Good morning and happy Monday, friends!

Did you have a nice Easter Sunday? Ours was great and it was an especially nice holiday because we spent it with family and also because it was Quinn’s first Easter.

We went to my Grammie’s house for Easter brunch, which included all sorts of delicious food, including an Almond Cake that my cousin made and, holy cow, I ate like three or four pieces of it. I honestly couldn’t stop once I started and, man, it tasted incredible with iced coffee. I highly recommend it for a brunch get-together. I also love this quiche recipe. It’s typically my go-to for brunches. I actually made it for my Grammie’s brunch yesterday as well as one with bacon using the same recipe (minus the mushrooms).

Before we all sat down for brunch, we caught up with everyone, and Quinn received a few gifts from family members, including a Dalmatian hat (super cute), three Sandra Boynton books (our favorite), Matchbox cars, and an Easter balloon from my Grammie, which Quinn absolutely loved.

He thought it was the coolest thing ever!

Then, it was time to eat. We had a huge spread of food… scalloped potatoes, lobster mac & cheese, baked ham, roasted Brussels sprouts with pancetta, quiche, broccoli salad, and, oh, so many desserts.

Hooray for Easter brunch!

After brunch, we all headed outside for an Easter egg hunt.

Quinn was a little to young to participate this year, but he had a blast playing outside with Dad.

Hurry up, Dad!

Before we said goodbye to everyone, we snapped a quick family photo. Please note my jean on jean outfit. Mal assured me it was stylish, but I couldn’t help but think I was committing a fashion faux pas all day long.

  1. I can’t pull off Jean on jean. I’m not that fashionable and these days I embrace that about myself haha. Quinn is so freaking cute. That little bow tie kills me

  2. Easter was great here in NJ! In my opinion, jean on jean is okay if done how you did it- two different shades of jean. Especially when broken up by a super-cute flannel!

  3. I wore a jean jacket with darker jeans a few months ago and thought it looked good, but then one of my boyfriends friends laughed at me for wearing a “Canadian Tuxedo”. Whatever, I still think it’s cute!

  4. My mom has rocked the jean on jean look for years, and my sister and I always make fun of her. It’s become a running joke. Now the joke’s on her, because it’s super stylish these days! I think you nailed it – the light wash jacket over the dark wash jeans looks great!

  5. Our Easter was awesome, but I can’t get over how windy it was outside! We had a neighborhood egg hunt and it definitely didn’t feel like spring, we were so bundled up.

Jean on jean is fine, in my opinion, as long as you’re rocking different shades.

  6. I Think the Jean on Jean looks good since it’s 2 different shades. My husband seems to have a knack for picking out outfits that look good that I would never put together myself. Sandra Boynton books are some of our favorites as well! My son loved Are You a Cow?

  7. It’s funny that you should ask about your outfit … when I saw the pic on IG the other day I thought to myself “what a great outfit”!! So obviously I have no issues with jean on jean. The color contrast and top to break it up help as well 🙂

  8. I’ve been struggling with the jean on jean concept myself. I think the key is to pair different shades of denim..like a darker jean with a lighter (chambray) top. In my opinion that’s the best way to pull it off without looking like you stepped out of a western film 🙂

  9. Do you remember that show Queer Eye for the Straight Guy? They said jean on jean was totally fine so long as the items were very different washes. Y’all looked adorable.

  10. Jean on Jean is nice if different shades of jean 🙂

Also, who’s the guy in the red shirt & black hair? I swear he looks EXACTY like my bro a few years ago haha!

  11. OMG Quinn looked so adorable! Little kids in bowties..doesn’t get any cuter than that. I also think your outfit is great! If there’s a high contrast in the color (light + dark) it works. I also rocked jean on jean this weekend and I love it! You look really cute!

  12. I think jean on jean is generally a no go unless you want to look like britney spears and justin timberlake at the mtv awards back in the day , however your particular outfit is okay i think . I didn’t even realize the pants were jeans until you said it.

  13. What happened to the blazer you posted last week? Your denim mixing is fine, just SUPER casual, which is more about the setting than anything else.

  14. Canadian Tuxedo!!!!!!!!!!! Yes!!!! My rule of thumb for denim on denim is to have two different colors going, which you did. I think it looked great. And Quinn is absolutely adorable! That bow tie!

  15. I think you pulled off the jean on jean look because they were two different colors, with the lighter being on top. Good job!
And Quinn pulled off the baby bow-tie look just as well! 🙂

  16. You guys all look so cute. And actually, jean on jean is totally allowed. I prefer to do it how you did, with two shades of denim with major contrast. So rock it! Glad you had a lovely Easter with family and food! 🙂

  17. Tina you are rocking that Canuck Tux! 😉 I agree that the different colored denim is what makes it work. Looks like a great weekend. 🙂

  18. Your jean on jean AKA: Canadian Tuxedo looks ok since they are not the same color. Also I cannot get over Quinn’s outfit, ADORABLE!!!

  19. Sounds like there was a lot of delicious food at your Easter get together.

I think denim on denim works as long as it’s not too matchy. If you’re head to toe in the exact same wash it looks a little strange. I think your outfit looks fine though.

  20. The same color jean on jean is a no-go. I am not into it, but the different color jean on jean was A-Okay. It looked great on you.

Quinn’s outfit is totally adorable! My son got several of the Sandra Boynton books too. They are the ONLY ones he will actually sit still and have me read him.

  21. I think your outfit works!

Also, the person who gave Quinn an Easter balloon is a genius. Wish I had thought of it for my 1 year old!

  22. Your outfit looks super cute but I have to say that Quinn’s bow tie is really stealing the show!!! Cuteness overload with that little man!

  23. I can’t find the recipe (its hidden in the America’s Test Kitchen link) for the Almond Cake, and gosh darnit, I can’t stop thinking about it. Were you able to find it anywhere?

  24. First off, can we talk about Quinns outfit…OMG..that bow tie is too much..he is adorable..jean on jean is acceptable as long as it is two different shades and it’s broken up, like your outfit with the plaid shirt…your good..lol

  25. Quinn is just too cute!!!! 🙂 I like your outfit. When I hear “jean on jean” I think of one shade of denim all the way through so I wouldn’t have even noticed. It looks good with the dark jeans.

  26. I liked your jean on jean look and I do it all the time. I always have a jean jacket in my car so when I catch a chill I throw it on with anything. LOL
