Last night, I attended a Blogger Bash hosted by BostonFoodBloggers.com at M.J. O’Connor’s in downtown Boston.
BostonFoodBloggers.com is a “resource for food and drink bloggers in and around Boston.” Their site features local events as well as more than 400 foodie blogs.
Blogger Bash invite from BostonFoodBloggers.com:
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a really big blogger bash, n’est-ce pas? Well, hold on to your hats – our friends at M.J. O’Connor’s would like to invite 100 bloggers for some spectacular food, drinks, and gifts!
There was quite a turn out for the event. I arrived only a couple of minutes late to it, and M.J. O’Connor’s was already packed with bloggers!
At the event, the bar offered a bunch of specialty drinks, but I opted for a pumpkin beer (obviously).
I enjoyed a Saranac Pumpkin Ale with a sugar rim. Ooh, yes, it was delicious.
I was psyched to see that M.J. O’Connor’s had Saranac Pumpkin on draft. It was my first time trying it, and I liked it a lot. (FYI: I have a pumpkin beer post in the works with all of my reviews. Hopefully, I’ll finish it today!)
A bunch of passed appetizers were also served at the event: pulled pork sliders, shrimp cocktail, Arancini (fried rice balls), chicken teriyaki skewers, and pizza with mushrooms and mashed potatoes.
I pretty much tried one (or two) of each. The appetizers were your typical bar food””greasy and fried, but still delicious.
The pizza, in particular, was especially awesome. I mean, mashed potatoes on pizza? Yes, please! I also loved the extra sharp cheese on it. Man, I love cheese so much.
The event also included a great raffle to benefit Friends of Boston’s Homeless. I bought a bunch of tickets, but I didn’t win anything (because Ali‘s friend, Lisa, won everything).
Blog friends: Bridget, Elizabeth, Ali, and Melissa!
It was so nice to see these ladies (as well as other blog friends). I also enjoyed meeting some new blog friends last night.
Each blogger left the event with a goodie bag. Inside were gift cards to M.J. O’Connor’s and other restaurants in the Briar Group. Sa-weet! What a perfect gift for Boston-area food bloggers.
Thanks for a fun event, BostonFoodBloggers.com and M.J. O’Connor’s!

