Almost Too Tired to Eat

Seriously. I am almost too tired to eat. Well, I can always eat, but you know what I mean! ;-)

I took an hour-long step aerobics class at the YMCA tonight, and it kicked my butt! I am totally pooped! The class’s instructor was absolutely amazing though. She was enthusiastic and motivating without being too over-the-top, and she pushed us hard for the full 60 minutes. On my way out of the Y, I even filled out a comment card about her awesomeness, which is something I never do. I swear, my muscles are already sore! I’m going to sleep like a baby tonight!

After a shower and organizing things for tomorrow, I could not make dinner; I just didn’t have it in me. So, dinner was a wonderful bowl of cereal with banana slices. Nice and simple.

My bowl of cereal was yummy, filling, and required little effort. ;-)

Breakfast (continued)

On my commute into work, I grabbed this lovely beverage: a non-fat soy misto with cinnamon. Mmmmmm! It kept me buzzing along all morning!

New Work Space

I thought you guys might like to see my new work space. Check out the brand new Mac and my beautiful view of the Yard!

I’m a zombie. Good night!

Better Tomorrow

I’m not sure what was up with today’s somewhat unhealthy eating. Not that I made completely horrible food choices, but, in the last 24 hours, I’ve drank 3 beers, eaten 6 slices of pizza, a donut, and cereal for dinner… and I didn’t eat a single vegetable today! Well, technically, there were leeks and squash on my pizza, but very little. Let’s just say there was definitely room for improvement with today’s eats! Oh well, one so-so day won’t kill me! ;-) Better tomorrow!

Dinner

Mr. Mal is at a hockey game tonight with his BBF (Best Boyfriend Forever), so it was just me for dinner. I considered making a protein-packed egg white and asparagus omelette, but a carb-erific bowl of cereal with banana slices won out. Carbs and I are best friends, especially in the winter– I crave them like crazy!

After finishing a humongous bowl of cereal, I made myself a second bowl. What is it about cereal?! I can never stop at just one bowl. It’s just too delicious!

Lunch

Mmmmmm… lunch was leftover Leek and Squash pizza from the Pig. I ate 2 breakfasts this morning, so I only had 2 pieces of the pizza for lunch… I wasn’t really that hungry either.

I love the leek-squash-sage-goat cheese combo! Amazing!

Snack

Blain and I celebrated my last day of work with one of our afternoon “coffee dates” at Dunkin’ Donuts. I met Blain within days of starting my position at HSPH, and since then, we’ve taken afternoon trips to D&D for coffee and chatting a few times a week. It’s sad that we can’t easily have these afternoon get-togethers anymore.

Our usual table…

At D&D this afternoon, I ordered a small decaf coffee with milk and sugar. My stomach started feeling queasy while drinking it, so I only drank about 2/3 of the cup before tossing the rest.

For old time’s sake, Blain and I split a chocolate stick, which was an excellent compliment to the coffee!

There’s not much on tonight’s agenda for me, except for catching up with my DVR episodes!

Happy weekend, bloggies! What do you have planned?

Winding Down

Today’s the first day that my time at my job feels and looks like it is truly winding down. I’ve been wrapping-up my responsibilities for the past 2 weeks, but today, I finally cleaned out my desk and organized my space for the next person, so now it looks like I am really leaving. It’s strange to think on Tuesday morning (we have MLK day off) that I will take the T to a different office, sit at a different desk, talk to different people, and have different responsibilities… I’m ready for it though!

Okay, onto to lunch!

Lunch was leftovers from last night: mac & cheese + ground turkey + crushed tomatoes.

Lunch was equally as tasty as it was last night! :-D

(P.S. These photos were taken with my new and improved camera! I’m so happy to have it back! The Geeks replaced the entire lens on it, and now it works great!)

Lunch concluded with a couple of sweet treats: a chocolate truffle and a “no fun” mocha. I felt no fun ordering my mocha with non-fat milk, no caffeine, and no whipped cream. But even without those extra goodies, it was still decadent, and I was totally craving chocolate so it hit the spot!

My afternoon snack is SO Delicious soy yogurt, which is my newest obsession (review coming soon!) with Kashi Go Lean Crunch cereal. I haven’t tried the Cinnamon Roll flavor yet, but I loved both the Vanilla and Blueberry flavors!

Blog Appetite

Starting a Food Blog? Find a Niche

Food blogs are evolving, and writers such as Kalyn Denny have found their niches. Low-glycemic recipes helped to earn kalynskitchen.blogspot.com the Well Fed Network’s best-themed food blog in 2007, and it looks like the site is up for similar accolades this year.

Lunch Break Becomes a Quick Nibble at the Desk

Hour-Long Lunch Break a Thing of History, Claims New Research

The hour-long lunch break is history, according to new research from contract foodservice provider Compass Group.

Do you eat your lunch at your desk?

At my current job, I almost always eat lunch at my desk, which I think is a horrible habit for me. I’d prefer to eat lunch away from my desk while taking a break from my work, but none of my coworkers take “lunch breaks,” so I always felt weird doing so. My resolution for my new job is to get away from my desk for lunch– preferably most days of the week.

Don’t Forget to Vote!

I’m still trailing in the voting, but I think we can still win! http://boboli.gwbakeries.com/football/enter.cfm

P.S. I love reading about all of the risks you guys have taken in your lives! You’re so gusty! :-D
