Ooh, boy, do I have a cool, new product to tell you guys about. I was recently sent a pair of BlueBud X Bluetooth Headphones to review and they are, simply put, awesome.
New gadgets typically hate me, so I was psyched that the BlueBuds were so easy to set up. I listen to Pandora on my iPhone when I workout or take Murphy for walks, so I was pleasantly surprised that connecting the BlueBuds to the Bluetooth on my phone was such a piece of cake. On my iPhone, all I had to do was turn on the Bluetooth (in Settings) and then press a button on the headphones to connect. A small light on each of the earbuds flashed to let me know that things were working properly and it was trying to connect. (The lights on the earbuds also let you know know whether they are powered on or off and whether they need charging.) It only took about 3 seconds before I heard David Guetta blaring in my ears. I was so excited that I got the headphone to work with only one try, I started to dance around the dining room like a total goober!
I took the BlueBuds out for a test run on Saturday afternoon and immediately fell in love with them. Running “wireless” and listening to Pandora play on my iPhone inside of my FlipBelt was wicked cool. I kept thinking to myself: “Look ma, no hands, er, wires!” as I ran along. Haha! And the sound playing in my ears was excellent””crisp and clear, and the headphones didn’t cut out or disconnect at all during my run.
Prior to my test run, I was a little worried whether the BlueBuds would stay in my ears. The earbuds are kind of heavy””well, heavier than the iPhone headphones that I usually wear. I think the weight is probably on par with a nice, quality pair of headphones. Anyway, since we all have different size ears, the BlueBuds came with 3 different sizes of eartips and “ear cushions,” which worked really well. I was actually kind of surprised just how well they helped the earbuds stay put. I needed to try a few different combos (eartip + ear cushion) before I found the right fit, but once I did, the BlueBuds weren’t going anywhere!
FYI: I haven’t wore the BlueBuds to CrossFit””only because I don’t normally workout with headphones there””but the BlueBuds website has a great “CrossFit test” video on the main page, which shows a couple of CrossFitters working out in them and the earbuds totally stayed put during double-unders and box jumps.
Having a snug fit in my ears made my music sound really great!
A wire connects both of the earbuds, which you can wear in front of your body below your chin, behind you on your neck, or up over your ears for an even more secure fit. I found wearing them in back behind my head to be the most comfortable fit for me.
The BlueBuds come with a couple of “cord managers,” which shorten the wire so you don’t have a bunch of slack getting in the the way or bouncing around while you exercise.
I also really liked the hard case that the BlueBuds came in. My headphones are always tangled, so I really like that I have a place to keep my BlueBuds nice and neat.
The case also has a space to hold the eartips and cushions as well as a USB cable for charging, so you don’t lose any of the accessories.

Biggest headphone annoyance – wires and sound quality!!
Cordless ear buds that actually stay in in place during a good workout without cutting out due to sweat? No accidental ripping of the ear (OUCH) when cords get trapped with arm swinging? That coupled with awesome sound that makes you dance around the dining room!!! Oh god, sounds like a little slice of heaven. I have my eyes closed praying and fingers crossed that these buds are the answer…
I hate it when sweat accumulates between my headphones and ear canal. It then makes the music hard to hear.
My biggest headphone annoyance would be a sticky cord clinging to my sweaty body…yuck. Cordless all the way baby! Thanks for the great review, they look cool.
Definitely having all the wires constantly looped through clothes and tangled is my biggest annoyance!!!
Biggest annoyance? Simply ALL the pairs of headphones that just broke at the connector! I’ve broke at lease 15 pairs ! A connectorless pair would be heaven!

