A Good Saturday

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Today was an all-around GOOD Saturday!

After breakfast and apartment hunting, I hit the gym for a quickie 30-minute run on the treadmill. I didn’t have much time to exercise this afternoon, so I made sure to push myself for the entire duration. So, by the end of 30 minutes, I was winded and completely drenched in sweat. It was awesome! 😀 I covered 3.35 miles in 30 minutes.

Dog Park

Once I finished my sweaty run, I showered-up, dressed, and headed to the park with Mal and Murphy to meet Dave, Marie, and their dogs for some puppy playtime.

The dogs had a blast running around at the park! 😀

The humans did too! 😉

Mal and Murphy played “chase” at the park for a good 20 minutes!

I’m glad that my guys got their exercise in for the day! 😉

It had a really fun day with my boys!

We left the park around Happy Hour time, so we cracked-open a bottle of Bourbon County Stout when we arrived at Dave and Marie’s house. I’m not a huge dark beer fan, but this one is delicious! It’s dark and dense with thick foam and flavors of chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. It’s a great sipping beer.

I enjoyed a small pour and savored it slowly.

I also munched on a few chips and dip while chatting in the kitchen with my husband and our friends.

For dinner tonight, the four of us decided to make chili. Mmm! 🙂

We also baked some cornbread to have with the meal.

My bowl + cornbread.

After dinner, we sat around and played Cribbage like the old folks that we are– actually, it’s a really fun game!

Murphy passed out from exhaustion after some serious playing at the park.

Like all good meals, tonight’s ended with a yummy dessert: Cookie Brownie Bars!

Brownie + cookie = best of both worlds!

Of course, I just had to have one of these delectable treats, but I stopped myself before I got carried away. Usually, I’d eat a second or third bar, but just one did the trick tonight.

Heading to bed soon and sleeping LATE tomorrow morning!

Good night, blog friends!

  1. I love Betty Crocker’s Brownie, but I have never had there cookie brownie mix bars, but I think I will look into buying some when I go to the store next. Have you gotten any offers on your place?? Do you know when you might be moving??

  2. oh my god those brownies look heavenly. i don’t think i have enough control to stop at 1 which is why i rarely bake in my dorm!! great workout! sometimes having not a lot of time at the gym can help with increasing intensity. i read on zenhabits that to increase speed and endurance the long runs should be at a slow pace and longer than usual and the short runs should be made faster but kept short…i’m trying to do this to see if it helps

  3. Sounds like the perfect day, you’re right! I plan on making chili tomorrow, and now I want some cornbread to go with it! (Good job resisting temptation – you’ll be “losing dough” in no time.) 🙂

  4. Sounds like a fun day! Your puppy is too cute.

I have a question about your “Lose the Dough” challenge. I don’t want/mean to be critical in the least – I don’t think you need to lose any weight at all! – but I was just wondering what sort of plan you have for navigating social situations. You seem to do a great job balancing, but I was rereading your tips pages, and one of them stuck out to me : be a food snob. You recommend turning down storebought snacks and saving for more “worth it” treats. I think it’s awesome that you can stop at one cookie bar, but it seems like you get the opportunity to eat so many gourmet items (like at the truffle workshop thing!) that storebought treats would be easy to pass by! Just curious! Awesome run by the way, I know it’s a great feeling to enjoy a run after you’ve been dealing with a slight injury.

  5. Great run! It sounds like your hip is starting to feel quite a bit better? That’s fantastic!

Looks like a fun day. I LOVE it when my puppy has play dates, because he conks out for the evening! It’s on these nights where my boyfriend and I can have uninterrupted dinners!

Umm, those brownie/cookie bars look amazing. I’ve never heard of them. Crazy awesome invention 🙂

  6. What a great day! I’m so afraid to take my dog to the dog park because, knowing her, she’ll just run away from me! Glad you guys had fun and your evening in sounds perfect 🙂

  7. That treadmill workout looks intense, but fun! I’ve found that changing my speed every minute or so not only keeps me from getting bored, but also probably mimics a “true” running pace more acurately. I don’t think our bodies naturally stay at one speed for extended amounts of time, so I bet variety is good!

    Murphy is so precious!!

  8. Cornbread and chili is such a feel good meal! They’re definitely some of my favorite comfort foods… and those brownie cookie bars look amazing!
