Back to Live Blogging

Hey there!

I'm Tina

Hi, guys!

So, I was talking to some of my blog buddies the other day about “live” blogging. Remember the days? Us OG bloggers would publish posts within hours of something happening in our lives. I remember staying up super late after events just to write a blog post so it happened to “real” time. It was such a different time in the world of blogging (before Instagram!), but sometimes I miss it.

I think about all of the Instagram stars, incredible recipe developers and photographers, and every kind of expert out there, and I honestly can’t complete with them. I mean, I started CNC as a personal journal to keep me on track with healthy eating and exercise. I basically just “do me” on this blog – for better or worse – and don’t want to try to be something (someone?) that I’m not. I’m kind of rambling here, but I’m thinking about bringing back the live style of blogging – at least a few days a week. Truthfully, it kind of takes the pressure off because I can just be me and share whatever is on my mind or happening in my life at the time. I know I won’t publish 3 times a day like I used to, but I’d like to share more “day in the life” blog posts. I hope you guys like the change, and we’ll see how it goes and whether it’ll stay for the long term. With that, here’s a little recap of my day so far! 🙂

I was up and at ’em at 5:01 AM this morning to squeeze in some work. I love having my boys home during the summer, but, man, I get nothing done on the work front. I always feel guilty if I’m working when they’re home, so I try to be present with them as much as possible. The work will always be there, right? 😉

I worked for a couple of hours and then threw on my sneakers for a run around the neighborhood. I’m running the Falmouth Road Race with Health Warrior again, so I’m working on getting my mileage back up. Unfortunately, I felt like absolute garbage and called it quits after 3 miles (technically, 2.89). Running was just not happening this morning, so I didn’t force it. My body was definitely telling me something. Oh, well. I’ll try again later this week.

FYI: In recent times I’ve traded in my beloved Glycerin for the Launch, which are a lighter and more energized shoe. I’m liking them a lot more for shorter runs!

After my run, I was a sweaty mess – it was super humid this morning – so Murphy licked me to death. I must have tasted especially delicious this morning!

After that, I showered and reheated a piece of Potato & Black Bean Enchilada Casserole, which I topped with an egg and chunks of avocado. It was SO DARN DELICIOUS! I’ll be sure to share the recipe soon – it’s so easy to make and awesome for a quick breakfast, lunch, or dinner!

After lunch, I hopped on a Skype call with the lovely ladies (Taylor and Salah) of The Trillest Podcast. I actually just discovered their podcast when they reached out about me being on it, and now I am an instant fan. They love everything that I do – CrossFit, running, Orangetheory, healthy eating, hormones, Girls Gone WOD podcast, and Salah is a new mom. We had tons in common! The episode will be out in early September, so I’ll be sure to let you guys know when it’s live. In the meantime, be sure to check out their podcast!

Question of the Day

Live blogging? Love it or eh, you could live without it?

How often are you checking in with blogs nowadays?

  1. YES!!! Bring it back. To me, it seems like blogs have become really forced. I keep reading for glimpses of the past though I do really love the Instagram live videos. I didn’t expect to like them bc I get like zero free time as a mom of two haha but they’ve been a nice little break for me.

  2. Yup I’m totally into live blogging like we did back in the day. I started a new blog just for me and it feels so good to just write like it’s a journal. Maybe one day it will morph into something different but for now, it’s nice to write for me and not what I think others want me to write about.

  3. Hi Tina, Long-time reader! I know you’ve gone through a lot of food intolerance/sensitivity testing – is there any path or regimen you would recommend? I’ve been having a lot of GI issues for months and would love to hear what you think is best to try re: testing for food sensitivities. Thanks!

      1. @Tina: Thanks! I know you mentioned the LEAP diet is very restrictive, but did you find it helpful in identifying intolerances?

  4. I love the live blogging idea! At first when I began reading the post I thought you were going to say you were done blogging so I was relieved to continue reading and see that that isn’t the case!

There are about 5 blogs that I check on a daily basis, yours being one of them, usually when I am eating breakfast or lunch.

  5. I always find 30 minutes a day to check in with the blogs I follow….I don’t always comment as I am sure you find with many but, I love checking in for a quick read. (To me its my magazine time….where I learn about foods, recipes, clothing, shoes…women issues etc….)

So I guess that’s a yes, to live blogging if you have time.

  6. The whole reason I started reading blogs is to get a glimpse into other people’s lives. Kind of like books…they allow you to take a break from your own life for awhile while at the same time giving you hope and knowledge that other people are indeed not perfect and are going through some of the same things you are going through.

  7. I love that your bringing more “live” blogging back. Blogs are starting to feel too curated instead of relatable and I miss it!

  8. I love the idea of more of blog where one can read. As much as I love your live videos I like to read things vs watch. Reason being, is that I read in my spare time waiting at a doctors office, between here and there appoitments where sometimes I am in public and dont want my phone to broadcast a video so its easier for me to skim and read.

Best of luck figuring it all out, it’s always a juggle. 🙂

  9. Yay!! Call me old school, but I much prefer reading this to having to listen to an Instagram video or go through you tube!

  10. I love the idea of going back to “live” blogging! I believe it is definitely much more relatable. The forced, always sponsored posts that some bloggers do constantly have swayed me from reading and being a loyal reader. I understand that is how bloggers make a living and support their family. However, sponsored posts shouldn’t be multiple times each week!

  11. I LOVE reading real life blog posts and always liked yours … you were one of the first blogs I ever found and tagged along with daily!

  12. I am totally here for the live blogging! I do it 1-3 times a week on my own blog, depending on the week. I love seeing regular days in people’s lives, so I’m glad you’re bringing it back! I hope more of the popular bloggers will follow suit 🙂

  13. Yes! I LOVE the live blogging. It seems so genuine, and I love the bloggers who still do live blogging!!!

  14. I love the old school blogging! The timing is funny, thanks to FB memories I was just thinking about when I would do the same. It was a lot of fun!
Now those posts seem to go on Instagram instead…I think you’re on to something here Tina!

  15. Hey Tina!

I have never commented before but wanted to ask you opinion on Brooks shoes. I am dealing with Plantar Fasciitis, and I heard brooks were the best. I am trying to decide between Ghost, Glycerin, and now maybe launch! Any tips on what you would recommend? I mostly due weight training, short runs, and Orangetheory. Thanks!

    1. Oh, man, Plantar Fasciitis is the worst. Ugh, sorry you’re dealing with that.

As far as Brooks go, any of those shoes are good picks. Is there a place near you where you could get a shoe fitting? If not, the Glycerin are the most supportive and cushioning. The Launch are a bit lighter and more “energized.” I like them for shorter runs and OTF. The Ghost are actually Brooks most popular shoe, so you really can’t go wrong with any of these picks!

      1. @Tina: Thank you so much Tina! It totally sucks. This helps though. I don’t do any long runs so I may try out the Launch. I may also order all three from zappos and then return the ones I don’t like LOL. Thanks again!

  16. I love your approach to blogging, and I follow you because you are real and have similar interests to me: crossfit, running, easy but healthy meals/snacks, puppy dogs, lol…….. While I am not really into podcasts or videos much, I will read whatever you publish. Have an awesome day!
