Hi! I was wondering what other health/fitness blogs you visit? I’m looking for advice on going gluten-free, dairy-free, and possibly turning vegetarian.
Thanks so much!
Hi, do you have a link to the articles you write for other magazines? I love your style and I’m very intrested in reading your work. I’m also very excited to read/buy your book this spring. Are you going to do a book tour or a promotion for your book. I just love your blog. Thanks for keeping it so intresting and fun.
Yep, on the main page of my blog under the Health logo!
Woot for AP Human Geography teachers!!
I just started another running schedule for beginners, I’ve started a different one a few times before but I had to stop because of plantar fasciitis. I’ve been ice-ing both feet after stretching after every run, do you have any advice on dealing with this injury? what online resources, besides runner’s world, can I use to prevent getting injured?
Also, do you have a set of stretches you do after a run? can you provide a list/tutorial?
loving the blog!
Thanks
Check my Running page!
I can not thank you enough for the blogposts on your site. I know you placed a lot of time and energy into all of them and really hope you know how much I enjoy it. I hope I’m able to do the identical thing for another individual at some time.
Which brand of vanilla protein powder do you recommend? I’ve started to follow you on Open Sky, but whenever I see the link, it seems to be broken! I would like to try incorporating this into my smoothies now that the weather is warming up!
Thanks!
@Gina: It’s called Vermont Science. I think it’s back in my OpenSky shop now!
Hi Tina!! I have been a fan for sometime now and have turned several co-workers and my sister in to CNC fans as well! I wasnt sure where to send you an actual email so I guess I will ask a quick “advice” question in your comment field. I am thinking about training for a marathon this summer (this has been on my bucket list for sometime) however I live out in Colorado where camping , hiking and all sorts of fun social activities take place on weekends. What do you do when you want to have your “long runs” on the weekend but want to have an active social life as well? Any suggestions would be great!
@JULIA: I run early in the morning on Saturdays, so I have the rest of the day to do errands and hang out with freinds. You could also do your long run during the week?
I’m not sure where to post this question, so I’m putting it here. I’ve noticed in some of your race pics that you have a stretchy headband that you wear while running. I’ve tried SO many different brands and can’t get them to stay on my head when I’m running. Would you mind sharing the brand you use?
@Michelle: They’re Goody Secure Fit Headbands: http://www.goody.com/#/searchTags/Headbands/products/secure_fit_headbands They are the best!!
Hi Tina!
I’ve been reading your blog for over a year now, and absolutely love it! I was recently offered a job in the Boston Area (Brockton, to be exact), ad am considering moving to Boston in the near future. I currently live in St. Louis, but am originally from Chicago. I’ll be out there in about 2 weeks to meet with the agency. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on good areas to live out in Boston, or realty companies.. I am a young single girl (mid-20s) and don’t know many people in the city. Also, any suggestions about things to do or places to eat while I am there? I’ll be with my mom and in town for about 3 days total. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you so much!!!
Hi Tina,
I’ve been reading your blog on and off for some time now and just had ti post and tell you how much I enjoy it. I also love reading your reviews on food products and other stuff that you purchase. However, am I just missing it, or are all these reviewed or linked items listed somewhere on your blog? I’d love to see them all together.
TIA:)
@Bearsmama: I don’t really do product reviews anymore, but I often mention my favorite products in my posts.
I just found your blog a few weeks ago….. I love it! I just have one question is there a section that I can request to subscribe to your
e-mail list. You are so informative and a delight to read,
I’m addictited! Thanks again!
@Diane: There’s a place to sign up on the main page of my blog!

