Happy Thanksgiving!!!
I hope you have a special day ahead of you, filled with family, friends, thanks, and giving, and, of course, plenty of delicious food!
And when the holiday is over and you have a refrigerator full of leftovers, I hope you try this recipe for the best-ever Thanksgiving turkey sandwich!
It was definitely a winner in our house after our recent Friendsgiving celebration. Mal could not stop raving about it, especially how tasty the bread was!
This sandwich is the best-ever because it allows you relive Turkey Day with its classic flavors (turkey and cranberry sauce), but takes it up a notch by adding tangy cheddar cheese and sweet Granny Smith apple on Dave’s Organic 21 Whole Grains and Seeds Bread, which is hearty, subtly sweet, and the perfect size for a serious sandwich like one.
Ingredients:
- 2 slices of Dave’s Killer Bread Organic 21 Whole Grains and Seeds
- 1 slice extra sharp cheddar cheese
- 2-3 slices of Granny Smith apple
- leftover Thanksgiving turkey
- 1.5 tablespoons cranberry sauce
- 1/2 tablespoon mayonnaise
Directions:
Combine cranberry sauce and mayo in a small bowl. (I actually doubled these ingredients to make extra for later, so I mixed them in a small Ziploc container to store in the fridge.)
Spread cranberry-mayo on one of the slices of Dave’s Killer Bread.
Then, layer the other ingredients on top before popping the whole sandwich in the toaster oven. Heat until cheese is melted and the bread is lightly browned.
Enjoy immediately!
Recipe makes 1 sandwich.

Yum! I actually like the leftovers more than the actual Thanksgiving meal!
Thanksgiving leftovers are the best !! Especially if you’re hosting , you Lee so nervous about everything being all set that you can’t fully enjoy the beauty of thanksgiving food perfection , so next day leftovers are all the more satisfying !! I never thought to put apple in there ! Yum 🙂

Toasted sandwiches are the best! This looks so delicious.
I do love that bread! It is so delicious. Happy Thanksgiving 🙂
Yum, your sandwich looks fantastic! I have a huge container of leftover cranberry sauce waiting for this…
Yum! Where can I find that bread????
Costco sells it and you can buy it online. There’s also a store locator on the DKB website!
Oh man, those looks so good!!
This sandwich looks really good. I am a vegetarian but I think the sandwich would still work without the turkey – at least I am going to give it a try without the turkey and see how it turns out 🙂
OMG yum! This looks so good that it’s making me want it for breakfast haha!
Have you been to the deli by the water in Burlington VT? They have the exact dame sandwich (except on white bread) – it’s the best!
I haven’t been there, but this sandwich was inspired by the Red Onion!
that. looks. AMAZING
Oh yum! I look forward to the Thanksgiving leftovers more than the actual dinner. So much work and everybody inhales it so fast, it’s nice to be able to relax and enjoy the food the next day!