I tweeted!!!!
Hope its not to late. My biggest annoyance is the ear fatigue from regular buds and the hollow sound from running with normal in ear ones.. although that just might be my cheapy pair 🙂
I hate having the wires hanging down when I run and always getting when put away. I think these bluebuds sound lie the greatest idea.
It’s gotta be buds that won’t stay put!
Hate how the wires bounce right in front of your face when you’re running.
I hate snagging the wires with my hands as I run. Hate that.
My greatest annoyance has to be cables, or where desired Bluetooth headphones are generally somewhat bulky. These look absolutely perfect for meeting my criteria!
On a side note, Tina, I noticed from the picture of your ear with the bud that it seems to be rotated away from the root of your helix. May I recommend you try them with the tip of the ear cushion pushed into the root your helix as comfortably as possible. It should facilitate a sturdier hold in your ear, and increase sound clarity from the BlueBuds.
Cheers!
I hate how the strings get all tangled up and bounce around m neck. It annoys the heck out of me.
These would be perfect for running.
Falling out when running or working out.
I can’t seem to find headphones that actually say in my ear!!!
@slowlanerun tweeted! Hope I win!
Biggest headphone annoyance: my arms getting tangled in the wires while running. Hate it!
i hate when they pop out of my ear 🙁

Biggest headphone annoyance has been finding a pair tha allows for me to sweat in them. I can’t count how many pairs of headphones have either shorted out or just stopped working because of my intense regiment.
Wires are the biggest annoyance.
biggest annoyance is sound quality for me
The most frustrating thing about wired headphone is the constant need to adjust and accidently yanking it out of the iphone or ipod port.
I don’t like when the headphones pull out or lose connection when I move.
My biggest headphone annoyance is definitely when I accidentally catch on to the cord while working out and pulling them out of my ears. This pair sounds perfect!
I tweeted the statement!
I have tiny ears so finding head phones that fit is a huge pain! These look SO much better than the iPhone ones!
I hate how they are hard to stay in your ears. Sounds like these wont have that problem!
My thumb always snags the cord while I am running! These would be awesome!
I hate when I’m on a treadmill or elliptical, pumping my arms (or “treadmill dancing”, I totally do that!) and my hand hits the cable and my iPod which is set on the machine tumbles to the floor. So embarrassing!
biggest annoyance is when they fall out when i’m running and i have to keep putting them back in!
biggest headphone annoyance = they ALWAYS fall out of my ears!
Great review! Having looked at the BlueBud X website I’m pretty much convinced these are the best of the best for outdoor Bluetooth in-ear headphones! A few questions though… 🙂
– Can you sync more than one device to the headset (e.g. Android mobile phone and Windows 8 laptop?)
– I used to own a pair of Bluetooth over-ear headphones and could hear a very slight ”˜humm’, this was a few years ago”¦ any sign with the BlueBud X?
– How long were your training sessions (jogging, spinning, CrossFit), worth charging the headphones each day/week before use?
My biggest headphone annoyance has the be the cord smacking me in the face or getting caught in my hand while I am running!!!!
These sound awesome. I hate it when I’m working out or running and I catch the cord and the headphone rips out of my ear. I get so annoyed!
When they fall out during a run! Would love to try these!
Biggest annoyance: they fall out. I wear headphones with the ear hooks to keep them on – or I wear a Bondiband to keep them from falling out.
These would be AMAZING for running.
Can’t stand when my earbuds fall out right when I’m hitting my stride on a run. I usually have my dog with me, which makes juggling her leash even more fun.
Great blog!

Low volume!!
Would love to win these. I have given up on headphones because the earbuds ALWAYS pop out. I’ve never seen the little wing on the side to keep them in!
When they fall out (all the time…)
I hate hitting the wires with my hand and jerking the earpiece out of my ear just when I’m getting into a good rhythm.
A paperless living might be utopia, but wireless tech gadgets aren’t. I want to concentrate on my workout instead where to place my smartphone (pocket, backpack, arm…).
I hate it when in-ear headphones don’t fit my ears!
I have small ears and most ear buds feel way to big for me and become painful after a short time. I hope the different sizes on these would help!
I have two annoyances! One is when the earbud falls out of my ear and the other, probably worse, is when my hand catches on the cord hanging down and snatches the earbud out of my ear!!!
Definitely the wires! Drives me crazy!
