Good morning and happy Monday!

Remember my post about my crazy-busy fall? Well, it starts today!

packing for back-to-back trips

This morning, I’m off to the Hamptons where I’ll stay until Wednesday afternoon and then I’ll head to Woonsocket, Rhode Island for a two-day event until Friday afternoon. Ooooh boy, back-to-back trips!

I didn’t realize this until I was planning my travel, but there’s no easy way to get from Boston to the Hamptons. I considered all sorts of travel options, but, I eventually decided on driving to New London, taking a ferry (fun!) to Orient Point, and then driving the rest of the way to the Hamptons. (Thanks for the suggestion, Marisa!)

On the way home, I’ll take the ferry back and then drive right to Woonsocket. It sounds pretty straightforward right now, so, hopefully, everything goes as planned!

As for my weekend, it was a lot of fun. Mal and I spent Friday night catching up with Elizabeth and Nick and getting a tour of their new condo in Southie.

Saturday, I ran 9 miles, went to the GymNASTY seminar, and then went out to dinner at Assembly in Quincy with Mal, Kerrie, and her boyfriend, Matt.

My first order of business at Assembly was sangria. Ever since my sangria experience at The Inn at Bay Pointe, I’ve been obsessed with red sangria. I’ve always liked it, but white sangria was more my thing. Now, I just can’t get enough of the red variety. There’s something about all of those wonderful flavors and spices that can’t be beat.

After dinner, we headed to the Stadium for the (80’s-themed) 2-year CrossFit 781 anniversary party!

Good times!

I love the people at 781 so much.

And, of course, no blog post is complete without some pug photos!

Monica sent Murphy a bananagram last week, and it was love at first sight.

When I showed the stuffed banana to him, he immediately snatched it from my hand and ran off with it. Check out that huge pug talon! He was SO excited.

Murphy has been obsessed with it ever since! Thanks, Auntie Monica!

How was your weekend?

Red or white sangria?

Do you have a good sangria recipe to share? (I want to make sangria at home, so I can sit on the couch and drink it.)

P.S. I’ll announce the winner of the Rank & Style giveaway (overnight + gym bag) later today. I’m still waiting to hear who was selected. Thanks for your patience!

  1. You are one busy lady! I’m sure it’ll all be so much fun though!

Our weekend was in awesome in every way. Lots of fun, productivity, and rest = perfect weekend.

White sangria fo sho. I mean, let’s be real, I would never deny red sangria, but white is my fave.

  2. Congrats to the Wayfair rug winner. I loved it so much, I have the URL bookmarked to buy my own on payday! 😉

I love any sangria. I used to only like white as well, but I love the red now, too!

My weekend was busy but fun (those are the best, aren’t they?) I ran 18 miles with a friend on Saturday morning, helped my mom with some painting at her house, and then went to a BBQ. Then on Sunday, went out to breakfast with the family, painted my front porch with the hubs, went to a yoga retreat with my mom, and then to another BBQ! I need a rest day now, lol.

  3. Why exciting adventures for you this week! I can’t wait until I start traveling again.

Red or white – if it’s wine, I drink! My mom and I made sangria the last time I was home, but I don’t remember the recipe. It was a ton of fruit and I think ginger ale was involved.

  4. Good luck with the back-to-back trips! I also travel for work, so I know how stressful it can be. For last St. Patty’s Day, I made an awesome “Green Sangria” with white wine, cucumbers, green apples, mint, and lime. I didn’t think the flavors would all come together, but it was great! I guess that will tell you that I’m more of a white sangria girl over red.

  5. Ooh, I would highly, highly recommend taking the little ferries from Greenport to Shelter Island, and Shelter Island to Sag Harbor, then driving to Southampton from Sag (no reservations needed for the little ferries, just drive up). It’s more expensive, but it’s a spectacular drive, and will give you a much better sense of what some of the Hamptons are about IMO. The drive across Shelter Island should be particularly stunning at this time of year. You can always just do it on your way back too.

Also, stop at Fork & Anchor for an amazing BLT before or after you get off the big ferry if you’re hungry (right on 114 before you hit Greenport)!

  6. My weekend was awesome-loving the fall and the cooler weather. Lots of walking! And no on Sangria-I’ve never had it.

80’s themed seems to be the “theme” for the year. I’ve been to 2 separate 80’s parties already! (for the record, both for my parents. so….)
    love the banana!

  7. Sounds like you’ll have a hectic – but very fun! – week! Enjoy yourself!! We had a busy weekend with lots of time with friends so it was a good one!! And I love white sangria….actually now that I think about it I’m not sure if I’ve ever had red sangria!! But we’re going out with friends Friday night and I think red sangria will be my first order of business!! 🙂

  8. Have a safe trip!! 🙂

I went to an 80’s-themed party a few weeks ago and it was so much fun.

I actually just wrote a post on the 80’s as well – check it out ! I am sure you would remember most of the things in the post since we are around the same age. 🙂

  9. Recently hooked on red sangria. You HAVE to try Eppa Sangria that they sell at Whole Foods. If you become a spokes person for this after this tip. I want in!

  10. oh man my bf and i went through a short but intense sangria phase this summer. usually eyeballed amounts, but i must say that canned pineapple is a must! sparkling wine (like andre), oj, and sprite are good too. then just mix it all together with red wine or bottled sangria and dump in as much fruit as possible (halved grapes, peaches, oranges, apples). deeelicious.

  11. I actually live and work in New London, right by the ferries. If you have time for some food and want some suggestions, let me know.

  12. Awesome weekend…the weather was unreal on Sunday here in Houston! I like both red and white sangria, but a you cannot beat a really good red sangria. YUMMY! Safe travels on your back to back trips!

  13. I went from Boston to my husbands family in the hamptons a couple of weeks ago and went the exact same way!
Loved catching the ferry across, it was such a nice way to get there. And I love those towns along the north fork – Greenport is so cute if you get a chance to check it out.

  14. Ooh white sangria for sure as long as it’s not too sweet! And that banana toy is the cutest thing ever, I need it for my chihuahua! Have a fun trip 🙂

  15. O.M.G. the Bananagram just seriously made my day. It’s been a bit of a rough day for me today and that banana and Murphy’s obvious love for it, just made me burst out laughing. So damn cute! 🙂

  16. Not a huge fan of red sangria either, but this is hands-down the best I have ever had and is perfect for fall!

1 Bottle Bottle low price point red wine
2 Cups Cups SPICED apple cider
    1/2 Cup Orange Juice
    1/2 Cup Captain Morgans Rum
Mix: ingredients together and garnish with orange wheels, apple slices and
    cinnamon sticks.
    To serve: Pour over ice

  17. Omg, that last picture of Murphy is hilarious hahaha!!

My weekend was fun! I stayed in Friday night to relax, but spent Saturday with friends & Sunday with my boyfriend. So it was a great time! 🙂

I actually don’t like wine, so I don’t like sangria either lol. I can somewhat tolerate white wine depending on the kind, but red wine is a big no-no for me lol.

  18. HI Tina –

I got a bit of a chuckle out of the Woonsocket destination reference, as there isn’t much to see there. That is where I was born and raised. The only place you could be going in CVS HQ. I am curious to know what kind of sponsorship you are working on with them.
