25 Things You (Probably) Don’t Know About Me

I'm Tina

I’m the owner of Carrots ‘N’ Cake as well as a Certified Nutrition Coach and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P). I use macros and functional nutrition to help women find balance within their diets while achieving their body composition goals.


An in-depth, 4-week reverse dieting course for women who feel like their metabolism has slowed down, think they might have hormonal imbalance and can’t lose weight no matter what they do.

I saw this “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” piece in last week’s US Weekly, and I thought it would make a fun blog post, so here goes!


  1. I’m happiest when I’m with my boys.
  2. ”¦ especially if it involves relaxing outside on a sunny day and drinking iced coffee.
  3. I’ve always wanted to visit the Grand Canyon.
  4. My family and I love cheese!
  5. I was a terrible math student.
  6. My first job was scooping ice cream. (I got carpel tunnel and gained 10 pounds that summer!)
  7. I could probably eat cake every day. Actually, I know I could.
  8. I stole clothes from my sister when we were in high school, but I would get mad at her whenever she did the same thing to me.
  9. I was born on the same day as Macklemore and Paula Abdul.
  10. My all-time favorite film is Pretty Woman followed closely by The Goonies.
  11. I do a pretty mean pug impression.
  12. I’m still mad I never lived on the West coast.
  13. I met my husband in high school.
  14. I always knew I wanted to go to college. Even as a little kid, it was a dream of mine.
  15. I’m not afraid to try new things. I will pretty much try anything once!
  16. I make the best smoothies.
  17. I have almost no singing ability. Seriously, it’s embarrassing.
  18. I always cry when I see animals in distress.
  19. I’m a Bostonian, but I don’t really care about any of the city’s professional sports teams.
  20. I spent 4 months in York, England on a semester abroad.
  21. I wish my folks lived closer.
  22. At 5, I was deeply in love with cats and ballet.
  23. I believe if everyone had a pug the world would be a better place.
  24. I can’t stand when people are know-it-alls.
  25. Whenever Sex and the City is on, I’ll watch it.

    2. My first job was answering the phone at my mom’s dance studio while she was teaching class. I was paid $0.50 an hour!
    3. I can’t stand walking around barefoot. I need at least socks on or something.

  2. I never knew you and Mal met in high school! I would love to hear that story. And yes, I am a Sex and the City fiend. I’ve never watched the seasons all the way through in sequential order, but I’ve probably seen every single episode just through re-reuns on TV! Have a nice weekend with the boys 🙂

  3. This is a fun one! I may have to recreate this on A Lady Goes West as well.

    I actually share a few of yours. But here are the highlights:

    1. I wish my folks lived closer. They’re in Florida, and I’m in California.
    2. I wanted to be a TV news reporter growing up, but started out in broadcast journalism as a college student and didn’t like the idea of moving to a small market.
    3. I’m known to have more than one piece of cake at a wedding. Whoops!

  5. 1. I used to imagine as a child that I was a part of the Secret Seven (a children’s detective series) by Enid Blyton.
    2. Later I wanted to be a dancer and the main lead of rom-coms.
    3. I love to cook and shop. I make some mean chicken curry – my friends expect me to cook it for them once a month.

    1. I never dye my hair, but I fear I will have to once the gray hairs start multiplying!
    2. I could eat Mexican food and chocolate every day.
    3. Watching golf on tv makes me fall asleep every time.

    3. I’ve always wanted to visit South Africa.

    15. I’m not afraid to admit I am wrong. I will apologize and mend whenever I need to. Pride is not an issue for me.
    21. I wish we lived back in Cali. Loved the year found beautiful weather!

    17. I have almost no sense of space. I’m constantly bumping in to everything!
    22. At 5, I was deeply in love with horses and jumping over stuff (aka “gymnastics”)
    24. I can’t stand having my feet stuck. It’s like my fight or flight instinct goes crazy and I panic. I’ll even wake myself up in the middle of the night if my feet get tangled in the covers!

