Hi, friends! Hope you’re having a wonderful Saturday!
Murphy and I started our day with a trip to the dog park.
The weather was cool and crisp, but sunny and breezy at the same time– pretty much the perfect fall day.
Murphy met a bunch of dog friends and spent a ton of time (more than usual) sniffing things.
Murphy and I wandered around the park for well over an hour before heading home. I love spending time with my favorite pug. It always makes me happy. (Umm, that pug lip in the above photo is ridiculous.)
Workout
The weather was so beautiful this morning, it motivated me to go for a run when I got home. I ran 4 miles around my neighborhood, and it was glorious.
I haven’t run since the marathon, so I wasn’t sure how my body would feel, but, overall, it felt pretty good. Surprisingly, my hip didn’t hurt, but my knees started to bug me. WTF?! I don’t understand my body at all. Maybe I just need to take it easy with the running for a little while longer.
Lunch
After my run, I showered up and threw together a quick lunch of scrambled egg whites mixed with roasted Brussels sprouts and Parmesan cheese.
Once I finished eating, I headed out to run a bunch of errands, which included a trip to the dry cleaner, Kmart, Pet Smart, Best Buy, and Bed, Bath, Beyond, where I stumbled upon these adorable dog shoes:
How cute!!
Murphy would never wear them (he’s not into trends), but I couldn’t resist snapping a photo. I mean, they’re called Pugz. How could I not love them? Will someone buy these for their dog and then send me a photo? Pretty please?
The last of my afternoon errands included buying a bottle of wine for this evening. When I stopped by Curtis Liquors, I saw they were hosting their 15th Annual Grand Wine Tasting. Impromptu wine tasting? Sign me up!
I was alone and needed to drive home, so I only tasted a few different wines, but I found a great one at a great price: Wither Hill Sauvignon Blanc for just $12.99! Score!
Snack
I was pretty hungry when I got home, so I whipped up a batch of homemade granola, which I added to some Greek yogurt. So delicious, so satisfying.
Coconut Cherry Granola
Ingredients:
- 1.25 cups rolled oats
- 1/4 cup dried cherries
- 1/4 cup shredded coconut
- 1/4 cup roasted pumpkin seeds
- 1/2 tsp coconut extract
- 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- 1 tbsp canola oil
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350*F.
- Combine all ingredients in a bowl; mix well.
- Coat a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray, and then spread the oat mixture evenly on it.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes until oats start to lightly brown.
- Allow to cool before serving.

I’m off to walk Murphy and then drink wine.
Happy Saturday to all!

