Hey, hey!

Mal’s birthday was yesterday (and we lovvvveee birthdays in our house), so our celebration started over the weekend and continue late into the evening (with Funfetti cake) last night. Here’s a recap of the festivities!

Mal is a huge soccer fan, so he wanted to see the New England Revolution play on Saturday night, so that’s what we did and it was such a great idea. We live fairly close to Gillette Stadium where they play, so it took us no time to drive there and getting tickets was a piece of cake. The weather was also pretty warm, so we grabbed dinner on the roof deck of Bar Louie at Patriot Place and then walked over to the game.

The Revs actually ended up losing (whomp whomp), but Mal and I had an absolute blast at the game. (Some adult beverages may or may not have been involved.) In fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much, we are seriously considering buying season tickets for next year.

Yesterday, Mal’s actual birthday, started with an early-morning Starbucks run with Quinn, who was just too excited to sleep on Dada’s birthday. We were up and running at 5:15 AM, so Mamma needed coffee in a bad way. Mal loves Starbucks iced coffee, so I ordered his without ice (so it wouldn’t melt and water it down) and then put it in the fridge until it was time for him to drink it.

When we got home, Quinn and I made a special birthday breakfast for Dada: Almond croissants (from Trader Joe’s), cheesy eggs (Mal likes them with A LOT of cheese) and fresh strawberries and blueberries.

And, of course, there were presents waiting for Dada. (Please note the bug gift bag from Quinn. Bugs are the new cool thing in his life nowadays.)

Quinn got Dada a t-shirt for his favorite Premiere League team (Southampton) as well as…

… a mini one for himself, which Mal was even more pumped about! Twinsies as if they weren’t already!

Quinn also bought him and Dada matching wood grain sunglasses because the two of them are the coolest.

And, finally, Mamma helped him put together a flat lay since Dada loves them so much. (Mal’s Instagram feed is literally flat lays, Olympic lifting, and friends’ photos.)

After breakfast, we went to CrossFit where we did some running and heavy Squat Cleans. Then, I headed into MGH for an Entyvio infusion. It was my first post-loading dose stretch, which I had hoped would bring me to 8 weeks, but, unfortunately, things started to get pretty bad last week, so my doctor moved up my infusion by a week. *sigh* I know it’s a new drug, and it’ll probably take a little while to figure things out, but I had really hoped Entyvio would put me into remission. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys a quick update… back to Mal’s birthday celebration!

When I got home from my appointment, we played for awhile and then headed to Hingham Beer Works for an early dinner.

Beer Works is usually one of our go-to restaurants, but, wow, it was terrible yesterday. The service was bad. The food was even worse. (My ahi tuna salad is pictured below. Blah.) I’m not sure we’ll return any time soon.

Despite the sub-par birthday dinner, we managed to turn things around with some playing, rock throwing, and running around outside.

It was almost Quinn’s bedtime when we got home, so I put him down and then Mal and I enjoyed a piece of his birthday cake– Funfetti, of course!
