Quinn’s first birthday party was truly one of the happiest days of my life. I know a lot of parents joke that their child’s first birthday party is more a celebration for them than their kid, which, yes, was true (we made it!), but I couldn’t help but feel just plain HAPPY at Quinn’s party. He is such a blessing in our lives, and I can’t even come close to expressing how much Mal and I love him. I just felt so incredibly thankful to have him as part of our family. He’s the best little boy and celebrating his first birthday was honestly the greatest feeling, especially surrounded by so many of our friends and family. It was an awesome day. Ok, enough of the mushy-gooshy stuff… onto the PAR-TAY!
The party decorations were such a highlight for me. It was so fun sticking with our “barnyard” theme, especially the adorable signs from Kate. (FYI: She’s offering free shipping in her Etsy shop with promo code “CNCFREESHIP” on any order over $5.00 – good through the end of June). I also found random items from around the house to fit in the with theme (i.e. baskets, a glass milk bottle, wooden boxes).
Beverages! Oh my goodness, we had so many drinks. Our friends like to enjoy an adult beverage or two, but, at the same time, we had a lot of pregnant ladies at our party, so we wanted to make sure we had plenty of alcohol-free options too. We basically ended up with a drink station.
Even the pug had a good time. He was back to his old self scavenging for food non-stop.
Party food! We ended up ordering lunch from CeCe’s, a local pizzeria, and we were pleasantly surprised with how everything tasted– mostly because it was such a last-minute decision. We originally planned to grill up burgers and hotdogs, but then we realized we’d end up hanging out by the grill for the entire party, so we did the catering thing and it was such a great decision.
The menu: cheese ravioli, eggplant Parmesan, salad, steak tips, and chicken and broccoli ziti.
Once everyone was finished eating, we headed inside for Quinn’s birthday cake.
We ordered it from Konditor Meister and they did such a great job with it.
We told them our party theme and this is what they came up with. Adorable, right?
Cake time! Quinn didn’t know what to think at first.
We had everyone come inside, so there were 30+ people staring and singing to him, so he was a bit bugged out.
Yup, totally bugged out.
But, he loved his first cake experience!
All in all, it was a wonderful day. It’s one that I will never forget and it definitely made me love my family (and friends) even more.