Looks like a fun night! I wish the food blogger community was as big here as it is in Boston. I’m interested to see your beer post – I’m not a beer drinker at all but I do consider pumpkin a food group so if I’m ever going to try beer again, it’ll be a pumpkin one!
Looks like a great time! And yes, mashed potatoes + cheese on a pizza….sounds like the perfect thing to go with cocktails or beer.
Congrats, too Tina, on your Foodbuzz nomination!! 🙂
Pizzeria Uno has an appetizer on their menu that is their deep dish pizza crust filled with mashed potatoes, cheese, & bacon. I am both ashamed & proud to say I tried it & loved it! Mashed potatoes & pizza are two of my favorite foods! 🙂
I wish we had ANY kind of blogger community in my town but its more of a football town than anything….cant wait to move once I’m done with college!
WOW. That does look super fun! And what a huge blogger community–that is awesome 🙂
I’m going to my first blogger meet-up next Sunday, sponsored by Dove. It’s not just for food/healthy living bloggers but I am excited to finally meet up with people who know what it’s like to be a blogger!
Enjoy! Blogger events are a lot of fun! 🙂
If I got given a pizza with mashed potatoes on it, I’d think I’d died and gone to Heaven. Couldn’t get a more perfect pizza in my opinion!! 🙂
Sounds like a fun night! I’m looking forward to seeing your pumpkin beer reviews! I never know how to choose one.
Looks like a fab night! Mashed potatos on pizza? Yes pleasee 😀
How fun!! Mashed potatoes as a pizza topping – genius! I never even thought of doing something like that…very unique but very yummy sounding!
looks like a great night!! go bloggers!!!
The mashed potato pizza was definitely my favorite. Granted, technically, it is two meals just piled on top of each other. But that’s OK with me! It was great to see you!
What an awesome outing!! I need to see if DC has such a group… if not, they should 🙂
Why have I never had a sugar-rimmed glass for my pumpkin beers? Who am I??
I’ve never heard of mashed potatoes on pizza before! I can’t imagine how good that would be (but also extremely filling)!
Just got some Saranac Pumkin the other night! Glad to hear its good. Can’t wait to try one. Hope NYCM training is going well!
The food looks delicious! I don’t know what I think about mashed potatoes as a pizza topping! Very strange!
I LOVE goodie bags! I miss going to birthday parties with the mandatory goodie bag!
I lived in New Haven, CT for a couple years right out of college and they are obsessed with mashed potato + bacon pizza. It’s good, but there’s onl so much of it you eat.
Looks like a very fun night!
Fun!! PS If you end up doing a blog post about pumpkin beer, can you please do a follow-up blog post about all your favorite pumpkin-y items? FYI, Trader Joe’s has this pumpkin bread mix that is to. die. for. Just saying 🙂
i love all of these boston blogger events!! you are so lucky to have such a great group of women gather for these events.
i’m way disappointed that I have yet to find a bar in D.C. that has sugar-rimmed glasses for pumpkin beer! It’s on my to-do list now.. as well as to get some more D.C. blogger get togethers going!
YES! Find the sugar rim!! You won’t be disappointed!
It was such a fun night! Towards the end I went to say ‘HI!’ to you but you had already left!
I really loved meeting more fellow Boston bloggers! It really made me feel more a part of the community 🙂 Hope to see you next time!
Bummer! I’m sad that I missed you. Hopefully, there is another blogger event soon!
Looks like so much fun – and now I really want a slider burger (it’s 9am…that’s okay right?) 😉
@Cait’s Plate: PS – my boyfriend is obsessed with Murphy and I sent him the latest fireplace post and he was literally laughing out loud while reading it. Haha. I’m telling you – Murphy could have a significant following with his own blog!!
@Cait’s Plate: LOL! I love that people love Murphy so much! He’s the love of my life. I mean, my husband is! 😉
@Tina: Haha – “Murphy,” “Mal” – they’re basically right next to each other on the keyboard, OBVIOUSLY you meant Mal 😉
And yes – we’re big fans of Murphy in our household…he’s stolen our hearts as well so you’re definitely not alone 🙂
wow that looks really fun!!! I know how much I enjoyed meeting everyone at HLS so I wish there were more things in my area for local bloggers. im glad you had such a nice evening!
Looks like such a fun event! I think I need to move to Boston!
It was great to catch up with you last night! That beer was awesome. Would never have ordered it if it weren’t for you but I’m a big fan now. The sugar rim was totally genius too!
I know, right!? I swear the sugar rim just makes the beer taste so much better. It was so nice to see you! We need to get together again SOON!
that looks like SUCH a blast! I would love to attend a function like that someday. Too bad the Atlanta blogging scene isn’t a well known one.
Looks like a blast! Can’t wait to see the pumpkin beer post, pumpkin beer is my favorite 🙂
Pizza! I’d eat pizza every day if my waistline would allow.
Have you tried the Wachusett Pumpkin? It tastes like Pumpkin Pie! They have an awesome Fall beer flight at Sunset Tap right now…every Boston beer lover needs to go there at least (at least!!!) one time in their life!
I haven’t had it since last year, but I need to change that. I love the spicy pumpkin beers the best! 🙂
That Fool’s Gold drink sounds awesome and I love pizza with mashed potatoes on it (I’ve had a loaded baked potato deep dish pizza that had mashed potatoes, cheese & bacon on it, topped with sour cream)! The party looks like it was a great night out with blogger friends new & old 😉
How fun! What a huge turnout! I attend a smaller blog meetup on a bi monthly basis. But we only have up to 15 at the most. I think because So. Cal. is so spread out. Way cool.
that does look like a great night! There used to be a pizza place in my hometown that would make mashed potato and feta pizza and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing.
That sounds like a lot of fun and great food! Chicago should have some of these!
you made Boston.com tina.
Have you tried the Wasatch Pumpkin Beer? One of my favorites! It has a more prominent pumpkin taste that I love!
I haven’t, but I will keep a look out for it now! 🙂
mashed potatoes on pizza. YES!!!!
this looks like a great time! i’m excited to meet some boston bloggers in the near future!
Hi Tina-
I’m a reader and just wanted to let you know you’re in Bill Brett’s photos in the Boston Globe listed incorrectly, so you probably want to reach out to them.

@lauren:
I was just going to comment on this too. I thought maybe the “Yogurt and Berries” was a joke or a second blog I never knew Tina had!
LOL! It’s my secret blog! 🙂
Looks like so much fun! I have been curious on how your hip is feeling and how your training is going?
Check my most recent post. It’s good news! 🙂
Throw mashed potatoes on anything, and there’s a good chance it will be delicious. Time to start counting down to Thanksgiving!
LOVE your top Tina! Might you reveal where you found it? Thanks!
It’s either from Marshalls or TJMaxx.
Those sliders and the pizza looks so good! Mashed potatoes on pizza? Genius!
Very cool event.
I was both excited AND horrified and I won THREE of those raffles. I get way too embarassed walking up in front of large groups of people so I don’t usually even buy raffle tickets out of fear of acutally winning something. Guess I should try my luck with some scratch tickets tonight 🙂 It was great to hang out with all you girls!
LOL! You were en fuego last night! Please buy a scratch ticket today! 🙂
I never knew that boston food blogger website existed, pretty cool! I have plans to move back to the Boston area next year, so hopefully one day I can attend something like this. It looks like a blast meeting people in person!
@katie @ KatieDid: It was so much fun Katie! Be sure to join when you move back! 🙂
You should definitely register your blog when you move here!
Hi Tina! I LOVE pumpkin beer! I’m looking forward to the post 🙂 Can you also include, if you know, where you can find pumpkin beer on draft (especially shipyard pumpkin) with a cinnamon sugar rim? That rim makes it that much more amazing! I am looking forward to trying Saranac sometime soon.
Goody bags are always fun..almost as much as as hanging out with a bunch of friends! 🙂
Looks like a fun event!!
You always have such fun things to do!!! I live in ho-bunk NJ so no fun blogger get-together’s here!

1st, congrats on your Foodbuzz nomination!
2nd, mashed potatoes on pizza?! Sign me up!!!
Thank you! 🙂
OoooO what a fun time, Tina! A bash like this would surely rock my socks off. Wah! There’s an LA blogger picnic this saturday which I can’t attend, and now this post is making me really want to go even more. Next time! 😛 Have a great day~
