Holy crap – where the heck did this year go?! I seriously cannot believe that I am 38 years old today! I am definitely not one of those people that mourns turning another year older, but, let’s be honest, things just aren’t the same when you hit your late 30’s! 😉 Instead, I embrace the opportunity to celebrate another wonderful year in my life with all its highs and lows.

In honor of turning 38 today, I thought it be fun to take a few moments to reflect on the past year, and share with you a few highlights that I consider to be blessings and opportunities. So, let’s get to reflecting!

Our family enjoyed some truly epic vacations

What a year of awesome travel for us! We went on so many great adventures, including Stowe Mountain Lodge, NewportGilbert, Arizona, Moose Lake Ranch, Basin Harbor Club, and back to Stowe, Vermont just recently. Hopefully, 38 brings even more travel for us!

I celebrated nine (!!) years of marriage with Mal

Mal and I have actually been friends for 20 years and together for 16 – jeez, that’s a long time! I can truly say through all the ups and downs, no one has supported me like Mal has. Marriage does live up to its reputation that it’s sometimes work, but it’s also been a total blast! I couldn’t be happier to have spent almost ten years (next month!!) married to my best friend, and I can’t wait to see what the next ten and beyond hold for us!

I went to Israel – the farthest I’ve ever traveled from home!

I had the awesome opportunity to visit Israel and be a part of the super fun Tel Aviv Night Run with Vibe Israel – and it was hands-down one of my favorite trips ever! I learned so much about Israeli culture and took in the sites of Jerusalem with awe. Not to mention, the food was phenomenal!! I’m so incredibly grateful that I got to have the experience of a lifetime, and I can’t wait to go back!

I launched my own leggings with Four Athletics!

When Four Athletics reached out to see if I wanted to design my own pair of leggings, to say I was excited would be an understatement – freaking thrilled is more accurate! As an avid legging-wearer (hey, they’re pants, too!), I had a whole host of design ideas that were on legging “wishlist,” and I am so lucky to have had the opportunity to see them come to life on my very own pair. Not to mention, Four Athletics is such a cool company (all of their products are created based on crowdsourcing) that makes the most kickass apparel, so designing a pair of leggings with them felt like a dream come true! Definitely one for the books!

I kicked my anxiety to the curb while finding a way to eat mindfully and enjoy life!

It’s no secret around here that I have struggled majorly with anxiety and stress, and this past year was a doozy. I’m happy to report that I am in a MUCH better place – and through self-help, balancing my hormones, and working with a therapist, I’ve managed to completely overhaul my thought process. I still have rough days (don’t we all), but now I’m equipped with my “anxiety toolbox,” so that when those feelings hit, I know how to nip them in the bud. On the same note, I’ve adopted a balanced way of eating by following the 80/20 rule (for the most part),and enjoy my carrots and cake too! Gone are the days of rigid adherence to strict diet plans – that way of eating does not work for me, and I can finally say I’ve found a way that does! Speaking of which…

I launched CNC Macro Plans!

After my experience with DTFN and NHS, I’ve made a strategic business and life decision to launch a brand new nutrition offering: Carrots ‘N’ Cake Macro Plans! It’s only been “live” for a couple of weeks, but I’m loving the experience and working with CNC readers as clients! 🙂

And last but not least…

I celebrated another important birthday – CNC is ten years old!

I started CNC as a hobby blog 10 years ago (coincidentally on National Carrot Cake Day!) and as a way to hold myself accountable while getting in shape for my wedding. Never would I have dreamed that this little corner of the Internet would become what it is today – and it’s all thanks to you! I can’t even begin to explain how much each of your comments, questions, messages, likes, and emails mean to me. I look forward to reading them every single day. Thank you for following along with one of my life’s greatest adventures and supporting me throughout the years! I couldn’t have done it without you guys!

And, on that note, I’m saying “sayonara” to 37 and a big HELLO to 38! Cheers to the year ahead!
