This morning, Julie and I planned to attend a spin class together, but when we arrived at the gym, the class was already full. Bummer! 😕
So, we swapped spinning for a coffee break.
I jumped in Julie’s car and we drove over to the Coffee Break Café for iced coffees and catching up.
I ordered a Jungle Nut iced coffee with soy milk. It was tasty, but nearly as good as Marylou’s!
Julie and I covered all of the usual bases during our conversation– fitness, food, work, blogging, etc. As always, it was so nice to see her!
Lunch
When I got home, I reheated some leftovers from last night’s dinner for lunch. They were tasty, filling, and all that jazz, but I really wanted something sweet like cookies. Typical, right?
So, I baked a batch of Oatmeal Almond Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies. This time, I used creamy peanut butter instead of almond butter. Both nut butters work well, but using a creamy variety is key to soft, moist cookies.
Back to work I go!

Cookies for lunch. Love 🙂
I love it when a workout date turns into a lunch or coffee break instead. Sometimes you just need to be spontaneous!
Does a coffee break burn as many calories as spinning? ha, I’m totally kidding! 🙂 Your breakfast on your last post gave me a new idea. I have never tried bananas on the bread- I’m going to see if I like that. Thanks. Have a great day!!
yummm! your dinner sounds so good. and i’m totally jealous of the flexibility in your schedule. what a nice treat!
Bummer that the class was full but sounds like you got to do something even more fun instead!
Coffee dates are just as much fun as workout dates! I really want to try that cous cous dish too, looks Delish!
What a bummer! Coffee is always a good alternative. I love coffee!
Sorry about spin, but I think you found something better to do!
Coffee break > spinning 🙂
It is always so disappointing when you get to a class and it is full….but a coffee break is always nice.
I love impromptu coffee dates like that. Some times my friends and I have what we call a “coffee run” when we run slowly enough so we could chat just like we were having coffee 🙂
I hate it when fun classes fill up too quickly!
Coffee for spinning- That sounds like a pretty fair trade 😉
Ive never baked with nut butters although it sounds amazing!
Nothing bums me out than a full class, especially when I am jonesing to go! Those cookies are making me want an afternoon snack!
I love all the different iced coffee flavors you try… I wish there were more places in the Boston area that offered yummy flavors like that.
I think I would like the PB variety even more!
You always have the best flavoured iced coffees! The cookies sound delicious too. Have a great afternoon!
Often times a good get-together is all we really need… glad you two got to catch up dispite the gym bummer. Good luck on the workload!
Love the CBC!
That’s the worst about spin classes! But I love nut coffees!
Ugh! I would have been super annoyed! I hate when I’m all geared up to workout and something falls through. That Jungle Nut coffee sounds amazing, though!
That jungle nut coffee sounds sooo yummy! I need an iced coffee right about now 🙂
I have yet to get into a spinning class at the Y I go to… it is insane. You literally have to get there and get a ticket (!?!?!) in the morning before hand. Weird!
I love that turtle plate.
That coffee sounds good! I love soy milk in coffee. Those cookies look great too! It’s been such a long time since I’ve made cookies. I should definitely try your recipe 🙂
Bummer on the spin class, but yay for catching up with a friend! Jungle Nut sounds delicious 😉
Jungle Nut sounds like a creative name.
Guess what! I tried coffee for the very first time today, mainly because your iced coffee has had me craving it for the past few weeks. It wasn’t iced, but it was something. 😛
Oh those cookies look sooo good! Glad you had some time with your friend over coffee…that’s the best 🙂
I still think the day was a success even without the spin class. You got to see a friend, have good coffee and go home to a healthy filling meal!
Now I am craving iced coffee… think it is time for an afternoon “treat”!
YUMMY.. i want cookies!
In college, my best friend and I would often get to the gym, look at each other, and decide to go for coffee or breakfast instead! So fun!
Hey Tina! Just a quick shout out (not sure if it has been mentioned yet) but there is another Healthworks Gym groupon going on (got mine today!) Just wanted to let your readers know in the Boston area!
I love coffee dates with good friends!
mm thsoe cookies look good! I have up peanut butter for lent .. it is SO hard.
bummer about the class being full .. yay for coffee with friend!
I think it’s awesome that you will actually go through the trouble of baking something when you want to fulfill a sweet craving. Me, I typically go for store-bought cookies or chocolate or ice cream. 😀
Mm, I could go for one of those ice coffees right now!! 🙂
I was in SUCH a bad mood today, until I grabbed an iced coffee. That stuff can work miracles, I swear 🙂
oh your cookies always make me hungry 😀
Yes, I have also learned to always sign up for spin beforehand. They tend to fill up so quickly.
Those cookies look amazing. I am jealous.
I so wish I had a plate of cookies to go with my lunch 🙂
Your leftovers always look so great; I think I need to start using mine more! Enjoy your day!
Jungle nut iced coffee? Sounds delicious!
Nothing like coffee and a good friend. 🙂 Sounds like a wonderful afternoon.
I LOVE Marylou’s! I’m always overwhelmed with what flavors to try. I had a hot sugar cookie coffee last time and it was amazing!
its so inspiring that you just whip up cookies like that! I need to treat myself to them more often–it’s cheaper than buying them from the store!
that’s a great tip with the PB – though we are always a crunchy household.
Quick yumy cookies. Very satisfying after lunch!
I hate it when classes are full, but yay for coffee and catching up with Julie. She’s awesome!
