6 Reasons Why We’re The Perfect Match

Mastermind Weekend 1/16

Hey there!

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.

An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

Mal and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary over the weekend, so I thought it would be nice to highlight some of the reasons (6 reasons for 6 years) why I think we are the perfect match.

We are equally laid-back and neurotic

The fact that Mal and I are equality laid-back and neurotic makes our relationship work. We both have things that we are “particular” about, but the other person seems to balance and mellow us out. For example, when I got into an accident with my new car right after buying it, I thought it was the end of the world. Once Mal knew everyone was okay, he calmed me down and reminded me it was just a little fender-bender. And, once it was fixed, my car would be as good as new again. Same, of course, goes for Mal. There’s been plenty of times when he’s upset about something, and I’m able to help him put things into perspective.

We’re always trying to improve and better ourselves

It might be part of our Gemini personalities, but Mal and I are always trying to improve and better ourselves as people. We both have high expectations for ourselves and we’re basically never satisfied””when it comes to our work, our home, our fitness level””we’re always trying to get better, and it’s nice to have someone who understands this desire and supports my efforts.

We think each other is the funniest person we know

Mal and I aren’t especially funny people, but we think each other is the funniest person we know. For example, when we’re with friends, Mal will crack a joke or say something that’s meant to be funny, and I’ll be the only person who laughs. Haha! Same goes for me. I’m not particularly funny when I’m around other people, but when it’s just Mal and me, I always have him cracking up at the ridiculous stuff I say and do. We just ”˜get’ each other’s sense of humor, so it makes for a lot of laughs, random conversations, and good times together.

We tell each other everything

Unless someone specifically says to me: “Don’t tell Mal,” there’s a very high probability that I will tell him whatever they just told me. I don’t keep much from Mal, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same for him. He keeps me in the loop about a lot of different things in his life. Some of them I don’t even want to know about! Haha!

We love to do stuff

In general, Mal and I are not fans of sitting around the house doing nothing. We’re both easily bored and like to stay busy, so we just love doing stuff together””from home improvement projects to active vacations. We also like trying new things, so it’s fun to have a buddy to do them with.

We take care of each other

From the big things (UC flares, last-minute surgeries, pregnancy) to the little things (buying iced coffees, back rubs, letting each other nap), Mal and I always have each other in mind and take care of one another. It really is a nice feeling knowing that he always has my best interest and happiness in mind. And, of course, I always have his too!

Happy anniversary, Mal! I love you.

Past anniversary celebrations:

  1. This was one of my favorite posts; so sweet! 🙂 Happy Anniversary you two! Love that baby – he’s ADORABLE!

  2. Oh my husband definitely knows EVERYTHING. And agreed on the funny thing, we both think we’re total comedians, but I’m pretty certain no one else would agree. Ha. Happy Anniversary!

  3. This is so so so sweet and inspiring! Never settle for anything less than at least those 6… that’s why I’m still single 🙂 Haven’t found one up to par yet! You guys are so lucky to have each other! I love seeing you and your wonderful family happy everyday, it’s what life is all about! CnC is forever my favorite blog… and not just because Murphy is the cutest thing with fur in all of the land.

  4. I think it is so important to be open with you spouse and tell them everything. It helps you stay on the same page, and keeps you close. My hubby and I are opposites, but somehow we make it work 🙂 I hope you have an amazing anniversary!!

  5. This is such a sweet post, reminds me that I need to tell my husband more often why I’m so happy I’m married him. Congrats on 6 years!

  6. Happy Anniversary! My husband and I just celebrated our first year over the weekend! We went hiking in the mountains of NC and it was absolutely the most relaxing and special time together. Marriage is pretty much the most awesome adventure.
