Celebrating 8 Years Together

Mal and I celebrated 8 years of marriage today!

With all of our recent celebrations and travel, we decided to keep things simple this year. We went out to lunch at East Bay Grille, bought each other cards, and it ended up being the perfect anniversary celebration!

Lunch started with drinks!

And then cards.

Mal gave me the sweetest card ever. It’s definitely a keeper!

We talked about getting each other traditional anniversary gifts like last year, but neither of us had any luck with bronze. Although, the menu at East Bay had “Bronzed Grouper” on it, so it worked!

As an appetizer, we shared the bacon-wrapped scallops.

I had the Mixed Berries & Kale Salad with grilled chicken for my entree. I especially loved the cranberry Stilton cheese on it!

Lunch together at East Bay was such a fun way to celebrate 8 years together!

Past anniversary celebrations:

Question of the Day

How long were you together with your significant other before you got married?

Mal and I were together for about 5 years before we tied the knot, which means we’ve been together for nearly 13 years now. Whoa. Haha!

  1. Congrats….My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary today as well! It was our 2nd, but we were together 8 years before we got hitched. Your dinner looked lovely. So glad you had a great day 😉

  2. Happy anniversary! You two seem so happy together, cheers to many more. My husband and I were together for just over a year before we married and we will soon celebrate our seventh anniversary.

  3. Congrats!!

We’ve been married almost 9 years (whoa) and were together for almost 5 before getting married.

After having our daughter, we went the relaxed route on anniversaries too. Looking forward to #10 though for a mama/dada only trip!

  4. Hi Tina! Not to be creepy but I was also at the East Bay Grill yesterday for lunch and saw you guys! Didn’t want to interrupt the anniversary lunch 🙂 hope you enjoyed your meal and the beautiful weather/view! I was with my (now husband) for 6 years before we married in 2014, 2 years in October! We have our fur baby, a French bulldog, and just found out we’re expecting our first child next March!

  5. Happy anniversary!! Looks like you guys had a wonderful day 🙂 My husband and I have been together just over 4 years and our one year wedding anniversary is coming up in October.

  6. Happy anniversary! Hubby and I dated a year and 3 months before getting engaged then were engaged for 13 months before we got married. I can’t believe it’s been almost 10 years for us!

  7. We were together for almost 3 years when Mat proposed, just over 4 years when we got married, and just celebrated out 4 year wedding anniversary. So, we’re on 8 years total now! We’ve known each other since elementary school and had junior high crushes on each other but didn’t start dating until we were 22. Crazy, right?

  8. I love simple anniversary celebrations! Congrats on 8 years! We will be celebrating three years on July 25th and this year is leather, but we just did some big home improvements so we may pass this year on the tradition and just do dinner and drinks (still a treat when you have a toddler!) We were together almost three years before we married. He was the worst though before we were engaged, he use to do fake proposals! Nothing extreme but enough that I would get really upset with him! He must be something special if I kept him around, lol

  9. Happy Anniversary to you and Mal! Something I love about your blog is how highly you speak of Mal as a partner and a father! Shows that people can still be in such love after that beginning ‘honeymoon stage’ <–as they call it…

A sweet and simple anniversary looked perfect 🙂 And you salad looked amazing if I might add!

  10. My husband and I will have been married 16 years in October. We started dating when I was 21. I turn 42 this year so we will have been together for half my life!

  11. Congrats! That looks like a great place! We just celebrated out first anniversary at Bistro 5 in Medford- so delicious holy moly! We got engaged 1 year exactly after our first date, and then got married about 11 months later- so less than 2 years after meeting we were married- still pinching myself! 🙂

  12. Congratulations!! That’s a lot of years together!

My hubby and I just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, and we were together 3 years before that. So, 7 years total! Crazy how time flies!!

  13. My husband and I were together 1.5 years before we got married, but we were friends for 3 years before we started dating so we knew each other quite well! We just celebrated our 10th anniversary this month 🙂

  14. Congrats on 8 years of marriage. We’ve been together for 12 years, but we arenot married. I am in Quebec (Canada) and people rarely get married here anymore. But, I consider my partner my husband even if we never get married.

  15. We were together 2 and a half years before we got married and we will be celebrating 3 years of marriage in August! So we are married for longer than we were dating 🙂

  16. Happy Anniversary!!!! We just celebrated 7 years and this New Years Eve will be 10 years together! Time slow down!

  17. Happy Anniversary!!! My husband and I were together for 6 months before we were married. We will be celebrating 40 years this year…. yes 40 years!!!! Many more to you and Mal…

  18. Happy Anniversary! What a cool and relaxing place to have an anniversary lunch. My husband and I were together for 5 years before we got married…we’ve been married 2 years (it flew by!) and have a 15 month old now.

  19. Happy Anniversary! Your salad looks delish. And what great weather for patio dining.

My husband and I dated for 10 years before we got married – 2nd marriage for both of us. He swore he would never get married again but a heart attack gave him a different perspective on life. We’ve been married for 2 years now. Jetted off to Las Vegas (airline employee, can do that at the last minute) and got married at the top of the Stratosphere – and didn’t tell anyone where we were going and what we were doing! Flew out on Sunday, got married Monday morning, came back on Tuesday, went to work on Wednesday (that’s all the vacation time he had). Great time, great memories.

  20. I was with my husband for 5 years before getting married. We’ve been married for 9 years so together 14! Pretty crazy.

  21. Happy marriages begin when we marry the ones we love, and they blossom when we love the ones we marry. As anniversary gets closer, they laugh at the craziness we experienced on our wedding day. Granted, it was a wonderful day, surrounded by everyone we loved.
You both look fabulous. My friend and her hubby were together for almost 2 years when her hubby proposed her, just over 1 year when they got married, and they just celebrated our 3 year wedding anniversary in Sydney. She had the best Sydney wedding styles on her wedding anniversary which was conducted by with beautiful venue, decor, reception, and on and on. My cousin will also want to celebrate his upcoming wedding anniversary in Sydney so my friend suggested to visit here http://www.georgeandsmee.com/sydney-wedding-styling/ because my cousin want to make his wedding special.
