Cool Things with Demetri Martin

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Good morning and happy Friday! 😀 I am off from work today, so I slept in, enjoyed a yummy breakfast, and now I am gearing-up for a 9 mile run. I have never run 9 miles in a row, so this run is going to be unchartered territory

This morning’s oatmeal was a lovely mix of wheat bran, ground flaxseed meal, vanilla hemp milk, banana, walnuts, and, of course, peanut butter. I finished off the PB jar this morning!

Approximate measurements:

  • 1/3 cup dry oats
  • 1/4 cup wheat bran
  • 2 tbsp ground flaxseed meal
  • 2/3 cup vanilla hemp milk
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp chopped walnuts

Running fuel…

Demetri Martin

Demetri Martin’s show last night was, as expected, hysterical!! And I had 2 cool Demetri Martin things happen to me yesterday!

First Cool Thing:

Yesterday afternoon at work, I was super busy, but managed to slip out after lunch for an iced coffee. While walking around Harvard Square enjoying the sunshine, I do a double-take on this guy, who looks a lot like Demetri Martin, but I walk right by him. Then it occurs to me that it is totally possible that Demetri Martin is in Harvard Square because he has a few shows in Boston. I turn around and approach him.

Our conversation:

  • T: Excuse me, are you Demetri Martin?
  • D: Yes.
  • T: Hi, I’m Tina. (hand shake) I’m actually seeing your show tonight.
  • D: Yea, I got here early.
  • T: (I see that he is writing notes in a small notebook) Are you taking notes for the show tonight?
  • D: Yea, I’m trying to get some ideas.
  • T: Cool. Well, I will see you tonight.
  • D: See you tonight. Bye.

I was so nervous while talking to him, but I tried to act cool! 😉 For being such a funny guy, he was really mellow and laid-back. Maybe he didn’t expect anyone to recognize him in Harvard Square?

Second Cool Thing:

The second cool thing that happened was at the actual comedy show. Within 5 minutes of starting his performance, Demetri recaps our brief encounter in Harvard Square and that I said I would be at his show tonight!! Crazy, right? And then he says, “Is Tina here?” Of course, I am surprised (and sort of embarrassed) and try to yell that I am at the show, but my voice didn’t carry at all and our seats were so far back that he didn’t hear me. Thinking that I was not at the show, he says, “She just made me look like a desperate psycho!” The whole thing was pretty hilarious, but I am curious what his joke could have been if he knew I was there! I feel like he would have come up with something really funny. Oh well. It was still an awesome experience and a fun story to tell!

As you can see, our seats were pretty far back. We were partway up the mezzanine level.

The man himself…

Ok, time to RUN

Question of the Day

Have you ever met someone famous? Tell me your story!

  1. SO cool, Tina! I would never have the guts to come up to him… great job! 🙂
I’ve seen a few celebrities in real life, but I never talked to them…

  2. Good luck with your nine mile run. I hope it went well. I wish I had the day off. My school district was the only school district in a 150 mile radius that had to go to school today.

  3. That is SUCH a cool story. I’ve never met anyone famous before, but I’d love to meet my favorite comedian (Louis CK) in person!! Gah, so jealous of your shout-out!

  4. I met Zachary Ty Bryan when I was 12 at the Chandler Ostrich Festival. I remember I was shaking with nervousness. I asked him a few dumb questions. My dad had the wherewithall to talk to him just like he was any other kid. Zachary seemed kind of uncomfortable. Of course, who wouldn’t be when you’re a kid and people are terrified of meeting you.

  5. I use to work at a boutique hotel in Napa, CA and Mandy Patinkin- the guy who played Inigo Montoya in The Princess Bride stayed at our property while doing a gig at the Opera House. He was so nice and the whole time I had the urge to say to him “My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to Die!” Luckily, I managed to hold back! It was so cool, ’cause The Princess Bride is one of my favorite movies of all time!

  6. HAHAHAH I just came back from his show – that’s so cool that you met him! I should have read your latest blog entry before the show then I could have been like I KNOW TINA! SHE SAYS HI! He’s so laid back which is really refreshing!

  7. First off, #58 – Kori – that is TOO cool! I love that movie, too! Not sure I would have been able to hold back from saying his line…haha

As for me, I met Tara Lipinski once. I was on vacation in Orlando, FL but training (yes on vacay) at the local rink and having a normal skating practice. Then, they tell us Tara is in town for her b-day celebration at Disney and is going to have a practice session with her friend after ours. 10 of us area allowed in the rink area to watch and I’m one of them! So, we got to watch her and her friend do a practice session and then we got her autograph afterwards. It was pretty cool, but I am a die-hard Michelle Kwan fan!

  8. i met bret michaels from poison (before his rock of love days). it was fantastic, we took a picture and he put his arm around me and i put my hand on his stomach like it was prom.
