Celebrating 8 Great Years + THANK YOU GIVEAWAY!!!!!

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

There’s a lot to celebrate today!

It’s National Carrot Cake Day as well as the day that I started Carrot ”˜N’ Cake EIGHT years ago. I guess it was just meant to be!

My life now is so different from the day that I published my very first post…

2/3/2008: I lived with Mal in a small one-bedroom apartment just outside Boston. I worked full-time at the Harvard School of Public Health. I was newly engaged and wanted to shape up for the big day, so I started CNC as a way to document my meals and workouts. (Photo below is from our honeymoon!)

2/3/2016: I live with Mal, Quinn, and Murphy in a house in the suburbs. I’m a stay-at-home and work-at-home mom as I run Carrots ”˜N’ Cake. Everyday, I thank my lucky stars for how wonderful my life has turned out.

Since the beginning of CNC, I got married, adopted Murphy, bought two houses (sold one), quit my full-time job, wrote two books, ran three marathons, met celebrities, attended amazing events, was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, found CrossFit, traveled a whole heck of a lot, got pregnant, and welcomed a beautiful son into our family. Wow, what a ride. And it’s crazy to think it’s all documented on the Internet!

CNC 8 years

For those of you who have followed CNC since the very beginning, THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for reading all these years. Obviously, I couldn’t have done it with you, and I can’t explain how much each of your comments, likes, and emails mean to me. As cheesy as this may sound, many of them have brought me to tears over the years because I know just how much you guys care. I appreciate you all so much and, as way to thank you, my wonderful readers, here’s an awesome giveaway that EIGHT of you will win. That’s right! Eight years = eight winners.

  1. Congrats on 8 years! I really enjoy the grocery haul posts – it usually sparks a dinner idea of my own! It’s hard to say what to change because you tend to vary what topics you post about (which I enjoy). Maybe more quick at-home workouts.

  2. I love all of your recipe posts, and I’d love to see more recommendations for products you love, like your last Trader Joe’s haul!

  3. I’ve enjoyed following your pregnancy/crossfit journey! All of the ads on your site make it difficult to view from the mobile site.

  4. I love when you talk about your life and show us what your days look like. Congrats on 8 years! I’ve been reading since the beginning.

  5. I love your “What I’m Loving” series. I always get great gift ideas from them! I’d like to see more workouts. I like the ones you’ve done, but I’m always looking for new workouts to prevent boredom.

  6. I love your inspirational fitness posts as well as all the photos of your lovely family! I can’t think of anything I’d want to see less of! I also tagged my friend on Instagram to come see! @luvmyminime

  7. I’ve been reading the blog since the beginning and I LOVE “what I’m loving lately”.One thing that I kind of don’t like is that Murphy was bought from a breeder and not adopted from a shelter. He’s great, but it’s dissaponting that a shelter dog was not considered first.

  8. Your What I’m Loving Lately posts are my absolute favorite – I picked up your hiyaluronic acid serum after you posted and I’m loving it! And no need to change anything, you do you.

  9. Congratulations on 8 years!! I especially like your “best of Trader Joes” (or other store)posts, and anything to do with decorating/reno. Keep on keepin’ on!

  10. I love reading your posts about products you like. One thing I would like to see changed is maybe explain how your crossfit schedule works/what some of the moves are. I love seeing your workouts but I never know what all the numbers mean lol.

  11. I really like your quick, easy meals with very accessible ingredients. I would love to see even more workouts that I can do at home.

  12. Congrats on your 8 year anniversary! I love your “day in the life” posts, as well as the eating posts you just started. You’re super inspiring and seeing how you’ve got there thru watching your days is so motivating for me.

  13. Love the Quinn posts and the what I ate posts. Love everything really-except the ads on your site. They make it hard to navigate on my phone

  14. Congrats on 8 yrs. I’ve been following along for probably close to 4 yrs. I love how real you are. You eat whatever “craving” hits you and you arent ashamed to admit what you ate. I also enjoy following along with your posts about your training for half and full marathons.

  15. I like your product recommendations! But honestly love the whole blog. For what I would like to see more of? I guess workouts/products/whatever you want! 🙂

  16. Congratulations! I love hearing all about your everyday adventures. Food you ate, workouts you had, fun things you did with your boy. Not sure I can think of anything you need to change!

  17. I rarely comment but ive been one of your readers since summer 2008 when I was living abroad and read your blog and a few others to supplement TV (we didnt have it in paris). I’m always a fan of workout playlist posts, crossfit posts, real talk posts, and “things im loving lately” posts… hence, why I love this giveaway!