Hi Tina- I cannot find the page where you talked about the process of how the publisher contacted you all the way until you got the book deal. (I just found the shorter post where you discussed that you got a book deal). Thanks for your help!
I had lost all motivation until I found your website. I love the information here and will be bookmarking it to come back again. I am also going to let my friends know about your blog
Dear Tina,
I just found your blog and I’m in love. Well, figuratively speaking anyway. We have so many of the same likes and dislikes. Ellen, Oprah, Michelle, what a trio of incredible women. I’m so impressed with your ideas and advice regarding health and weight loss. My life has taken a dramatic turn in the past two years. I’ve lived my whole life overweight and unhealthy, but I’m currently awaiting gastric bypass surgery and have begun a journey of life renewal. It took me 56 years to reach this but I intend on living the next 50 or so years with the ability to do the things I want to do, when I want to do them. High on my priority list is meeting Ellen. I could go on and on, but I’ll spare you the details. Just know I love your site and will definately become an avid reader. I plan on spending a good portion of the day today reading your archives.
@Linda: Yay!!! Enjoy!
I’m struggling with sticking with my exercise and healthy eating regime, is there something you can suggest that might help keep me motivated? Thank you kindly!
Hi,
Love your blog. I have a question I hope you can answer. Are there any recreational cooking classes close to the Quincy area?
Thanks Mary
@Mary: The Fruit Center in Milton sometimes has classes.
where do I order stainless steel straws
@Larry: Here’s the link: https://opensky.com/carrotsncake/product/stainless-straw-bundle-cnc They’re actually on sale right now!
I was wondering where you bought your small breakfast spoon! I can’t figure out where you got it. It is small and has a little hole at the end. You eat your oatmeal with it a lot!
sorry I can’t be more specific!
@Alina: Good question! I’m not sure I own a small breakfast spoon. Which post did you see it in?
Hi Tina–
Where do you get your flavored coffee? It always looks so delicious! I love iced coffee but the only flavor varieties I seem to come across are vanilla and hazelnut. Your flavored coffees sound so good!
@Leah: Lots of different places! Stop & Shop, Whole Foods, OpenSky, Marylou’s, Starbucks. I love flavored coffees, so I always keep my eyes open for them!
Hi Tina–Another question (I’m a new reader)! I’m interested in the straws you use–but I don’t have a dishwasher. How easy will they be to clean by hand? I use two straws a day–one for my iced coffee, and one for my nalgene bottle. I’d love to have reusable straws, but I’m worried about cleaning them well.
@Leah: Most days, I just run really hot water through them as soon as I’m done, which seems to keep them clean. I throw them in the dishwasher once a week, but you could always soak them with some hot water and cleaner. Hope this helps!
Tina,
I’ve recently started Crossfit (Loving it!!) and have noticed that most of the people wear special shoes (a lot of them are in VFFs or NB Minimalist shoes). Do you and Mal wear different shoes for Crossfit or do you think it’s ok to wear normal sneakers?
Thanks!
Amy
@Amy: Yep! Here’s a post about them and what to wear at CrossFit: http://carrotsncake.com/2012/01/new-lifting-shoes-my-february-1st-goal.html
Hello!..I was just directed to your blog from “Clean Eating” and wondered if there was a way to subscribe to your excellent blog…Your recipes and general philosophy of health/nutrition are right up my alley…Beautiful formatting of your blog, by the way, and I can safely say after about an hour here..bookmarking and reading…I am already a dedicated follower…Thank you for giving of your time, ideas and culinary prowess.
I think I remember you writing that you feed Murphy Chicken Soup of the Dog Lovers Soul. There is a recall on certain bags of that food in Mass. due to salmonella. You can check the FDA’s website for more info on the recall.
We checked over the weekend, and it looks like it was just on the light food, not the regular, which is what we feed Murphy. Thanks for telling telling me though! Very nice of you!
Hey Tina! I have a bit of a health/food question
Maybe you can help me out?
Lately I’ve been indulging too much in-between my meals and I feel like it’s slowing me down. I need to eat more whole foods as snacks but I don’t know where to start! What foods should I eat between meals to keep myself in check?
Thank you

Hi just clicked on your page. How do you stop the cravings if you see a picture of food you like. ie looking at your yummy picture of carrot cake one of my favourite cakes!!!
Hi Tina
I have been following your blog for a few months now and I am always hovering over my phone, waiting to see your updates! I have recently begun CrossFit, per your high regard for it, and I love it!! My question is about the Paleo diet. I am trying to stick to it to improve my performance in CrossFit and in running. How do you deal with carbohydrate cravings? I have them a lot and mostly I can handle them but sometimes I just attack the cereal/crackers/baked-goods. Do you have any advice?
@Carlin: This is sometimes a struggle for me too. Check out this post: http://carrotsncake.com/2012/09/reader-question-starting-a-new-diet-dealing-with-cravings.html
Hi – Just wondering how your NRT appointment went and what you thought of that method. Thanks.
Just search NRT on my blog to find my reviews!
Hi Tina,
I’m trying to work off the weight I’ve put on during school. I want to start planning out my week of meals, but am having difficulty figuring out where to start. I live alone, so I’m finding that cooking for one has its challenges. I love leftovers so I often make enough for 2 people, then eat the same meal 2 days in a row. How did you start your meal planning/do you have any advice or examples you could share?
thanks a ton. love the blog.
Jill

Do you drink those protien shakes daily?
Hey Tina! Love the addition of Crossfit on the blog- you have me addicted now too and I would have been too scared to try if you hadn’t talked about its awesomeness for months! Anyways, I’m wondering if you read any crossfit blogs and if you do, which ones? Thanks!
I do! Check out this post: http://carrotsncake.com/2012/09/blogs-you-are-lovin-right-now.html
