Hey there!

Ahhh, this is so cool!!

Remember when I mentioned my special recipe project with Whole Foods? Well, here’s my recipe debut: Brussels Sprout and Chicken Pizza with Parmigiano Reggiano!

Pizza3 (533x800)

I should have known it would be a pizza recipe! I <3 pizza.

Whole Foods compensated me for my participation and recipe development with a $50 gift card to their store.

Mal and I combined forces to make last night’s dinner. On the menu: American Chop Suey and really, really, really delicious Garlic-Lemon Roasted Brussels Sprouts. Roasted garlic + tangy lemon + stinky cheese = holy yum.

  2. Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well.
  3. Pour Brussels sprouts on a baking sheet and roast for 30- 35 minutes, until crisp on the outside and tender on the inside.

  5. Eat and enjoy!

After dinner, Mal and I made hot cocoa with soy milk and watched Drive, another movie with Ryan Gosling in it. Apparently, we’re big fans of his lately.

I enjoyed the first half of the movie, but then it became a disgusting, violent blood bath, so I stopped watching and read a magazine. Murphy couldn’t believe what he was watching! Eww! (Isn’t it funny when dogs watch TV? Murphy loses it and barks/growls when he sees dogs on the television.)

Even still, I enjoyed cuddling on the couch with my two favorite guys.

  1. I completely agree regarding Drive. It is like Quentin Tarantino took over directing in the second half with its unnecessary gore.

  2. That pizza looks SOOO good! I probably wouldn’t have said that 4 months ago before I discovered brussels sprouts but now I’m obsessed so any excuse to use them! 🙂

Thanks for the heads up on Drive. I’ve been debating it and hate gory films for gore’s sake so I’ll skip it.

  3. our dogs are SO funny when they watch tv. the voice is our puppy’s favorite… she loves the performances!

our crossfit coach told us this morning to be prepared for the filthy fifty tomorrow… AHHH! never done it before… so scared!

  4. That pizza looks awesome!!!

I had the same issue with “Drive”…first half was okay, and I thought I could power through considering Ryan Gosling’s hotness, but I ended up having to leave the room. Way too violent for me. Huge bummer.

  5. My parents’ dog watches TV like a human, it’s the funniest thing ever. They had the dog show on last week and she sat down right in front of the TV following the dogs back and forth as they trotted up and down. Hysterical. I’m pretty sure our dog on the other hand, has no idea what the TV even is.

  6. Strange, I watched Drive last night as well! Except I watched mine while stuff in Virginia in the middle of a snow storm and traffic jam. We had no choice but to enjoy it and complete the movie – blood baths and all!

  7. My dog will sit in front of the TV and just stare. She also sometimes barks and growls at the dogs on TV. Once she sat and watched TV for half an hour without moving.

  8. I agree 100% about Drive! It was not ehat I expected it to be. I thought I was going to be.sick to my stomach a couple times. My dog Georgie goes crazy when there are other dogs on TV. It’s cute watching her. Especially when the Stars Wars Dogs VW commercial comes on.

  9. That pizza looks awesome!

I was planning on making roasted bruseel sprouts tonight with dinner so I think I’ll use your recipe 🙂

My bf’s family has pugs and they also go crazy whenever they see dogs on TV. It’s really hiliarious.

  10. I can’t wait to try that pizza! I just picked up some Brussels yesterday and I have some homemade whole wheat pizza dough sitting in the freezer. Yum!

  11. My dog barks at the TV too! But only when there are other animals, even cartoon animals. There are certain commercials that when he hears the opening music he gets all riled up cause he knows there is an animal in it. Sometimes he confuses animals with small children and barks at them! Such a wierdo!

  12. I always use to check the rating of the movie. I never watch movies that are Rated R for strong bloody violence, which was the case with the movie Drive. I don’t like those kinds of movies either!! It has saved me from watching a bunch of movies with scenes I’d rather not see!

  13. Agree on Drive. Unfortunately when the blood bath started our 2 year old granddaughter was in the room. She immediately grimaced and said “mess” and tried to clean it off the TV with a feather boa.

We watched “Warrior” next and would highly recommend.

  14. I’m in love with Murphy and all the stories about him. I recently adopted a pug-mix and I totally understand what makes the breed so charming (and goofy, definitely goofy!)

  15. I’m new to your blog and wanted to begin by saying I’m enjoying it very much. I agree with you about drive, Brussels sprouts are awesome, and my dog cooper does the exact same thing as Murphy when he sees a dog on TV.

  16. I watched TWO Ryan Gosling movies this weekend! Ides of March and Crazy, Stupid, Love. Ides of March was decent (mostly because of RG & George Clooney) but omg I was obsessed with Crazy, Stupid, Love. Adorable, cute, and very funny!
