Hey, hey!

We’re back from Seattle and, boy, we had a wonderful time! In fact, we had so much fun, it would have taken me forever to recap the whole thing, so I decided to just share some highlights. Here we go!

Feeling like we had our act together traveling with a toddler – Remember when I blogged about traveling with an infant (here and here)? Well, we learned a few things, so, this time, we streamlined our packing, checked as much as we could with the airline, and armed ourselves with all sorts of toys, snacks, and other necessities for the plane. When we arrived at the airport, Mal and I felt like rockstar parent travelers.

Well, all of that came crashing down just a short while later. We quickly learned that our early-morning flight was not a good idea with a tired toddler. Qman’s tantrums (like full-out kicking and screaming) started in the middle of security and continued on through boarding and into the first couple of hours of our flight. Oy. We offered him every snack we packed as well as at least a dozen new toys. Nothing made him happy. Quinn eventually fell asleep for a little bit, but he woke up just as cranky. Let’s just say it was a lonnggggggg 6 hours. We even had multiple (very nice) people come up to us and share similar “flying with a toddler” horror stories to help us cope!

Ok, so I’m not sure this is technically a “highlight” in the positive sense of the word, but one we will never, ever forget. As Mal said when we finally de-boarded the plane: “I’d give that flight a D-.” Haha! It was definitely a challenging experience to say the least, but we arrived in Seattle safe and sound.

And, thankfully, there was plenty of alcohol waiting for us. A glass of wine never tasted so good!

Ok, back to the real highlights of our trip!

Playing at “Dragon Park – Quinn loved this playground so much. We played there non-stop for a solid hour!

The Cobb salad from Homegrown that I ate for lunch one day – Oh my goodness, it was epic and probably one of the best salads I’ve ever eaten. Everything was so fresh and flavorful!

Spending time at the beach right before sunset – It was such a nice time of day to visit the beach and just relax.

Qman went swimming.

I drank wine with Aunt Sibylle on the beach.

IMG_9299 (1280x1280)

We watched Dada and Uncle Coleman paddleboard on the ocean.

IMG_9311 (1280x1280)

And then Quinn gave paddleboarding a try himself!

IMG_9322 (1280x1280)

Visiting Brooks – Mal wanted to buy some new running shoes, so we hit up Brooks, of course!

IMG_9329 (1280x1280)

Mal got fitted for shoes with Run Signature. He ended up in the Ghost and took them out for a spin as soon as we got home. He lovvvesss them!

When Qman woke up, he discovered the water bubbler at Brooks and then proceed to drink about 6 cups of water. He thought filling up his cup was SO FUN!

IMG_9351 (1280x1280)

Playing Farkle – We played so many games of Farkle. It’s a dice game, and it kept us entertained during nap and bedtimes. We even ended up playing teams and betting! My team, The Super Farklebots, ended up losing and buying Starbucks the next day, but, man, it was fun! We might need to buy our own Farkle set!

Enjoying donuts at Mighty-O Donuts – It’s not a vacation until you eat donuts, right?!

IMG_9339 (1280x1280)

The Lots O’ Chocolate (chocolate cake donut with chocolate frosting) was my favorite!

IMG_9349 (1280x1280)

Having brunch at The Hi-Life – It was so delicious and super kid-friendly!

IMG_9362 (1280x1280)

And the breakfast potatoes were UNREAL and definitely some of the best I’ve ever had. They were cooked to perfection– crispy on the outside, but soft of the inside– with a little kick from the seasoning.

IMG_9359 (1280x1280)

Quinn’s love for Dory – We bought him some “travel buddies” for the trip, and he was totally obsessed with them the entire time.

Visiting the Ballard Locks – Quinn thought they were so cool!

IMG_9367 (1280x1280)

He especially loved the fish ladder!

IMG_9375 (1280x1280)

And following the bronze fish emblems on the ground. FYI: This was an awesome “game” for a maniac toddler. Otherwise, we would have never left!

IMG_9381 (1280x1280)

Making and eating a ridiculously delicious (and massive) Reeses’s cookie – Mal found the recipe on Instagram and we just HAD TO make it. OMG, it was heavenly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!!

Visiting Kelsey Creek Farm – Quinn loved seeing all of the farm animals!

IMG_9396 (1280x1280)

He also loved driving the mini tractor.

IMG_9402 (1280x1280)

Even Dada got into it!

IMG_9430 (709x709)

Drinking this Pinot Gris at a family dinner – It was awesome, and I will definitely keep my eye out for it now that we’re home. It was similar to a New Zealand Sauvignon-Blanc– dry and mineral-y.

IMG_9387 (720x1280)

Our morning walks to Starbucks – It was such a nice way to start the day! FYI: Quinn is blowing into a bird whistle, which, of course, he thought was the coolest!

IMG_9276 (1280x1280)

Meeting cousin Cannon and spending time with Aunt Sibylle and Uncle Coleman – We had such a fun time and can’t wait to see them again soon!!

The end.
