With Thanksgiving next week, I can’t help but think about the past year and how thankful I am for our wonderful life. Obviously, I am thankful for our family and friends, our health, a roof over our heads, and many of the comforts of life that we may sometimes take for granted. Obviously, I feel the need to acknowledge these things since they are such an important part of our happiness, but I wanted to talk about some of the other things that I am especially thankful for this year. They’re a mix of serious and not-so-serious, but I’m thankful for each and every one of them.
Remicade
Remember how hard I fought against Remicade? It was years of push back (my poor doctor and poor Mal) and, man, I was so sick at times. But now it’s my miracle drug, and I just pray that it continues to work for me. Remicade keeps me healthy and allows me to LIVE my life the way I want to. And when you have a chronic disease, that’s all you want. So, thank you, Remicade, for allowing me to LIVE my life.
Our snow blower
Remember last winter? Yikes. It was out of control. I still remember when Mal purchased our snow blower. He and one of his buddies went out shopping together and came back with the BIGGEST snow blower ever. I was actually kind of annoyed because why the heck did we need such a huge snow blower? Well, I couldn’t have been more thankful to have it last winter!
Our emergency savings account and the nice people at the VCA
Poor Murphy. What a rough few months for that little guy. I’m just so glad our little Gremlin is still with us. There were times last spring when we thought he wouldn’t make it, so I am especially thankful that we had a savings account to afford his surgeries, medications, and appointments since we didn’t have any sort of pet insurance. And, of course, we’re so thankful for the nice people at the VCA, who took such great care of him. Nowadays, Murphy is doing better than ever. Besides some balance issues and a fear of going down big flights of stairs, he’s our same old lovable pug.
Our realtor
When it comes to real estate, buying and selling can be incredibly stressful, but our realtor made the entire process easy-peasy for us. Truthfully, I still can’t believe how relaxed I was about the entire process. And now we’re living in our “forever home,” so it was all worth it in the end!
Stonyfield
Stonyfield gave me the opportunity to accomplish one of my biggest goals in life of running the Boston Marathon, and I couldn’t be more thankful for that experience. It’s one I will never, ever forget as long as I live. (I still get teary-eyed when I think about it!)
I use WhatsApp every single day, all day long, to talk to friends and family. It’s just voice messaging, but it makes keeping in touch with loved ones a piece of cake. I’m thankful to have this kind of technology in my life!
Ricola
My life is the perfect storm for getting sick: I live with a toddler, who goes to daycare, my husband is a high school teacher, and I take a drug that suppresses my immune system. Between the three of us, someone is almost always sick in our house, so I’m especially thankful for cough and cold relief from Ricola’s Dual Action Honey Lemon. They’re naturally soothing and provide relief for coughs and sore throats, all in one drop. They’re quite tasty too!
10% Happier
You guys knew this one was coming, right? This book changed my life for the better, and I couldn’t be more thankful for this book!
Question of the Day
