Wow, that was quite an event! There was so much tasty food, I wish I had a second night to enjoy it all. One night with that much deliciousness is just not fair! š
Share Our Strength’s Taste of the Nation is the nation’s premier culinary benefit dedicated to making sure no kid grows up hungry. The amount of food at tonight’s event was almost overwhelming. I wanted to try everything!! But, there was no way I could come close– even with just the desserts!
It would take me hours and hours to recap every taste that I had tonight, so I’m just going to highlight my favorites. I’m actually still thinking about a few of them! š
Alaskan King Crab Salad with Prosciutto, Golden Beets, and Grapefruit Aioli from Sel De La Terre
This was so light and refreshing. It’s a perfect appetizer for the warm weather. The Alaskan King Crab Salad is actually a brand new item, so it’s not even on the menu yet!
Spicy Green Beans with Freshly Baked Olive Oil-Oregano Bread with St. Alphonzo’s Kitchen
When Mal and I lived in South Boston, this restaurant was literally right down the street. Why didn’t we ever visit?! I guess we’ll have to make a special trip there soon!
I didn’t have a bite of this one, but Mal really loved this bacon sandwich from Hungry Mother.
The star of the evening: Sloppy Joes on Cheddar-Baked Bread from KO Prime
Holy yum! This was easily the most delicious thing that I tasted all night. Mal and I ended up sharing a Sloppy Joe sandwich and then going back for a second a little while later. We even considered eating a third sandwich, but we stopped ourselves.
Everything about this sandwich was amazing. Seriously. I will have dreams about it tonight.
At the event, I stumbled upon a couple of my favorite companies: POM!
And Yellow + Blue!
Mal and I spent a lot of time at Paul W. Marks cheese table.
We both have cheese “issues.” WHY is cheese so good?!?
Halfway through the event, I ran into some of my favorite bloggers: Chels, Elina, and Susie. Love these ladies! š
Then it was time for dessert! I definitely enjoyed myself tonight! š
Mini Donut Muffins fromĀ Glutenus Minimus
These babies were the best dessert that I ate tonight. They were basically cinnamon-sugar dough balls. Mmm!
The Glutenus Minimus cupcakes were also yummy!
Kickass Cupcakes had some pretty amazing cupcakes, too!
I tried their Mojito cupcake, which was a rum-soaked cupcake with sugar cane lime frosting and fresh mint. Of course, I loved it! š
On my way out, I grabbed a chocolate chip cookie from the Haley House Bakery Cafe. The Haley House is a really cool organization. You can read more about it here.
I had a wonderful time tonight– spending time with my hubby, seeing blog friends, and enjoying some fanastic food. I definitely splurged on desserts, but I didn’t overdo it either. The night was a success!
Good night!
