I started Carrots ‘N’ Cake to keep me on track with eating well and exercising in preparation for my upcoming wedding. My blog started as a personal food and fitness journal. I really had no intention of anyone ever reading it, and I definitely didn’t think that it would become such a huge part of my life– let alone my job!

Thanks so much for these tips! I just started a blog about going from a journey of hating running to running a marathon in four years. I just started and would love any insight. I love your blog, and it was inspiration to start mine! Thanks for sharing your story from girls like me, who need that little nudge of motivation (also coming form someone who has dietary restrictions).

These posts were really helpful for a beginning blogger! Thanks for the advice. Do you have any suggestions for how to find bloggers in your area? And how do you approach companies to do product reviews?

Thanks for all of the great insight from the journey of starting a blog to making it your career. I have just started mine a few months ago, and more recently really trying to figure out what is going to become of it. It is so helpful to read from other bloggers about the decisions they have struggled with along the way. You are so awesome and I love reading your stuff :)

    Hey Tina,
I just wanted to say thank you so much for these tips. I just started my website/blog and I’m totally lost. I thought that if I just looked at a few blogs it would get me started on some of my own ideas but it has been a long and slow process. Just when I think I have it figured out BAM! not so much.
Reading these tips will help me out considerably.

Keep doin what you do!! You have definitely inspired me in more ways than one.

Hey Tina! Do you have any posts on Giveaway “etiquette”? I just received some free goodies and was thinking about doing one on my blog. I really don’t have many followers :) but if I do one not sure exactly how to go about it.

I don’t, but I’ll write one this week!

Thank you so much for all of your tips! I just recently started a blog and found all of them so helpful! I was wondering how you decided how much was appropriate/safe to share on your blog and how you came to that. I started a blog because I’ve been reading them for yours and thought it would be a great way to reach out to people who have similar interests and fitness goals. At the same time, I’m worried about sharing too much like what city I live in, where my family is, where I go to school, etc. How did you decide what you think is safe and what isn’t? Thank you!

What a fabulous site! I was once 60 pounds overweight and found journaling what you eat also helps keep one on track. I’m the founder of Functional Fitness on Public Television and also make sure to work out consistently because consistency is key to success in every aspect. With home, work and travel, it’s not always easy, but eating right and working out are a must to stay functioning at my best.
    Healthiest blessings,
    Suzanne Andrews