I’m going to a wine and cheese tasting in early December – does it get any better?!! I can’t wait. Only trouble is deciding who will be driving between me and the husband.
Actually, tasting cheese all night won’t be a problem – bring on the nightmares!
I bought some flowers from the market today and the colours really match all your lovely photo’s – I love Autumn š
It sure does look like a nice little Saturday for you! I love a mix of relaxing, productive, and enjoyable things throughout the day. That granola you made looks so good and one that’s different than I’ve seen before. I need to try it! Enjoy your wine this evening! š
Great fall pictures…the dog shoes…too cute. And love your fuzzy hood. Cozy!
Wine tasting…oh I’d love to sign up for that too š
We (my two corgi mixes and myself) went to the dog park the day before yesterday in the pouring rain. Because of the rain we had all 22 acres to ourselves to run around and play in mud puddles. Afterwards we came home and all got warm baths. We love the dog park in our house!
@Katie: I must see a picture of your corgi mixes! We have a 4 year old Corgi called Gawain. He is both the love and bane of my existence. Let’s just say he’s…passionate about protection. By that I mean that he barks at every noise heard. Here’s a link to a picture: http://wp.me/P1UqqT-2
That granola looks and sounds incredible. Two of the things I love most in life…cherries and coconut! Been trying to get my hands on some dried cherries for ages with no joy, I stumbled upon fresh ones today though! Lovely fall pics š
I just learned from my chiro that when your hips are misaligned or one leg is shorter than the other it can cause knee problems – which might be why yours hurts. I have a “short leg” (it’s like the short bus – ha ha) and he offered to give me an insert (for my shoe) to make my legs the same length. If you think you have a similar issue, it’s worth checking out!
Those are THE funniest dog shoes I have ever seen! š I knew they made ugg-like boots for babies.. but the dog ones are too much!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
I’m glad your run went well! And that park looks so relaxing!!!
I like those shoes for dogs! When our golden had a bad hot spot, we had to prevent him from scratching it with his nails. So we got socks and used athletic tape to hold them on. And when he went outside.. we put plastic baggies with rubberbands over the socks. It was quite the site. Shoes would have been easier.
Those pugz are too cute! My dog also wouldn’t wear them, although we do put those rubber balloon looking paw covers on her in the winter when there’s salt everywhere. It’s hilarious watching her walk around in them after we first put them on, especially on hardwood floors because they kind of act like little suction cups. I need to get that on video!
You look so bundled up in that photo with Murphy! How cold was it??
And I keep having random running pains, too. The whole “WTF is up with my body” question has been coming up a lot in my head…I just want to run!
my sister’s pug wears clothes sometimes…i wonder if he’ll wear those!
that dog park looks amazing. i wish there were parks like that near me. my teeny tiny dog only gets to go to the “small dog parks” which are just small little patches of grass…so boring.
That granola sounds fab!! I can’t wait to try š
Omg..those shoes are hilarious. I’ve seen booties for dogs before..but Ugz for dogs! haha that’s too funny.
Those shoes are so freaking cute!! I keep trying to get my puppy to wear sweaters, but she’s totally against it. I think they’re practical in the cold but guess she’s just not thinking logically š
Those boots are hysterical! I bought boots for my dog once because there was so much dry ice on the sidewalks, but he HATED them. He actually found someway to get them off in a big snow bank, so I couldn’t retrieve them until weeks later when it melted away hahaha.
I actually might need to pick those up for my pug! He HATES when his feet get cold in the snow. He’ll actually alternate & walk on three paws, giving one some relief from the cold… what a baby.
What a great Saturday! I didn’t do much, kind of lazy! Your granola looks wonderful! I am so addicted to granola, can’t keep my hands off it! lol
Same with me! Granola has no chance around me!
i spent the morning w a pug puppy and thought of you!

Cute!!
yum, that lunch has all of my favorite things… most importantly, brussels sprouts!!
i don’t think i could get our dogs to wear shoes either, they’d go bananas!
Looks like a beautiful day in Boston- great pics!
Great choice of wine! I’m from NZ and grew up about an hour out of Marlborough, where Wither Hills is grown! Delish š
Cool! It’s really great wine! I’m a huge fan of it!
I made granola yesterday too! I love that it’s fairly quick to make so I can just whip up a batch and satisfy my cravings in under an hour. š
Looks like a great day! So glad fall’s here… such a great season. Your pictures are great. and those dog boots are too funny. My puppy would probably take them off, or find a way to get them stuck on his head or ears. A little sad, but oh so cute.
Oh my goshh those shoes for dogs haha that’s too much!
Tina!
you have gotten me addicted to Pugs!
I saw this and immediately laughed out loud and thought of you…

LOL!
Pug uggs are so cute that it hurts to look at them! Ha
what gorgeous Autumn colours!
those boot are adorable! though i don’t blame murphy for steering clear of the latest trends… way to keep it classy, murphy!
Loving the sprouts with the eggs!
Yea, it was a really delicious combo! I’ll have to remember it for the next time!
I need to sign up for a newsletter that let’s me know when there’s wine tastings! š I’m always down.
walks, fall, the pup and wine…a few of my favorite things! š
Murphy was trying to make your knees feel better!
I LOVE Autumn! I have to remind myself of that every year as Summer winds down. I get depressed, and then feel the crips air and see the colors, and I’m happy again, lol!
I just got those Pugz as a present from a friend over the weekend and tried to get Clyde to wear them, but every time he moved they came off! I will try to get them on and get a picture! They are too funny!
@Brittney: Haha! Awesome! š
Don’t you love when nature inspires your body to do more?
That granola is making my mouth water right now. Ugh. Time for bed!! š
