Good morning, friends! Happy Tuesday! I hope your week is off to a great start! Let’s get right to it this morning. This post has quite the random mix of topics in it! (Aren’t those posts sometimes the best though?)
Breakfast
Yesterday morning’s breakfast was Greek yogurt with Paleo “granola” and blueberries. I’ve been really digging this combo lately. I also ate it for lunch on Sunday afternoon too. It soooo good!
Workout
After breakfast, I headed to CrossFit for a workout:
Strength
Muscle Clean & Push Press
4 x 2
Add weight with each set.Met Con
AMRAP 12
150 Wall-balls
90 Double Unders
30 Muscle-upsRx: (20, 14)
L3: (20, 14) sub pull-ups for MUs
L2: (14, 10) sub singles for doubs, sub pull-ups for MUs
L1: (10, 6) s sub singles for doubs, sub pull-ups for MUs
I remember yesterday’s WOD from the CrossFit Open about a year ago and how much everyone struggled with it. The workout is only 12 minutes, so you really needed to bust your ass to get through it. Rumor has it, Rich Froning (aka the “Fitness Man on Earth”) “only” got through one round plus 39 wallballs. Needless to say, it’s a tough workout.
I did 12.4 back in March and remember smoking my quads (and then running a half marathon the next day), but I never recorded how I did, so my goal for yesterday was to make it through the 150 wallballs and 90 double unders. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen. I broke up the wallballs into sets of 10 with a short rest in between, but around 100 or so, I started missing the target (I’d only hit the bottom of it or totally miss the wall all together), so I no rep-ed myself a bunch and slowed down a ton. I was getting so frustrated””my quads burned, my lungs were on fire, and I kept wasting energy on wallballs that didn’t count. Basically, I fell apart. It just wasn’t my day, and I finished the wallballs with only about 30 seconds left to do the double-unders. Whomp whomp. But, hey, now I have a “Karen” time to beat! And I guess you could say I PR-ed on “Karen” yesterday, right? Positive thinking!
BLEND Retreat
Registration is now open for BLEND!!!
The BLEND (blogger + friend) Retreat is a weekend retreat for healthy living, food, and fitness bloggers. Instead of seminars and formal speakers, the focus is on friendship and having a weekend away to get to know blog friends in real life. The 2013 event is scheduled for May 17-19 in Park City, Utah. I’ve heard amazing things about BLEND and my friends Lindsay and Janetha host it and they’re super cool, so definitely check it out if you’re looking for a fun weekend away!

the idea of 150 wall balls actually terrifies me!! Props for getting through them!
Are you planning to go? I went last year and had so much fun. It was one of the best weekends of my life and I made some of the greatest friends, as well!
No, I’m not. Maybe next year!
That workout looks pretty tough. Good for you in setting a PR!! 😉
I kind of want to sign up for tumblr just to follow Ryan Gosling pages. He is so…ahhh (my fiance always looks at me when Ryan is on the t.v. because I get a goofy smile on my face immediately) I especially loved that Funny Or Die video, it made me laugh out loud for some reason.
