Reunited at last: the four Cozzens cousins!
Last night, I enjoyed dinner with my sister and my cousins, Meeghan and Heidi, who lived in the Southwest for years, but recently moved home to Massachusetts. Meeghan moved to Colorado in 1999 and later to New Mexico, so I haven’t seen her very much in the past 12 years. I saw Heidi before the Arizona Rock ”˜N’ Roll Marathon in January, but she moved to Arizona about five years ago.
Long story short, I am SO happy that Meeghan and Heidi are finally home. Growing up, we spent all of our time together and had so much fun, so it’s great to have them around again. I’m sure you’ll see a lot more of them on CNC in the future.
You’ll probably see a lot of their dogs too.
Dinner
Before dinner, we snacked on buffalo wing-flavor Pretzel Crisps, which are insanely addictive. Meeghan and I pretty much finished the entire bag ourselves. I also drank a glass of Malbec over the course of the evening.
For dinner, my sister made Veggie Chili with tomatoes, peppers, corn, celery, chickpeas, and kidney beans in the mix. It was super spicy”” just the way I like it!
We also had corn bread and brownies with dinner.
After dinner, the four of us reminisced about our childhood for hours. I can’t remember the last time I laughed so hard! We were so ridiculous as kids!
Speaking of family, if you live locally, be sure to enter my giveaway to win $40 to Sibling Rivalry in the South End!
Breakfast
This morning’s breakfast was a whole wheat wrap with peanut butter, banana, and chia seeds inside– and, of course, a glass of iced coffee with soy milk.
Question of the Day
What’s your family like? Do you come from a big family or small family?

My immediate family is very tight knit, despite living in separate cities and states! We act like little kids when we’re around each other…I love it!
I’m also Italian on my mother’s side, and boy oh boy do we fit that crazy italian stereotype with our loud talking, food loving, wine drinking antics!
Great to reconnect with family! My family is small – just me, brother and parents. My brother used to live here in NYC with me but was transferred last year. LUCKILY he is recently engaged to woman who lives here in NYC. Fingers crossed that brother bear moves back!
PS – have you tried the Cinnamon Sugar version of those pretzels? AMAZING. Also, dip em in cream cheese. I swear its delish 😉
I have a large family but we’re not close. I’m only close to my immediate family and a couple others. I am marrying into a larger family that is all very close so it’s certainly been different. Sometimes I feel closer to my fiance’s family than my own! It’s crazy! But I love it. I love them so much. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to marry into.
My mom came from a big family (she’s the oldest of 6), but my dad only has one sister. My cousins on my dad’s side are all at least 10 years older than me, but ironically I have WAY more fun hanging out with them than with the ones my age on my mom’s side. They’re all incredibly outgoing party animals, which always makes for some good family gatherings!
So nice to be with your family. Makes me miss my cousins and family in Massachusetts. Also reminds me that I can’t stay in Seattle forever 🙂
How fun to reunite with your cousins. I grew up with several cousins (“kissing cousins”) my age and once my family moved away we saw each other less. However, whenever we get together its just like old times! I love looking back at the past with them! I also love that facebook keeps us up to date on each others lives.
My immediate family is pretty big – I have two sisters that are both married with two kids! Then my mom has 6 brothers and sisters that all have kids who have kids…then my boyfriend’s family is also huge! Unfortunately, all the extended fam lives far away, so we don’t get to see them as often as we’d like, but it’s so fun when we do!
Great pictures (and great dogs too!!) Look forward to getting to know all of your cousins and their pets through your blog! I have only one brother and don’t see him often at all. Not that there are “issues”, we’re just very different people in different phases in our lives. My husband’s siblings all live on the other side of the country, so because of that, my friends have really become my “family”!
That must be so nice to have your cousins living nearby again! We’re really close with my mom’s side of the family and see them at least once a month. I always look forward to it! 😀
My parents only had 3 kids, so I guess I come from a small-ish family. BUT between my 2 brothers I have 8 nieces and nephews! So our family gathers are pretty insane these days.
My family is itty bitty! I only have 2 first cousins and they are both 20 years older than me and live out of state. Our neighbors became like our family.
