Hi, guys!

I hope you had a very nice July 4th holiday! We didn’t have any big plans to celebrate, but things shaped up with quite a few last-minute get-togethers and plenty of good times! 🙂

I love a good High Low High blog post, so here’s a recap of our long holiday weekend, which shares both the “highs” and “lows” from it. I always like to focus on the positive side of things, but I like to keep things real too, so there’s a nice mix of both. With that, here we go!

high low high july 4th

HIGH: Celebrating the 4th with our hometown friends, which involved lots games, kids, drinks, and food, including the most amazing red, white, and blue Funfetti cake. The red and blue sections were colored with fresh fruit – such a great idea, right?

HIGH: Qman’s first ice cream truck experience! One came through our neighborhood over the weekend, and we just had to check it out. Quinn picked a Batman ice cream!

HIGH: Making the most amazing Carrot Chicken Ramen Noodles for lunch and then again for dinner the next night. Recipe coming to CNC soon!

LOW: Getting locked out of Mal’s car after CrossFit. Oops! Thankfully, our friends rescued us by driving Mal home to get a spare set of keys.

HIGH: Enjoying iced coffee and donuts at Coffee Shack after the whole car fiasco.

HIGH: Having friends over our house for a barbecue and spicy Moscow Mules made with white tequila, jalapeno, soda water, and diet ginger beer. <– I didn’t even know Gosling’s made a diet version! It was really good and much better than the original, which leaves your teeth all slimy from the sugar.

HIGH: Finishing “Black Hawk Down” 6 minutes faster than my previous time back in 2013! This time, I carried a 15-pound plate for the first and final miles.

LOW: Driving to Lucky Finn Cafe for post-workout iced coffees + breakfast, but it being so crazy-busy both inside and out that we decided to avoid the madness and go somewhere else.

HIGH: Trying a new coffee shop in Norwell called Pour. They had tasty iced coffee (I ordered a Snickerdoodle) and breakfast sandwiches, so we were happy!

LOW: Feeling totally exhausted after Black Hawk Down and wanting to just nap on the couch.

HIGH: Powering through and getting a head start on some work for the week!
