Good morning! Yay for Friday! And a long weekend! 😎

Murphy stayed up way past his bed time last night. He looks soooo tired in this picture! He did not want to leave the couch for his crate. Poor guy!

IMG_6268Mal and Murph are passed out in bed right now. They’re seriously so cute! Murphy is sound asleep on Mal’s arm just snoring away!

Both of them have the day off today. Lucky ducks!

This morning was perfect for a warm, comforting bowl of oats. It seems like fall has arrived already.Β

In the mix:

Breakfast also included iced coffee with chocolate soy milk.

Cookie Friday

Don’t forget that it’s Cooke Friday today!

Here’s a little inspiration from a reader!

Question of the Day

What’s the best birthday party you’ve ever had?

I am grateful for pug tails and double-dates on Friday nights!

  1. Best Birthday Party was this year, turning 26 and having all my closest friends & family able to attend! It can be hard getting everyone together at once! A fun Dinner at ”Magic Time Machine” with a grumpy/sarcastic Snow White as my waitress!

  2. Mal and Murphy are so cute together!

I still remember my birthday party when I turned 5….A Strawberry Shortcake ice cream cake, and I got a stuffed animal cat that I cherished from then on. Haven’t had a lot of “parties” as an adult to celebrate my birthday, but the most memorable birthday celebration was a trip to Bar Harbor when my husband proposed. No cake, but an even better gift!

  3. Hey Tina! Isn’t it so fun to have a dog in bed? I love waking up to Frank snoring and laying smashed between Josh and I πŸ™‚ Ohhh wrinkles. Hope you have a GREAT cookie Friday. I’m going to celebrate with a pumpkin spice misto! I got starbucks cards from three different people (Yes, I do love starbucks haha)

  4. My best birthday party was when I turned 21 (not because of the 21 as in Canada legal drinking age is 19 anyways). My two roommates organized me a surprised birthday party. I’m pretty reserved and never anything more than a dinner for my birthday, and even then, that birthday was planned to be just a fancier homecooked dinner with my roommates. We had some other friends who lived in the building so they call me around 7 and ask if I could take a look at their computer (this had happened before so I wasn’t suspecting it at all), and that was where the people did the ‘surprise’. We then came back to my apartment where my roomies had a bunch of food and liquor and decorations hidden in their rooms that I had NOT noticed at all. I hadn’t expected it at all. It was awesome.

  5. Murphy is SO cute! I love celebrating birthdays! I think they are all my favorite. My mom and I always go to the mall for a shopping spree to celebrate!

  6. Aaww, Murphy is soooo cute!

Mmm…iced coffee with chocolate soy sounds delish!

    Yay for Cookie Friday!
Isn’t it sad that I can’t remember my best birthday party?? I’ve always had good ones, but I don’t have a particular one that stands out πŸ™ Yikes, the mind is going!

  7. Aww…little Murphy, all tuckered out. Too cute! πŸ˜€ I love how puppies can be all wild and crazy in one moment and sleepy/droopy the next.

My favorite birthday was my 21st, when I spent the day in Boston. It was fun trying out a new restaurant and spending time with the people that mean the most to me in my life. πŸ˜€

    Happy, HAPPY Friday! πŸ˜€

  8. Aww Murphy is so cute!! I still need to try the chocolate soy milk/iced coffee combo. I use vanilla soy milk. How much of it do you put in?

My favorite birthday was definitely my 21st. I had a two day party ending with eating at Ruby Foo’s in NYC with a bunch of close friends!

    Have a great cookie Firday!

  9. I only ever had one birthday party…it was the year I turned 15. My dad had just built a pole barn, so myself and about 8 other girls spent the night out there. We had a bonfire, a radio going, went swimming and had lots of fun! Plus, we felt like we were “on our own” out there!

  10. My favorite birthday memory was when I turned eight. Those were the days your entire classroom was invited to the party and everyone looked forward to it for weeks. My mother’s friend organized this big shebang with games, prizes, pizza, and this Sarah Lee double chocolate cake I’ve never been able to find since.

The year after that the politics began–“I’m not inviting her because she’s weird,” “I’m not inviting her because my best friend doesn’t like her” etc.–so that was the end of the utopian childhood birthdays πŸ™

  11. Happy Friday!

My favorite Birthday, boy i don’t even know. One year i went and painted pottery, and that was so much fun to me! i love doing artsy things! πŸ™‚ what about you?

Mal and Murphy are adore. just love them

  12. Tina, that is the sweetest thing ever-mal and murphy are best friends!!! I love the picture you posted of murphy just sitting patiently at mal’s feet while he cooks dinner. πŸ™‚ So cute!!! I hope you have an awesome cookie friday!

  13. Awwww…Murphy is honestly such a sweet looking little puppy. Every time I see a pic I just wnat to run out and get a new puppy! Not sure my 2 dogs would appreciate a puppy that is cuter than them!! :>
My best birthday was 27. I met my husband that night!
    Adventures in Tri-ing

  14. Great oats for a Fall day, it’s 50 degrees here in Minneapolis!
Yay for cookie Friday and I have a dollar off coupon for an iced coffee at Caribou!
Best Birthday Party was my 18th when all my family and friends planned a surprise party and it was the last year my Grandma was there to make me a cake!

  15. I love it when my birthday comes when we are taking a vacation, because you can do a lot of different things and eats that you wouldn’t normally have. This has happen plenty of times and I love them all!