I love love love my family. I have especially gotten closer with them the older I get. I would say my mom and my sister are 2 of my best friends. I just signed up for my first 1/2 mara with my sister, I am so excited to share that bond with her. Plus, I am very close with my younger brother and dad. I consider myself so incredibly blessed to be close to my family! Although, of course, we drive eachother crazy sometimes too 🙂
This post makes me miss the fam! We have a pretty big family, but we’re scattered all around — we’re all from Austin, but my brother lives in Cincinnati, sister lives in Austin, and I live with the hubby in CA. Parents alternate between SoCal + Austin, and my hubby’s family is mostly in H-town. Bah! It’s hard to get everyone in one place. Have fun with your cuzzies back in town — what a blessing! xo
That chili looks goooooood!
You remind me of me and my cousins! There are four “girl” cousins relatively close in age (3 years difference total) and we would spend so much time to gether when we were younger!!
I come from a fairly small close-knit family. My dad’s sister never had children, so my sister and I don’t have cousins on that side. But I have six cousins on my mother’s side. I love that we get along so well.
We have a pretty small family – and my oldest cousin is over 10 years younger than me! As a result, I’m really close to my sister and our immediate family is really close, but we’re not as close to our extended family!
That vegetarian chili looks so good! I love chili and cornbread – I’ve been craving it for weeks now!
Cornbread and brownies are two of my favorite treats 🙂 That chilli looks fantastic, too! Glad you had a fun time!
Buffalo Wing pretzel crisps are gonna be a new must-buy for the fam! Sounds great!
I have a big family, and we’re pretty close. Not call each other 3 times a day close, but happy close! I’m so happy that I’m going to be moving nearby to them this summer when I get married HOORAY!!
I just tried pretzel chips for my first time in the airport of spring break. LOVED THEM! The buffalo kind sounds great!
I come from a really big family and we are all reallly close! I am not close with my cousins on my dad’s side though–they live far away and are way older than me and my sibs!
Looks like you had fun 🙂
Why after every morning post of yours do I crave Iced Coffee??? LOL. I am going to have to add those buffalo chips to my shopping list as I started drooling when I saw them 🙂
I hope you have a cuz’ins rap
My dad is 1 of 11 and my mom is 1 of 3. With aunts, uncles and cousins, my dads side of the family is close to 100 relatives now with marriages and new babies. It’s crazy! We only all only get together about twice a year. I myself come from a family of five and we are super close. My sister, brother and I pretty much hang with the same group of friends, so we are always together when my brother is in town. It’s fun!
aaww, I love that. My cousins on my mom’s side are all super close, but on my dad’s side, everyone lives far away from me in Ohio. I’m jealous of your cute little reunion!
I am from a very small family. I am an only child and I only have two cousins who have moved away and I haven’t seen them in over 5 years. I have a huge extended family (my grandma is 1 of 12) but I only see all of them at weddings, reunions, etc.
I do have a BIG and LOUD family. I wouldn’t want it any other way 🙂
My family extended family is big, I guess, but it seems small because I didn’t grow up spending a lot of time with my aunts, uncles and cousins. I have 10 cousins, but I barely know them. I have one sister and she doesn’t have any kids yet, so my daughter is my parents’ only grandchild, which is a pretty sweet deal. 😉
My husband has a HUGE family. He’s one of four and between the four of them, there are 13 kids..soon to be 14. One of his sisters is pregnant with baby #8!
Aw, it is always really nice to hang out with family. I am one of seven siblings and over the past 10 years we have dispersed to places all over the country and the world, now there are 5 of 7 living at home in Ohio and I will be joining them in about a month, I can’t wait! Enjoy your time while everyone is nearby!
oh, i come from a HUGE family. I’m the youngest of 4, so I have 6 nieces and 1 nephew. 🙂 Total 17 people in the immediate family. Our get together are a lot of fun… with lots of food, alcohol, cake, and tea. 🙂
Yay! I LOVE cousins….just saw 2 that I hadn’t seen in a while at Easter, and it was great. My family is medium – I have one sister, and each of my parents has 3 siblings, so I have several cousins, aunts and uncles on each side.
Cornbread and brownies… ooh, next time can you make cornbread brownies? Surely that would work…
I’m beginning to have a glass of iced coffee every day. It is so good and comforting. However, I was wondering if you ever feel that you are dependent on it, not for caffiene but just as a habit? That’s what it is feeling like for me, although it’s only been a week or so.
