I’ve come a long way since my early days of working from home. I no longer sit on the couch hunched over my laptop or at the dining room table where I can watch TV. Now-a-days, I work in my office at a desk and onlyĀ sometimes listen to music. I’ve also figured out how to work with a needy dog (aka “attention whore”)Ā by my side all day long as seen here, here, here, and here.
This morning, I embraced my right-brain and rearranged the office. Now that Mal and I both work from home, we need to share the space. I broke up our “super desk” and moved them apart, so now we each have a one to work on.Ā I gave myself the big desk! š
(Please note my very right-brained desk “filled with piles of papers, sticky notes, and business cards!” It’s organized to me! š )
Aww, isn’t Mal’s desk cute?! š
I mostly have the needy dog thing figured out, but I’m a softie when it comes to Murphy. I let sit on my lap while I work, which is not an easy feat for a 29-pound pug. Doesn’t he look uncomfortable?!
Pug pretzel.
Poor guy.
Eventually, he got settled on my lap… at least for a little while.
Not long after Murphy got comfortable, an army of tree cutting trucks pulled up outside on my street and got to work. They were so frickin’ loud!! šæ
Murphy was not pleased.
Despite moving furniture, meeting my pug’s demands, and listening to hours of machinery raucous, I managed to get a lot done. I swear, I’m more productive working from home than in an office!
Snack
Around 11:30, I snacked on a Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Blondie and some VitaCoco coconut water that has been sitting in my fridge since the Healthworks Blogger Bash. Surprisingly, it was still good and tasted alright. (I guess I don’t really like coconut water? š )
I definitely ruined my lunch with this snack because now I’m not hungry at all. Perhaps a workout will get my appetite going again?
See ya for dinner! š

i’m so jealous of your ability to work from home! i wish!
Aww, I love your “lap dog”! My dog weighs 50 pounds, and he still thinks he’s a lap dog… š Needless to say, it’s very comfortable for me.
i am not a fan of coconut water either. shame because its supposed to be super hydrating and in this heat we all need extra hydration! oh well…onto the next one!
I get so much more done if I am working at a desk, but I get the most done if I’m at the library.
I would love to have my own office. Or a clean office. Or to work from home. Anything!!
It’s official, Murphy needs his own blog, he’s the cutest!!!
I tried working at home for a couple months…was not successful. I am much too distractable.
Ahh I can’t wait until the day I work from home!! I love how big your desk is compared to Mal’s haha.
You should try ONE coconut water. It’s definitely the most flavorful of all of them!
Love your office, it’s so bright! I’m not really one for coconut water either. I like it okay but I usually just end up using it in my green smoothies.
mmmm peanut butter blondie???? sounds awesome!!!!!
So I did take the test and I’m totally left-brained. Although your desk looks perfectly organized to me, so maybe I’m crazy? š
I would love to work from home. I have visions of sitting around in my PJ’s, walking around whenever I feel like it and making tasty food in my own kitchen. It just sounds so much better than going to an office
hahaha I love it when good-sized/big dogs try to sit in your lap! My dog back home’s probably around 40 lbs and will do the same thing when riding the the car. š
I can imagine you get a ton more work done with an organized office….like when you rearrange a room – you just want to hang out in there! I’d love to work from home, but am having trouble finding a job!
I saw some coconut water at the store yesterday and thought about trying it, but the price tag scared me off. What does it taste like, and what are the benefits of drinking it? Do they outweigh paying more than $2 per container?
@Alexa@Running the Road to Recovery: I’ve only had it once, so I’m not sure. Maybe try Googling it? I don’t like the taste, so I wouldn’t spend my money buying it.
Murphy is adorable. š
haha my cats try to do the same thing when I am working! Two cats on one lap = an interesting combo!
Sometimes I eat a snack before an actual meal too… and some of those times it actually gets my appetite goin’! My parents always say that the actual act of eating is what brings on the appetite, haha š
Our pups are so needy but I’m glad we have a separate office downstairs so they can lounge around on the couch.
Poor Mal!
i used to have the same desk as mal (from ikea, right?!) but now my hubby and i share our dining room table as the desk.
I don’t know *how* you do it! When I used yo try to study at home, I would get nothing done! Mad props to you!
Murphy is quite possibly one of the most adorable dogs.ever.
I somehow always end up doing work on my laptop on my bed. It’s so comfy!
Murphy just keeps getting cuter and cuter!
I have very needy cats!! They about drove me crazy the month I sat at home studying for my boards! š
I really like your office space. I have my own built in work area in the condo we are renting. It sits between the spare room and the living room area. I love it! By the way…that blondie looks delicious. š
I haven’t had coconut water, but I’m not too fond of the (unsweetened) coconut milk I bought. I prefer my Overnight Oats with unsweetened almond milk.
I used to work from home and called the kitchen table my desk. If I start telecommuting, even part-time, I’d get a desk.
I’d rather eat pb blondies than have a dinner appetite anyday š
I’ve started to do a lot more work at home & I’ve had to use my study as a study. No eating in here, no movies or tv shows 9-5pm & I need to keep focused so I’ve made it more of an office
Hahaha, poor Mal. That desk reminds me of detention.
This is a wonderful opinion. The things mentioned are unanimous and needs to be appreciated by everyone.