  16. I love waking up when my doggies are using me or the pillow as a pillow πŸ™‚

My favorite birthday by far was my 12th because it was the first I didn’t have to share with my little brother. His birthday is 5 days before mine and every other one we had a combined party. A close second is when my highschool friends all had a combined birthday and we went to chuck e. cheese right before going to college πŸ™‚

  17. I think my most memorable birthday would be my sixth. My mom baked me a cake that looked like a hamburger with eyes to take to Kindergarten with me. I got to wear a crown in my K class, and then my mom brought me balloons and flowers, too. Since I was in a half-day Kindergarten, I went to my daycare program afterwards, and got to have a second cake decorated with Cinderella that afternoon! I remember being so surprised and happy at the flowers and the cake and feeling so special that day.

  18. Murphy is just too cute! I wish I could have seen our pooch as a puppy. So adorable.

My 16th was one of my favorites. I was able to celebrate it with my grandmother, we had the same birthdate. I turned 16 and she turned 90! Very special. Bonus was getting my license. πŸ™‚

  19. I am now addicted to chocolate protein powder in iced coffee and it’s all your fault!! It just tastes like a frappachino! When it’s still smoldering hot here in Orlando iced coffee is just glorious in the mornings.

I just die from cuteness when I see my hubbie and our pup snuggling. Murphey and Mal are adorable.

  20. ooohhh cookie friday. i haven’t participated yet, but i might just have to today. we have a loooong ride ahead of us in traffic to go to the shore, and i bet a cookie from sbucks + an iced coffee might make the ride… sweeter.

  21. Murphy is so adorable.
My favorite birthday so far is probably my 30th. Me in a birthday girl tiara dancing in a bar to a punk cover band. O and there was a birthday girl sash as well.

  22. Hi Tina – your oatmeal looked so good that you’ve inspired me to make my own this morning! Regarding your question – my best birthday was a few years ago when my husband invited all of our friends over for a surprise birthday party for me. I should known something was fishy when he cleaned the whole house earlier in the day – ha!

  23. Murphy is so cute! He looks like a little kid that doesn’t want to go to bed!

My best birthday party was when I turned 21. It was about a month late because my birthday is in the summer so my friends wanted to celebrate back at school. We started at a friends apartment and made our way around the town as the night went on. It was so much fun!

  24. Mmm cookie friday! Are you going to do reader pictures again? That was fun…
Best birthday-tea party theme when I was like 7 or so and OBSESSED with my Samantha American Girl doll…. My mom made adorable petit fours for everyone, and I got to wear a pretty dress… (and let’s be honest, I haven’t outgrown loving excuses for a pretty dress)

  25. I wish I could stay in bed like Murphy! How comfortable does he look!?!
I am grateful for all the people in my life now. Some of whom I can’t imagine what my life would be like without them.

  26. Oh my gosh! Murphy is growing so fast! Thank YOU! Cookie Friday is one of the highlights of my week! Every afternoon, my son (17) and I meet at Starbucks for a ‘meet and treat’! It is really great to get to spend this time with him AND have a cookie!

  27. My best birthday ever was 21…. I was in Kenya on a missions trip with my bro and 14 other awesome folks. I went outdoor rock climbing for the first time, overlooking a field of zebra and giraffe, had a surprise dinner with humongous cake, brought out by all the staff doing a traditional African song and dance complete with fire torches and garbage can drums and lots of laughing and singing. It ROCKED!

  28. cake looks great!! The best birthday party I ever had was my 10th birthday.. My mom did a tea party theme and we all took straw hats and decorated them.. Everyone wore there party dresses and we took pictures with our hats and pretended to drink tea!! My mom also hired a lady to come and do all our nails.. IT was soo much fun and one of the best memories of my childhood!

  29. My best birthday party was my 25th- just a month ago! My best friend and roommate completely surprised me by getting friends from all over the country to fly into Chicago for the weekend! It was so amazing that I started crying….but wow, what a great birthday! I felt so lucky to have such a great group of friends πŸ™‚

  30. Each birthday has a different memory that stick out, for good reason. One year my mom decided to attempt to make an icecream cake, to resemble a watermelon. My mom will be the first person to tell you she is very artistically challenged, so it did not resemble anything of the like. HOwever, it did taste absolutely fantastic.

Murphy is adorable, Tina:) Hope you have a nice long weekend!!!

  31. Best birthday party? Probably this last year. I turned 30 and my entire family (including my in-laws) came to town to celebrate. After a chilly stop at the stable (January!) so they could see what I’d been working on with my horse Pixie, we celebrated with sushi and strawberry cake. It was a wonderful day!

Btw, Murphy is so flippin’ cute! Will he get a special treat for Cookie Friday? πŸ™‚

  32. This is so sad but I don’t think I have had a super memorable birthday. I mean, they have been good ones with friends and family. But no serious bashes. I always say I don’t want to do anything big for my birthday (but maybe hidden deep down I would want one big blow out”¦haha).
    Happy Friday!

  33. I am very excited for Cookie Friday – I have already checked out the cookie selection in our cafeteria. I have great memories of the 3 birthday celebrations we had in our house growing up. My sister, grandmother and my birtday were all within a week.

  34. Murphy is just too cute for words!

I may join in on cookie Friday… actually, I made some oatmeal cookie pancakes this morning… that counts, right? πŸ™‚

My most memorable birthday was my first slumber party in 8th grade… we went to a place called Old town in Daytona, FL… did some karaoke, ate good food… then watched scary movies the whole night… it was so much fun.

  35. Sitting here at work on a Friday (AND I work Saturdays too!) I have to let you know what a humongous smile that picture of Mal and Murphy just put on my face :] Absolutely adorable picture. I’d have to say you are a pretty lucky duck yourself, Tina!