    6. My first job was rounding up baby pigs for vaccinations & shots on our family farm

    Also I feel the same about #12. I’ve tried to intern/get a job there a few times… it’s never panned out. I guess it worked out pretty well living on the east coast for me though.

    2. My first job was at a bagel shop – this turned me into a morning person.
    3. I cannot live without my (paper) planner. I’ve tried to use technology with different apps/calendars, etc. but I can’t ever break away from my paper planner!

  15. I always love these sorts of things! It’s so fun to learn random tidbits of information about people.

    1. After growing up in the midwest, living on the East Coast & West Coast, I can say with confidence, I prefer the East Coast.
    2. I’m super cheap and won’t spend my money on anything, but fitness seems to be the exception (CrossFit, new running shoes & workout gear, etc).
    3. I have 2 tattoos that my family doesn’t know about and my next 2 are planned out already.

    2. I secretly love being left handed because it makes me somewhat different
    3. I hate when people give me advice that they fully expect me to follow. Advice does not mean that I have to do it! Thanks 😉

  19. 6. my first job was answering the phones in our church Rectory for $3 a day. I’d book special intention masses and make appointments – I was 10. I ‘d also snack on unconsecrated wafers and sneak sips of wine.
    13. Like you, I am also 3 years older than my husband, he was a soph, and I was just out of hs. Such scandal(!), that was more than 27 years ago, we’ve been happily married for 21 years.
    19. As a fellow Bostonian, it’s nice to see another #19 out there. There are a few of us.

    -first job was a bag girl/cart girl at ACME. I lasted 2 weeks.
    -#1 all time-fav movie is Sleepless in Seattle
    -Julia Roberts and I share the same birthday. Pretty Woman is a close 2nd! And she’s one of my fav. actresses !

    3. My first job was in a fro yo and coffee shop…I was totally addicted to fro yo that Summer.

  22. I’ve got a 2 week old at home and am so happy sex in the city plays on E pretty much all afternoon! I’ve seen all the episodes like 10 times each but it never gets old ☺️

  28. haha i totally always stole clothes from my sister but would get super mad if she did it to me!! my first job was a hostess at first watch – still love that place! and i LOVE pretty woman!! now my favorite movie is probably pitch perfect.

  31. Totally understand the sister clothes theft drama — my sister once got so pissed I wore her shirt that she rubbed my braced teeth into our living room carpet”¦ and then left me stuck there for a while as punishment haha

  32. I am so with you on #12 – i live in NY but feel like I was definitely delivered to the wrong coast 🙁 I always say if it wasn’t for family & friends I would move to Cali in a second!

  36. 1. I’m not afraid to take on a ridiculous challenge or dare! I ate an orange whole, rind and all, because my 10th grade bio teacher said I wouldn’t. Bad idea.
    2. At 5, I was deeply in love with Dire Straits “Woo Hoo” song (Walk of Life and yes, really) and playing dress-up. Old habits die hard.
    3. I believe if everyone had an ice cream cone the world would be a better place. Seriously, who would fight while eating ice cream?!

    3. I’ve always wanted to – take a cross country road trip! I’ve made if from SC to Vegas but I really want to go the whole way.
    6. My first job was coaching gymnastics
    7. I could probably eat blueberries or dark chocolate every single day.

  38. I can definitely see you guys happy on the west coast!

    1. One of my dream vacations has always been to visit (and ski at) several big ski resorts I’ve never been to and stay in the fancy lodge for a night or two nearby (in towns like Jackson Hole, Aspen, Whistler, etc).
    2. I really want to take a big road trip to all the national monuments I haven’t seen (Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Mt Rushmore, etc). I also want to take the manfriend to Moab, Utah. The red rocks there are amazingly beautiful.
    3. I bite my nails and can’t seem to stop. It’s a terrible habit that I wish I could ditch.
