Happy New Year’s Eve, friends!
The start of a new year means: NEW GOALS! And you guys know how much I love setting goals for myself. I blog about my goals at the start of every new year and then review them at the end of the year to see how things went. Setting goals helps me keep my eye on the prize and motivates me to work toward them. And, of course, sharing new goals on CNC for the upcoming year makes me even more accountable!
But, first, let’s see how I did with my goals for 2015!
My goals for 2015
Roll with it – Yes. I made some serious progress with this one””thanks, of course, to 10% Happier. I wasn’t exaggerating when I said this book changed my life. It really has helped me to slow down, roll with it, and stop stressing about every little thing that comes my way.
Run the Boston Marathon – YES! And it was one of the best days of my life! (I still get teary-eyed thinking about it.) A HUGE thank you to Stonyfield and those of you who supported me during my training!! I couldn’t have done it without you!
Beat Kerrie at a WOD – Technically, yes. We did “Flight Simulator” back in November and my time was faster than hers, but I’m not sure I count it as a real workout. Plus, I know deep down she would smoke me at just about any workout we did together!
Travel with Quinn – Yes! We traveled quite a bit with the little dude last year: Seattle, Black Butte Ranch, Kennebunkport, Portland, Burlington, and Newport.
Drink more smoothies – Yes-ish. I went through phases last year of drinking them all the time and then not very much. Quinn is a HUGE fan of smoothies, so I’m drinking them a lot more nowadays.
Stop saying “like” so much – Umm, fail. I honestly forgot about this goal and didn’t work on it very much.
Unsubscribe from five junk emails each week – Yes-ish. Similar to the smoothies above, I went through phases with this one””some weeks I was really good about unsubscribing from unless emails and then I wouldn’t do it for a few weeks.

And now my goals for 2016”¦
Run a sub-1:54 half marathon – I’ve run a 1:54 half three times now! THREE! It’s my current PR, so I’m dying to break it.
Learn how to cook fish that I actually like to eat – Fish is such a nutritious source of protein and fat, and I know I should be eating more of it, but it just never tastes amazing when I cook it at home. Any tips/advice/recipes are welcomed!!
Do something to benefit the IBD community – Maybe it’s running a half marathon and fundraising for the CCFA? Or talking with IBD patients on the regular? (Right now, I chat with CNC readers over the phone. I’m obviously not an expert and everyone’s disease is soooo different, but I think it’s nice to just talk to someone who understands what they’re going through.) I’m not sure exactly, but I want to do something. Again, any advice/suggestions are welcomed!
Learn how to do Handstand Push-Ups and Toes-to-Bar like they’re my job – I can do a couple of each, but not strung together well and they’re pretty much a joke during a workout for me, so I want to really work on these skills in the coming year.
Travel with Quinn – Mal and I love travel, and we love sharing new experiences with Quinn, so we definitely want to plan some adventures for 2016.
Start saving for Quinn’s future – We keep talking about this, but haven’t actually done much yet, so it’s definitely a goal for next year.
