Corn for Breakfast

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Remember when Sabrina and I visited the Women’s Day offices?

Well, the magazine that we’re holding in the photo includes a yummy recipe for Corn Fritters. The fritters are made with corn and cornbread mix, and tasted delicious with a drizzle of maple syrup on top. Mmm!

The Women’s Day photo looks a lot prettier than mine, but you get the idea, right? 😉

I also enjoyed some cinnamon iced coffee with soy milk with breakfast.

Look who is passed out on my lap(top) right now! 😆

VinoVoyage III

Wahoo!! VinoVoyage III is next week!!! If you’d like to attend, there are still tickets available. Here’s my recap of VinoVoyage II. It was awesome!

Question of the Day

What are some of your favorite magazines?

P.S. Remember Finn? He’s Murphy’s pug buddy. Finn wants you to vote for his mom, Leigh, who was selected as a finalist by DailyCandy for their Start Small, Go Big Contest. Facebook users can vote ONCE PER DAY through September 29th! Please make this pug happy! 😉

  1. Aww Murphy is just the sweetest ever! 🙂 I’m loving all of the cute pictures of him,

Your corn fritters look wonderful Tina! I want to try that recipe, it looks delicious.

I have so many favorite magazines but I tend to read mostly baking/cooking magazines.

  2. I hardly read magazines anymore..but I’ve actually gotten into skimming through home/cooking magazines while waiting in line at the grocery store or something. Other than that I’ll sometimes pick up a Shape or some fitness magazine at the gym.

  3. My favorite magazine is Real Simple. I’m amazed at how much helpful/informative content they pack into each monthly issue- makes me feel like I’m really getting my money’s worth!

  4. I really like Shape, Self and Glamour. I’m not always crazy about some of the messages they send out (Lose 10 pounds this month, etc), but they always keep me motivated and give me new ideas for workouts.

  5. I LOVE Real Simple. I get excited to see it in my mail box once a month. I’d love to start reading a health magazine – but I get tired of the focus on weight loss/looking good, so a lot of them just don’t interest me. Any suggestions for great healthy living magazines?

  6. Those pancakes look good!!! I love cornbread and those types of things.

Vino Voyage sounds like a great time. I don’t think Murphy could handle it though. 😉

  7. I am such a magazine reader. For some reason I cannot just “do one thing” and always need to have something–words–in front of my face.

I read watching TV and eating breakfast (sometimes lunch too!)…recently I’ve been reading “vintage” aka 10 year old — Cooking Light and Vegetarian Times. My dad also got a freebie subscription to “La Cucina Italiana” so I read that.

  8. Those corn fritters look awesome! I love corn fritters, or any fritters really. I also love hush puppies. They are a lot like fritters.

My favorite magazines are InStyle, Women’s Health, Lucky, Self, Marie Claire and any gossip mag. I also love Real Simple and all kinds of home magazines.

  9. Awh, sleepy pug head!

My favorite magazines would have to be Harper’s Bazaar and Real Simple. I also secretly love Martha Stewart Living and reading her monthly calendar (so ridiculous!).

  10. Gimmie some corn fritters, a blanket and a good book and I’m set. Those look yummy!

I like Women’s Health, they usually have pretty good recipes and good workouts as well.

  11. Yum for corn fritters! Cooking Light had a great recipe for corn fritters with slices of beefsteak tomatoes this summer. They were more savory than sweet though 🙂

Favorite magazine is definitely Clean Eating. Have a great day!

  12. that photo of murphy is killing me!
the corn fritters look super good. it reminds me of all the times i was allowed to put maple syrup on cornbread muffins when i was a kid– sugar overload for adults now, though!

my fave magazine is vegetarian times, but i’m also addicted to ANYTHING martha stewart. i love whole living, and miss blueprint so much!

  13. I’m super addicted to magazines and I think I have a problem! I have subscriptions to Women’s Health, Health, Fitness, Whole Living and Everyday with RR. My mom just ordered Good Housekeeping for me as a gift. Sometimes I’ll pick up Real Simple, Women’s Day, Shape, Cooking Light, or the Food Network magazine. See…so addicted!

  14. Yum I love corn! It tastes so hearty. My favorite magazines are all the old lady ones (think Women’s Day, Family Circle, Ladies Home Journal, etc.) plus Cosmo and Glamour. Oh and Women’s Health. Self. Shape….

  15. Yum – Those corn fritters look awesome! Maybe I’ll make brinner (break fast for dinner) tonight! Favorite magazines… Hm. Gotta be Real Simple or Cooking Light. I love it when I check my mail and get a magazine to look through! I go through Cooking Light, tear out the recipes I want to try, and put them in plastic sleeves in a notebook. Yay, orginization!

  16. I used to be a US Weekly, People, Health, Self, Fitness, Women’s Health, and Cosmo junkie. But ever since I started reading blogs a little over a year ago, I feel that I no longer need nor want the fitness mags. Also, I feel better about myself since I kicked the US Weekly, People, and Cosmo habit. Being bombarded every week with celebrities and models made me feel less about myself, and focus what they have and how they look in comparison to me. Bloggers have better food porn pics, inventive ideas related to fitness and food, and overall healthy message anyway 🙂
Love the pics of Murphy esp yesterday’s bug eyed ones 🙂

  17. I used to get Shape and Fitness but now I just get Oxygen magazine. I also like Clean Eating because it’s full of great recipes and Health magazine.
