We had such a great time at the Children’s Museum in Easton last Friday. What an awesome place!

Quinn and I met my mom, sister, and nephew there for a fun-filled morning.

The Children’s Museum was participating in “Free Fun Fridays,” a summer program that provides no cost admission to a variety of cultural institutions, including museums, historic houses, performing arts centers, and zoos, throughout Massachusetts.

For more information and a full schedule, please visit http://highlandstreet.org/freefunfridays.html. Long story short, the place was bumping!

Once we got inside, we headed straight up strairs to the Prehistoric Pathway and Dinosaur Den where Quinn touched real fossils and built a dinosaur out of magnets.

So cool! This boy loves anything that feels funny/different/new to him!

After that, we made our way downstairs to the lower level. Quinn immediately saw some kids playing with colorful blocks on table, so he made a beeline for it.

He eventually found some cylinder shakers and went to town shake, shake, shaking them. (OMG. That little arm. Haha!) He had a blast.

Right across the way was the next stop on the U.Fund Dreams Tour, which was a fun interactive experience for the whole family. Kids had the opportunity to play games (iPads for the older ones) and parents were able to learn about saving for college.

For me, partnering with Fidelity & MEFA around the U.Fund Dreams Tour comes at the perfect time, since we are just starting to think more about planning for college and saving for Quinn’s future. He’s growing so fast and becoming his own inquisitive little person, and I know college will be here before we know it. Plus, Mal and I both have a strong passion for education (he’s a teacher and my background is in higher education administration), so it’s important to us that Quinn has lots of opportunities open to him when he decides to apply to college.

When I applied for college, it was a pretty stressful time for our family. We hadn’t saved much money and we didn’t know what we were doing with regard to financial aid, loans, and all that jazz. I ended up being accepted to a number of amazing schools, but things didn’t work out financially for a few of them, so I wasn’t able to attend. I ended up going to a great college that I enjoyed very much, but I don’t want this same scenario to happen to Quinn. I want him to be able to go to any college that accepts him.

Quinn especially loved one of the activities that involved catapulting sheep onto a Velcro board. He needed a little help, but he had the right idea!

Our whole family went in together!

After, we each took home a printed copy of the photos and we could also opt-in to receive an email that included a link to the GIF. How cool is that?! You can watch our family GIF here!

We concluded our visit with some playtime outside and then we all headed home.

We absolutely loved our first visit to the Children’s Museum in Easton and already have plans to go back with “Dada” (and eat lunch at The Farmer’s Daughter. I heard we HAVE TO go!).

Questions of the Day

Parents: How old was your little one when you started saving for college? If you have kids in college now, what do you wish you knew (financially-speaking) when they were younger?

I’ve partnered with Fidelity & MEFA for this post in support of the U.Fund Dreams Tour. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own.
