A scary thing happens when you switch from a cardio-based workout routine to a strength training-based one.⠀ ⠀
You (usually) gain weight.⠀ ⠀
Terrifying, right?!?⠀ ⠀
As your body adjusts to the new routine and muscles are being activated in ways they never have before, you’ll likely see an increase on the scale. Eventually, you’ll shed the fat and the scale will drop, but before that happens you might see an increase of 3-5, maybe more, pounds.⠀ ⠀
The good news is that, even though the scale is going up, your jeans are getting baggier and your arms are looking stronger. Oftentimes, when we add strength training to our workouts, we’ll see our measurements decrease and our body composition change for the better! ⠀ ⠀
Basically, if you see an increase on the scale, don’t freak out! It’s totally normal and should be expected. You’re building precious lean body muscle that will improve your physique, increase your metabolism, and help you burn more fat.⠀ ⠀
Stick to your new routine and don’t let the scale get the better of you. You’ve got this!⠀ ⠀
