Lara!! It sounds incredible! I love your Greek yogurt combo. Have fun on date night 🙂

  3. I LOVE those Nature Valley granola bars but always thought of them as unhealthy and stopped eating them.
    Do you know the stats?
Do they have HFCS or hydrogenated anything in them?

  4. Crema is sooo busy when I go in there, it’s a pain in the butt if you wanna sit and use your computer! But I like supporting them because it’s run by two women in their 20’s.. I think they’re around my age (24).

  5. I haven’t tried Larabars because none of the flavors really appealed to me, but now I’m dying to try the PB & J!!!

  6. I almost went to Crema for lunch today, was craving their sweet potato sandwich!

I really want to try that Larabar, looks delicious!!

  7. I would be willing to pay for your other PB&J bar!

If you want to bake something decadent, look up Ina Garten’s Recipe for Peanut Butter & Jelly Bars. It’s one of my all time favorite recipes.

  8. I sooooo want to try the new Larabar flavors! The PB&J would probably be my new fav as well! Also I so wish I could get greek yogurt in Canada! We can get Stoneyfield Yogurt just not the greek stuff…grrrrr!!

  9. Oooooo..I agree BethT Ina Garten’s Peanut Butter & Jelly Bars are so decadent and delish! Also one of my favorite recipes!

  10. What will Lara come up with next? I am actually pleased with the banana-chocolate Jamfrakas bars (Laras for kids) and I found them for 25 cents the other day! Maybe others weren’t so pleased?

  11. I’ve had the PB&J bar. It was worthy of an encore. The peanut butter flavor was fresh and the hint of cherry set it off just right. I can’t wait til we can find them locally.

Those pastries in the glass cases remind me of Paris.

  12. Wowww I want that Lara Bar
Tina– perhaps time to start using the starbucks red& blue thermos for your lemonade? save some plastic 😉

  13. OMG..I know..Crema is CRAZY sometimes. I feel that it’s better a little better since the students left for the summer but your picture disproves my “theory”! I had a problem with my “Crema” card (those card you can put money on) and the owners were super responsive and nice..that makes me love the place all the more =) Have a fun Friday night!

  14. How on earth did you go there and only come out with a lemonade?!?! Haha! It all looks so good.

I MUST try that PB&J bar, you made it sound so good! I just received the Tropical Fruit Tart one today and it’s delish!

Have fun with Mal tonight!! 🙂

  15. Have fun on your date!! I love going out on dates with my boyfriend. Especially now that we live together. It’s fun to lock him out of the bedroom and get dressed up!! The best part is that I don’t have to drive home afterward (we used to live 40 minutes away from each other)

There’s a popular bagel store near my parents’ house that always has a line out the door like the one you describe. I want to try the PB&J larabar!!!

  16. Yeah I’m glad the PB&J Lara bar is yummy. I’m going to have to look for one now. And I’m also excited to go to crema the next time I’m in Boston. I have meetings there occassionally and I really want to try it. I love cute coffee shops instead of Starbucks.

  17. The baked goods at Crema look great!! I can’t beleive I’ve never been there. I am going to have pop in for a treat soon 🙂

  18. I’ve been to Crema before once and it was just as insane – but you’re right totally worth it! I got the an awesome sandwich with sweet potato, hummus, apple, and sprouts. So good. I’m going to have to remind Brian that we need to go back. 🙂

Hope you have a great dinner tonight. Happy Weekend!

  19. U drive me nuts with all ur awesome pics! LOL I’ve decided it’s time to start oatmealing it, at least a couple times a week. I’ve done this after seeing all the neat ideas you have and ways u create it!

As for workouts… I’m an all or nothing person.. hence my bad eating habits, a whole BAG of oreos as opposed to 2 to fill a need.. lol… but that’s in my past! I do better when I work out every day. I take Sundays off, most times, but not because I really want to as much as my gym has sucky hours on Sundays.. 8am-1pm for the summer. I think after labor days it goes back to 8-5 both Sat & Sun (still not great hours but doable I guess).

  20. BTW.. what’s this “Ginger Lemonade”, think you could re-create it? Just a touch of crystalized ginger for sweetening or what? Do tell!
