Good morning, friends!

The other day, I read a statistic in Real Simple that 94% of pet owners talk to their animals as if they were human.

It’s theorized that we chat with our pets because we believe they hear us better than anyone else does””even if the conversation is one-sided. We sense their regard for our thoughts and feelings, and when we’re alone with them, we’re not as self-conscious to share how we truly feel.

I’m totally on board with this reasoning, and, of course, I fall right into this people-who-talk-to-their-pets-as-if-they-were-human statistic. I work from home, so I talk to Murphy a lot throughout the day. I actually ask him questions quite often””obviously, knowing he’ll never answer them, but, in my head, he replies with his ridiculous pug expressions and body language. For example, when it’s time for dinner:

Me: Murphy, are you hungry? Do you want dinner?

Murphy: [dinner enthusiasm]

Clearly, Murphy and I “get” each other. Haha!

I know I say all sorts of weird things to Murphy and act like he’s a little human creature, but I’m okay with that. He makes me happy, and he’s good company.

He’s also a really good listener.

I love smoothies and drink them all the time, but, sometimes, they don’t satisfy me as long as I hoped. In the past, I’ve whipped up a delicious smoothie for breakfast or lunch, thinking it would hold me over until the next meal, but it lets me down and leaves me hungry just a couple of hours later. However, with some smoothie-making trial and error, I’ve learned that I need to add a quality mix of carbs, protein, and healthy fats to my smoothies to ensure that they fully satisfy me.

Thanks to a secret ingredient (avocado), here’s a delicious, nutritious, and satisfying smoothie recipe that’s guaranteed to ward off hunger pangs for hours!
