Good morning! Happy Monday!
Are you partaking in 24 Days of Togetherness? If so and you’re on Instagram and/or Twitter, feel free to use the hashtag #24daysoftogetherness. It’ll be fun to follow along and see what everyone else is doing to celebrate the holidays and togetherness.
On the agenda for today: Buy each other a small gift. I have a couple of ideas for Mal””D&D gift card, a bag of pistachios (one of his favorite foods ever)”¦ things like that””but I want to get him something unique or really random/funny to make him laugh. Any ideas?
On December 1, Mal picked “Write Haikus about one other.” Of course, right? The most random one of the bunch to kick it off! Ha! He didn’t want me to share his Haiku on CNC, but here’s mine:
Why I love you so
You smile with your whole face
You make me happy
We ended up turning our Haikus into a Christmas tree ornament with our poems written on each side. We just used a piece of cardstock and ribbon to make it.
Yesterday, Mal picked “Bake Christmas cookies,” which we were both really excited about. We planned to make cut-out sugar cookies and decorate them with sprinkles.
Well, unfortunately, we ran out of all-purpose flour (we substituted almond meal/flour, which just wasn’t the same) and sugar, so our cookies kind of bombed. The dough was much too sticky to use cookie cutters, so we just made regular round cookies with sprinkles. They still tasted delicious, but they weren’t as fun as we had originally planned. Oh, well, it was still fun to bake cookies together!
Breakfast
This morning’s breakfast was a French Toast Breakfast Scramble with blueberries and almond butter in the mix.
I ended up going back for two more scoops of almond butter. TJ’s raw crunchy unsalted almond butter is where it’s at! YUM!

We thought about doing the 24 days of togetherness, but decided to make a list together of festive things we want to do in December. Making a gingerbread house is my #1 must do!

@Tara: I love their peanut butter! So amazing!
Homemade nut butter is the BEST! I love white chocolate peanut butter. That’s my favorite kind to make!
Mine is soy nut butter from The Soy Nut Butter Company! I wish I could have peanut butter, cashew butter, etc, but I love soy nut butter, so I’m not too sad about it!
I loved the 24 days of togetherness when I read your post, and I used some of yours for ours. We picked buy a gift today too! I got my husband a cookie monster t-shirt because he LOVES cookies.
CASHEW BUTTER! It’s almost too good to buy…because eating it by the spoonful gets expensive. 🙂
I have a knack for messing up cookie recipes–especially gluten free ones!
@Cheryl @ Happy is the new healthy: Agreed, cashew butter is amazing!
Skippy Natural never fails me 🙂
Justin’s Maple Almond butter is my fave! Unless Nutella counts? 🙂
Whole Foods freshly ground almond butter is the best! Dedham also has freshly ground peanut and dark chocolate chip butter which is crazy good, but dangerous!
