Good morning, friends! 😎
I started my day with more chickpeas! I loved yesterday’s lunch so much, I ate the same thing again this morning– but, this time, I had vanilla Oikos instead of maple yogurt.
On the side, I had a couple of slices of watermelon and a glass of Birthday Cake iced coffee with soy milk. Mmm! 😀
So, this morning, I was thinking about how much I like my job– which is actually tough for me to say out loud. For some reason, I think if I talk about it, I’ll jinx it. You see, I’ve never really had a job that I loved. I’ve had some jobs that I liked a lot (i.e. Starbucks), but the rest have been a mix of good and bad. I mean, it’s work, it’s not supposed to be all fun!
I started working at 15-years-old, scooping ice cream at Colonial Cone, and I’ve had a job ever since– usually, two at time! Here are just some of the jobs I’ve held over the years:
- Ice cream scooper
- Camp counselor
- Barista
- Waitress (multiple restaurants)
- Retail sales (American Eagle)
- Cashier (multiple businesses)
- Chocolatier’s assistant
- Marketing Coordinator (AMP)
- Promotional rep
- Front desk associate (multiple healthclubs)
- Program Assistant (BC)
- Program Coordinator (HSPH)
- Fitness Specialist (Healthworks)
- Executive Assistant (Harvard)
- Blogger
- Freelance writer
- Social media consultant
- Author
Working at American Eagle was easily the worst job that I ever had. It was sooooo boring. Hardly anyone came into the AE store where I worked, so even a short 4-hour shift would practically put me in tears. I was in college at the time, so I had a work study job at the library that helped pay the bills, but my gig at AE provided me with spending money. Even still, I eventually quit AE after just a few months. The job made me absolutely miserable and it just wasn’t worth it– not even for the clothing discount! Plus, the manager was a total creeper. I hated working with him.
Now-a-days, my job doesn’t feel like work at all. I feel very lucky to do what I love. Just as Confucius said, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.” It’s so true.
Question of the Day
What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
