• Weekend In Numbers

    January 25, 2016

    Hey, friends! Happy Monday!

How was your weekend? Did it snow where you are? We were *supposed* to get a huge snow storm, but we ended up barely getting anything after all of the hype. And, of course, I am especially thankful for that. After last winter, I am so over snow for awhile! Anyway, we had a nice weekend over here, and I am going to recap it in numbers!

Minutes of toddler snuggle time on Friday afternoon (it was glorious): 25

Times we watched Kung Fu Panda: 2

    IMG_2263 (1280x1280)

The brand sent me some of their salads last week, and I am truly obsessed. They are legit salads with made with organic and interesting ingredients— meaning they’re not your usual romaine lettuce/grape tomato/red onion/cucumber salads. They’re made with seriously nutritious ingredients (many of them are superfoods), so they’re packed with omega-3s, antioxidants, and plenty of plant-based proteins. (Some of their salads include Non-GMO Project-verified chicken too!) Here’s just a sampling of some of the ingredients: Aronia Berries, Cacao Nibs, Sorghum, Chia Seeds, Red Azuki Beans, Goji Berries, Cashews, Wheatberries, and Quinoa.

    IMG_2366 (640x640)

Ok, since I’m on a roll here, I also want to tell you that the ElevAte salad dressings are incredible. They’re light and flavorful, and there’s just the right amount, so it adds a little something-something to your salad, but doesn’t drench it either. And, finally, there are 8 different salad recipes, so you always have a delicious option to try! One more thing: The Caesar Vinaigrette and Creamy Honey Mustard Dressing on the Spinach-Pow salad are both to die for!! OMG.

    IMG_2368 (640x640)

And elevAte is giving away a ton of great fitness gear + 4 grand prizes including gym memberships, gift cards, and an Apple watch, so be sure to enter for a chance to win!

    Susie @ SuzLyfe January 25, 2016 at 6:46 am

Quinn’s need to touch everything is adorable. I love the little finger in each picture! I was actually a fairly nice weather weekend in Chicago–20s and low 30s. I will sooooo take it!

    Sarah @ bucketlisttummy January 25, 2016 at 7:47 am

Wow, push-up machine! You go girl! I just can’t when I see Quinn and the family get-togethers. You all are adorable. Those salads sound awesome.

Quinn is too cute! Glad to see I’m not the only one with a toddler who cant.stop.touching.EVERYTHING! Did he have his first haircut? (I feel like you posted about it, but I forget). My boy still doesn’t have enough hair for a haircut yet, and he’s almost 19 months. Our big number for the weekend was 18 inches of snow!

    Tina January 25, 2016 at 10:41 am

    Karen January 25, 2016 at 11:14 am

That’s crazy on the pull-ups. I am trying to get my first one. How long did it take before you were able to do them? What sorts of progressions did you find the most helpful while you were either trying to achieve the pull-up or get stronger at them?

    Tina January 25, 2016 at 12:17 pm

I think it took me about 9 months to really get them. Here a post I wrote with some tips: http://carrotsncake.com/2013/01/tips-for-kipping-pull-up-success.html Hope it helps!!

    Anna January 25, 2016 at 11:32 am

    Annie January 25, 2016 at 12:16 pm

OMG so many pull-ups and push-ups!! You’re such an inspiration! I did 50 pull-ups (and 50 65 lb squats, 50 box jumps and 50 ring rows – see a theme?) on Saturday, and my chest was sooo sore yesterday!

(50 is also probably the number of chocolate chips I consumed this weekend also – oops!)

    Erin @ Erin's Inside Job January 25, 2016 at 12:37 pm

Those salads look great!I don’t normally do dressing on my salads since I don’t mind the tastes, but those look pretty good. Also, I love all the pictures of Quinn poking the cheese 🙂

When I was Quinns age I used to eat Brie and asparagus soup all the time, it was the only thing I would eat! Funny how our taste buds are at that age!… But I did grow out of that, don’t worry! 😉

    Amy January 25, 2016 at 11:35 pm