  18. I like reading your posts that are more personal and genuine, about your life. I started reading your blog because the personal posts about health, CF etc made it relatable. Lately, I’ve found your posts more about products and less genuine. I get that this is how you make a living and kudos to you, but would still love to see more of the old carrots n cake type stuff. Also, as others said-reading your blog on the phone has become so irksome with all the ads, that I don’t visit as often.

  19. My favorite thing on the CNC blog is the day-in-the-life posts. Please keep those up! One area to improve – can’t really think of one but I would love to see more printables or workouts for beginners or for those that don’t have a lot of time or equipment.

  20. Congratulations on your 8 years! I really enjoy your posts about your day, recipes, groceries, ‘What I’m Loving Lately’…
I can’t even remember when I first started following your blog, or how I found it!

  21. Congrats! I love following your training for various races. I’d love to see some of your weight training programs geared towards runners.

  22. Congrats on 8 years!! Love “my favorite things”. As for what I’d less of, I’m not a cross fit-er so less of that. Though likely in the minority there!

  23. I love all of your amazing easy recipes! I’ve tried so many of them and love how quick most of them are (and not a ton of wacky ingredients).

  24. I love how your blog is not just one thing, but a bunch of things. I never get bored reading! I can’t off the top of my head think of anything that I would want you to write less about!

  25. Congratulations on 8 years! That’s awesome!! I love the “What I’m Loving Lately” posts. There isn’t really anything I wish you wrote less about. I like that you have a variety of posts and topics that you talk about.

  26. Love CNC. It’s one of the blogs I look at most often because of your relatable tone, reasonable and balanced approach to food, and your CUTIE PATOOTIE Quinn. Am loving his latest cheese obsession. I love your recipes and would love to see more of them. I also particularly love seeing your day in food. I’m trying to lose weight and I just really admire how balanced yet healthy you are, as well as your journey from overweight to fitness bamf.

  27. Congrats on eight years! I love your “day in the life” posts! So great to see how you fit everything in. I would love more of your “what I ate” posts…so many great ideas there!

  28. Woohoo, 8 years! Congratulations! I love the “realness” of your blog- how you include us in your UC story and parenting. What I’d change? Hmmm. Maybe more how-to’s: creating a home gym, living in the snow (I recently relocated to a snowy state from a non-snowy state), traveling with a toddler, getting a toddler to eat, and so on. 🙂

  29. Congrats! Love the eating and recipes posts! I’d love to see more exercises or routines geared toward beginners. Where to start??

  30. Congrats on 8 years! I’ve been following along for the past 3 or 4 when I started my journey towards a healthier lifestyle 🙂 There really isn’t anything I would change. I love how open and honest you are on your blog. I love the “Life via iPhone” posts and any posts revolving around recipes and workouts. The Deconstructed Shepard’s Pie is part of the hubby and I’s regular meal rotation around here – we love it!

  31. I actually found your blog through reading your book! I loved the book and love the blog even more. I appreciate your realistic approach to fitness, diet, and life in general!

  32. I love your day in the life posts and how you keep it real with being a working mom while trying to stay fit and healthy. I’m not a runner so the running focused posts are not my fave but certainly don’t turn me off. I wouldn’t really change much! Keep on girl!

  33. Love your blog Tina! My favorites are seeing your daily eats and grocery hails. My least favorite are the crossfit WODs, but that’s probably just because I don’t do crossfit. Keep up the awesome work!!

  34. Congrats on 8 years Tina!! My favorite things on CnC are weekend recaps/days in the life/race recaps….anything kind of showing what’s going on in your life! I also really like when you share tips on traveling/going out to eat with a toddler. The only thing I don’t use too much are some of the workouts, just because I don’t have much equipment at home….but I totally understand that those posts are useful for others.

  35. Congrats on 8 years!! Have been reading your blog for a long time now 🙂 I love your day in the life posts! And grocery store hauls are helpful for meal inspiration!

  36. Congratulations on 8 years!! I love your Day In The Life posts and would love to see more What I Ate posts. You do a great job of posting about a variety of things that keeps me coming back each day!

  37. Yay 8 years! I love your recipes, and I followed your postpartum workout on the blog when I was postpartum myself. =)

  38. I’ve always been a fan of how you keep it real. You seem like the average joe and I really like how I can relate to you 🙂

More recipes and meal planning ideas. Especially since you eat a primary vegetarian diet now.

  39. I’ve been reading since the beginning and love your blog so much! I love that you share so many great health and fitness tips but also tell us about your life & family. Happy 8 years!

  40. Love watching little Quinn grow and reading about your escapades around Boston!
Especially love the healthy treat recipes you post 🙂
