Murphy is seriously obsessed with chicken. I was on grill duty for dinner last night, so he didn’t leave me alone the entire time.
Dinner
On the menu: Roasted Chicken & Veggies with Maple Mustard Sauce. I did my own thing and cooked the chicken on the grill and veggies separately in the oven. It was probably a little more work this way, but it still turned out well. I also added cauliflower to the mix. I’m lovin’ it lately.
Ok, so let’s talk a little more about Murphy’s chicken obsession. This dog goes mental when chicken is around (as witnessed here and here). He acts like such a little diva. He cries, whines, and spins in circles. It’s absolutely ridiculous.
Anyway, Murphy has gotten sort of really annoying with his love for chicken, so Mal taught him how to “back off” when we’re eating. At first, Murphy gets a little confused and gets closer, but then remembers how to “back off” and is appropriately rewarded.
I love this dog so much.
For dessert, I enjoyed a small handful of candy corn””my first of the season!

I love the Captiva Strap Waterproof! I’ve been looking for a stylish alternative to those clunky, awful rubber rain boots everyone has.
Congrats, Dani! Please email me at tina@carrotsncake.com with your full name, mailing address, shoe size, and selection.

Our puppy is just realizing that we have food on our plates. He went crazy when we were eating breakfast this morning. Too funny Murphy!
I thought about doing this adorable thing of filling glass vases with candy corn to use as decor or candle holders.
Then I realized I’d just eat pounds of candy corn with candle wax dripped all over them and decided it wasn’t that good of an idea.
I love your dog too!! I could just steal him (but I won’t). My Boston has a habit of resting his head on your arm while you eat (if we are not at our table but eating on TV trays). It’s hilarious! He doesn’t try to take anything but wants to make sure you know he’s there. They melt your heart don’t they? Smoosh-faced dogs rule!
Totally! Love them! 🙂
I would be obsessed with human food if I were a dog. It’s so good!
Ha! So true! 🙂
Hahaha that video is too funny! My puppy goes crazy over turkey and apples! So healthy! I love candy corn but it’s dangerous! I haven’t had any yet!
Have you tried the peanuts and candy corn combo?! It’s SO good and totally addicting!!
Oh man, he’s too cute! My dog will spend an entire meal on her back, since “roll over” is her least favorite way to earn a treat, and thus she thinks if she does it, she has totally earned whatever she wants. :p
That is soooo funny! I sure hope she gets something after spending all that time in a submissive position!
so cute! and I totally didn’t expect Mal to have a Boston accent for some reason.
Does he have one?
Haha! Love this. I love chicken too! 🙂
Murphy is awesome! Too cute. I wish my vice was chicken…not ice cream. 🙂
Heheh what a cute pup…Buoy our english bulldog would love to play with Murphy!
He is SO cute. I adore Murphy 🙂 The grilled chicken looks perfect. I had candy corn last weekend- addictive!
Murphy is so cute!
I totally wanna teach our puppy “back off”! We’ve taught him all of the basic commands and recently just added in “roll over” but I’m not sure he’ll ever learn “stay” haha 😛 If he sees something he wants, he can’t be stopped!
Aww poor Murphy! He’s just so deprived! 😉 Haha! Very cute video!
Our Chiweenie stalks me in the kitchen and looks at us at the table when we’re eating, but he’s usually pretty disciplined. Although, every grocery bag we bring through the door just HAS to be for HIM. All him. Must be. Why else would we go out and come back with so many tempting scents and not share? lol
Ohhhh! I love candy corn. No control around it though. I definitely bought a small bag and had it devoured in a weekend! If only they sold single serving packs!
Haha I love that it’s specifically chicken and not all meat, he is so cute!
Murphy’s so cute! Our cats go nuts for turkey….they jump on the counter and in the trash looking for extra pieces!
Wow, I need to teach my little guy that one. He is WAY too close for comfort during dinner time. Last night, he jumped on my lap and face planted head first on the table. I’m not sure he would ever understand “back off” but it’s worth a try. 🙂
Our dog ‘Johnny Cash’ goes by Cash is nuts about chicken and any lunch meat. I however don’t go crazy for candy corns…but clearly I heart Swedish Fish. 🙂 Have a fab weekend Tina. I think I’ll call you Tiny Tina. MmmK?
🙂
Oh my gosh, I know I’m getting repetitive on every post, but I just can’t get over the look of pure desperation and and neediness Murphy always has. He’s so cute.
This is completely random, but I love that napkin!
Murphy has won my heart over! So cute.
Definitely need some candy corn in my life soon. 🙂
awwww! hahahah that was too cute! He’s a smart lil guy, isn’t he? It’s always interesting to hear the voice of the blogger or their loved ones too, hehe.
Too funny! We used to tell my dog to “Beat it” during dinner. Never responded to go away, but beat it worked.
Murphy is so cute!! My dogs are usually pretty good about backing off. I try to feed them before I eat, that way they’re not starving at my feet.
Dogs and their obsessions! Mine is also a chicken lover ha.
Murphy’s soooo cute! 😀 I loved the video.
HAHA! Too much. I’ve taught Popcorn (my pup, not the food) to “get in his crate” when he wants a treat. It’s a nice way to distract him away from the dinner table 😉
Yum! Haven’t had any candy corn yet! I need to fix that this weekend:)
My dog is the same, especially with rotisserie chicken! He goes nuts as soon as I walk in the house with it!
candy corn! good plain, but best when dipped into a bowl of frosting. sugar overload.
My chihuahua used to go crazy like this, too! It definitely got annoying.
Also, I gotta get me some candy corn! Mmm!
Love how cute Murphy is!!! I would be obsessed with that chicken too, though. Looks delicious!
Awww that video is so cute and funny. My dog can sit… and that’s it, but she’s very good at it! ha!
haha too cute! As least he’s little 🙂 Our weim will come straight up to your face if he has too.
We have a Mini Schnauzer that goes crazy for carrots. I think he knows what they sound like when you cut a carrot. He will run from another room and sit on your feet while you’re cutting carrots.
Merrell, thats close to my name, Merel (it’s dutch for blackbird)! My mom used to have Merrell shoes!
